Jessica sold me a pair of bifocal glasses and was very pleasant/professional. I chose to try the progressive type of lenses where going from long distance to short distance is invisible from an onlooker viewing the glasses (rather than seeing a small area in the lower portion of the lens). It's new for me, not cheap, so having the 30-day trial period was critical should the lens approach not be for me. Well, a week or so later, I arrived at the store after getting the text msg that my glasses were ready, explained that I was traveling in a few weeks and asked that the 30-day trial be extended a couple of days as I would be out of town when it expired. They couldn't do that. I had to go back to the store later to pick them up in order that the clock on the 30 days start later. (It's about 30 minutes roundtrip for me.) While the store manager was very gracious, attentive and fluid in explaining matters when I came by again for the second pick up, it makes little sense for a manager to be unable to override the system when warranted, especially for a long-time customer. Corporate needs to address this sort of thing, I feel, as it motivates me to try a competitor next time I need optical wear.

10 Stars for a True Craftsman…read more In 2025, I stumbled across a pair of Persol sunglasses I originally received as a gift back in 2005. Beautiful glasses, but after years of wear and age, the materials had stretched and oxidized. They hadn't fit properly in ages, so I tossed them in a drawer nearly a decade ago. Last week, I found them again and thought, "Dang, these are still some good-looking sunglasses--they just need a little love." I tackled the UV oxidation myself (thank you, YouTube and car polish), but the real challenge was the shape: the frames were warped, and the lenses were starting to pop out. I searched for glasses repair shops, which are surprisingly hard to come by, and after reading a dozen reviews on Google and Yelp, I found Gary's Custom Optik. The reviews were glowing--people calling Gary a treasure, a master of his craft, and truly "old school" in the best way. And let me tell you: they were right. Gary is indeed a gem. Before doing any work, he gave me a fair heads-up that these were 20-year-old frames and there was some risk involved in reshaping them. But honestly, they were already in the "what do I have to lose?" category--and if anyone could bring them back, it was going to be Gary. And he did. He spent about 15-20 minutes carefully working the acetate, reshaping the frames, tightening things up, and getting them back to being totally wearable. Not perfect--but so much better than where they started. When I asked what I owed, he said, "Nothing." That seemed ridiculous, so I bought a lens cleaning cloth and some cleaner just to give something back. This place is a classic. Wall-to-wall with frames and stocked with everything you could need for eyewear. I don't wear prescription glasses--but if I did, they'd come from Gary. Huge thanks to Gary and also to the friendly woman in the shop who laughed at my bad jokes and finished the job with a professional spritz and wipe. Highly, highly recommended for repairs, frame purchases, or just to witness a real craftsman at work. If it's five stars max, I'm giving it 10.

She greeted me upon arrival. I told her what I was there for and she gave me time to look around. But first she made sure that my insurance is accepted. Once I'm done choosing my frame, we sat down and did the numbers. This time around, I opted for a progressive lens with transition plus the add ons. Yessi entered my insurance info and I liked what I saw. With all the add ons and all, it came out to be within my budget. Yay She offered a warranty ($45) that covers the basic which is good for 15 months. I find it to be very useful and so I purchased it.

I recently brought in two pairs of glasses to have the lenses changed. I was still within the 30-day period, and I appreciate that your store agreed to take the glasses back and process the lens changes. Unfortunately, what followed was extremely frustrating and left me very disappointed with the way I was treated as a customer. When I initially dropped off the glasses, I was told that I should check back in approximately two weeks and that I would be contacted. When I returned to the store to ask about the status of my glasses, the employee who assisted me was extremely rude and dismissive. I simply wanted to know when I could expect my glasses to be ready, particularly because I will be leaving town soon. Instead of trying to help me or check the computer system for an estimated completion date, I was repeatedly told, "I don't know." I was given the possibility that perhaps they were out of lenses, but no one seemed willing to actually investigate the situation or provide me with a meaningful answer. I was eventually told that if I wanted an answer, I would have to speak with the manager. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the two pairs of glasses were submitted at the same time and had the same prescription. I could not understand why there was no information available regarding their status, and I certainly did not expect to be treated as though asking for an estimated completion date was unreasonable. When I spoke with the manager, I explained that I was leaving town and needed to know when my glasses would be available. After she actually checked the system, I was told that my glasses were expected to arrive the following day. That left me wondering: Why couldn't someone have checked the system in the first place? A simple response such as, "Let me check our system and see what information I can find for you," would have completely changed the experience. Instead, I felt that I was being dismissed and that nobody was interested in making even a basic effort to help. What concerns me most is the attitude toward customer service. I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I was asking when my glasses would be ready after leaving them with your store. I believe every customer deserves a basic level of courtesy, respect, and an honest effort to provide information. At one point, I was even told by an employee to "get the hell out." I found that completely unacceptable and extremely disrespectful. I do not believe that a customer who is frustrated and asking legitimate questions should be spoken to in that manner. I want to be clear that my complaint is not simply about the delay in receiving my glasses. Delays can happen. Lenses can be backordered. Mistakes can happen. What was unacceptable was the lack of effort, communication, courtesy, and willingness to help. I have been a customer who expected better from America's Best. Unfortunately, after this experience, I have no desire to return to this particular store. I will pick up my glasses because I need them, but I wanted to make sure that you, as the person responsible for the store, are aware of how customers are being treated. I strongly encourage you to address this with your staff. Customers should not have to insist repeatedly before someone is willing to look at a computer, check an order, or simply try to find an answer. Good customer service means making an effort to help, even when you don't immediately have the answer. I hope you will take this complaint seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve the customer experience at this location.
