Seemed a little price so I called around for a second opinion and was able to get the chimney chemically cleaned for $399.00. He said the crown was not in need a repaired and the cap was fine too. Rich is the best! Initially I called for a routine chimney cleaning, unfortunately it turned into a bit more. He educated me on chimneys internal functions as all I knew was add wood and light. He ended up relining the internals and installed a fireplace insert to maximize heat in our home. Following the Wolsey fire, our HOA requested that fireplaces be inspected and cleaned. (It was a narrow miss for our homes and ash buildup was substantial.) I called Right Way at the suggestion of a neighbor and I'm so glad I did! I probably had 8 years worth of buildup in my wood-burning fireplace in addition to the wildfire. The tech, Nick, exclaimed that it was "filthy" but he cleaned it well within the hour quote I was given and left no sign he'd been there. I wish I could give zero stars. I scheduled a fireplace replacement for December, 4 2018 waited 2 weeks for they come and install a new fireplace. They came December, 5 2018 demolished my existing fireplace, damaged 3 levels of my house (living room walls on the first level, my closet walls 2nd level and my roof deck 3rd level) On December, 7th I contacted them and they told me they wouldn't be able to install same type of fireplace I had (wood burning fireplace) and they wanted additional $750 dollars to complete the work. I was desperate so I immediately agreed and they told me they would only try to schedule the new fireplace installation DECEMBER 26 2018. When I attempted to contact company owner I was advised that he was out of town! I confronted the condescending receptionist/secretary and guess what the only think they could offer me was to close the fireplace with drywall (!!!!!!!) Really? Horrible! We followed his suggestions, which were to fill and seal the cracks, tuckpoint and paint the exterior, and cap the chimney to prevent birds, bugs, and animals from nesting inside. I got a call roughly 40 minutes before our appointment time letting us know they were done with their previous job early and asking if it would be okay to arrive a half-hour early. Now, I'm used to 2-hour windows with service providers usually showing up towards the end of that window, so you lose large chunks of your day. Not the case with Right Way. In both cases, we were told the chimney was unusable and would require anywhere from 50% to 100% replacement. Based on a neighbor referral, I figured I would give Right Way a try. This review is long overdue, and for that I apologize to those of you who are looking for a chimney service as well as to Right Way. I'll make it simple, and then for those who want more information, you can read on. HIRE THEM! WE WILL AGAIN. I called about 7 or 8 places listed on Yelp! When I spoke to Rich over the phone he was friendly, patient, and helpful. After making calls to all the companies, I narrowed it down to three. Again when I called Rich, I just got a good feeling from him, so we chose Right Way. We had just moved into our home, so there had been a home inspection, but it was noted something to the effect that the inspection was not what a full chimney inspection would be; that's why we wanted to be sure the chimneys were OK to use. We scheduled the service and Nick came to our home. We have two chimneys, so he checked both of them. He was fantastic! Clean, thorough and friendly. He left us with a detailed explanation of what he found. Bottom line and simplified: He said the chimney in our Den was OK to use, but eventually there were a few little things that should be addressed. He strongly recommended not using the chimney in our Living Room due to some major issues that needed to be addressed. Like I said earlier, we will use Right Way again. My wife left the review below, which is accurate, but I feel Right Way deserves a BIT more credit--Justin was very nice and prompt and fully explained a couple issues he told me to keep my eye on. However, as my wife notes, he couldn't find the gas keyhole for the fireplace and suggested it was maybe hidden behind a wall. He suggested finding a plumber who might be able to find it (he couldn't refer their usual plumber, though), so I was left wondering what to do. I emailed Rich asking him for some advice and he responded once, but then quit responding to my follow-up questions asking him for a recommendation or referral on how to get my fireplace running. So, we called a plumber we found on Yelp, and he came out and found our gas keyhole in 10 seconds, making me feel pretty stupid! I feel Right Way should have been able to find that just as easily...or at least refer me to someone to assist in getting my fireplace functional. That was the whole point after all--I didn't JUST want the cleaning; I wanted someone to walk me through a total update so I could use it. Also, I trust Justin did a fine job cleaning my fireplace, but I'm not sure how thorough a cleaning is supposed to be--it didn't look like anything was done to the chimney, so I hope it's good to go!
