It's a cute place in the Hill neighborhood which is the only reason it's getting two stars rather than one. The food is not the quality and flavor you expect in the Hill. The chicken in the spedieni was good but served on a bed of barely warm risotto that was so strong with garlic flavor that it was the only thing you could taste. I got a cup of lobster-bisque soup which could best be described as cream and seafood broth-literally not a shred of lobster. Can you say they Do Not Care? We went to this place on a Monday at 530on with 5 people and by 7 pm all I ate was bread and a lemonade. I had to leave without any food as I had to get to an appointment By 8pm. I had to leave my card with my kid and asked to please stay and eat their meals hot and get my pizza and pay for dinner as it was all my treat after the long wait and since I had to leave. When I got home I had a pizza or better yet a dry stale large cracker with no pizza sauce (I asked for extra sauce) and plain meat and veggies dinner. With a receipt and my card for a bill of $194.00. We each had a drink , salad and a dinner Item. I had to double check to see if anything extra was order and nothing extra was ordered! The server and the cook had no regards of what the was cooking or serving or how it should not take and hour and half for simple pizza and pasta dishes! I have to say this has been the worst experience I have ever had at this restaurant. I have been coming here for 30 years and sadly, since the new owners took over, the food was not good at all! For a Wednesday night, first thing we heard was "we are out of a few things". Of course, the cheese sticks which we pretty much go there for, they were out. She continued to tell us other items they were out of. Everything tasted different and not in a good way. We sent back one dish and would have liked to just send back them all. The waitress was really sweet and was doing her best but they just didn't have enough help. I know it is hard to determine how much staff to put on the schedule but people were leaving because of waiting so long just to get a drink. I'm from Kansas City. At 4:00 we drove 45 minutes from Defiance,MO after riding the Katy Trail so our party of 8 could eat dinner. At 4:45pm we were the ONLY people in the lobby where we were unfortunately met by the hostess Kathy and her short hefty male sidekick. apparently they felt the need to be rude to us and acted as if they couldn't accommodate us and we should go somewhere else. ( too bad they're the first people you meet as both had sourpuss & 'we hate the world' looks & attitudes. Unfortunately as the acting 'gatekeepers' the sidekick seated us- although NOT together. 4 people in a booth and the other 4 at a table in the center of the room. They claimed to be SO full and we needed a reservation. While seated in the center of the room we asked each 4 top party seated on each side of us if they had a reservation to which each party said NO! Unfortunately there was an 8 top table that never had anyone seated at it the entire time we ate! (See photo) I spoke to the manager Dominck upon leaving to explain our experience with Kathy and her sidekick. This was my first time at Rigazzi's. Made a reservation and went with a group of friends. Atmosphere was great, our server was excellent. However my meal was just okay. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and added shrimp, which contained only a few shrimp. The shrimp was not not cooked well and appeared to have no seasoning. The noodles were fine and the sauce was also fine albeit a bit runny. My wife got the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was very similar to mine. Maybe my expectations of an Italian restaurant on The Hill were too high? I would go back and give them another try, however, would definitely order something else. We took my elderly father out tonight for his Christmas present, as he had fond memories of this restaurant in the past. He, and the rest of us, were disappointed. "It's really declined," is how he put it. Specifically: -hardly anyone was in the restaurant at 4 when we arrived, yet it took 55 minutes for our entrees. They arrived cold. -The sauce was flavorless. -The fried chicken was soggy, and cold. -Our server disappeared for a long time, came to ask us if we wanted appetizers after we already ordered them from her, and she seemed generally confused. After she came back again to ask us if we wanted appetizers, she realized the toasted ravioli we ordered were sitting on an empty table next to us. Again, cold. $160 wasted. Regazzi's (under new ownership) is to restaurants on the Hill what Amtrak is to the glamorous name trains of the 50's; a total embarrassment. For Mother's Day, our daughter and her husband made 6:00pm May 11, 2024 reservations to celebrate with us at Rigazzi's on the Hill. We checked in just before 6, and were told it would be 25 to 30 minutes before our table was ready, and that they would call our cell phone when it was. With the foyer full of other waiting patrons, we went outside to visit. After approximately 30 minutes, we checked with the hostess again, and were told they were backed up in the kitchen and couldn't seat us quite yet but would call. With it being Saturday night on Mother's Day weekend, we chose not to go elsewhere for fear of not being seated. After an hour had passed, we checked again and were assured we were next on the list, but couldn't be seated yet. We bought 4 'fishbowls' of beer and had a seat in the foyer which had emptied from frustration. We checked 2 more times, the last at almost 8pm and then were told they were having problems in the kitchen and didn't know if they would seat us at all. We asked why they hadn't notified us or other patrons earlier only to get a 'deer in the headlights look' from the two young girls acting as hostesses. With that, we left and tried to salvage our evening, with bar food and beer at Milo's. With many other great choices in St Louis, we will never give Rigazzi's a future 2nd thought. read more

Could always count on good toasted ravs but they are just good now. They don't even follow the fish bowls full anymore. We had family in town for Christmas and a family tradition is to go here as a group a few days before Christmas. It's temperature is probably the best around AND they have a variety of beers so your not limited to the boring overseas owned beer manufacturer formerly American owned. Side salad was good and daily pasta specials were good. Service could be slightly better but understandable. With time and training they could sell more food and drink. The waitress introduced herself by stating she was tired from being on her feet all day on a Saturday night. The meal went downhill from there. Tasteless tomato sauce was served with our toasted ravioli for an appetizer. My wife's eggplant parm was tasteless too served with the same bland tomato sauce. My lasagna was still cold in the middle with unmelted cheese like they didn't heat it enough after pulling it from the refrigerator. Not going back. We really enjoy the atmosphere, the helpful and friendly wait staff, as well as the innovative and tasty preparation of the menu items. The flash fried spinach appetizer is our favorite. What can I say, it's a true St. Louis institution - going on for more than 60 years! I've eaten here a couple times, once for lunch and the other for dinner. The atmosphere is great, as well as the hometown feel. The prices are, yes - pricey. But look at it this way, so are a lot of other restaurants on The Hill. I've had Rigazzis' Parmiciano, which was very different and worth trying. Get it with a side of fries and you'll be set for lunch. I'm not really sure how to describe their pizza. The crust is very hard and thin, so its crispy. According to one of the workers there, they "O.D." on the provel cheese, which is definitely not a bad thing. They really load up on the toppings if you're getting the special "Aiazzi's Da Bomb Pizza" where they put bacon, green olives and plenty of meats on top! I had their smallest size, and it still filled me up! I'll definitely be back because I know there's a lot of menu items I'm missing out on. Would love to try their toasted ravioli and their spaghetti & meatballs. I also still haven't had their signature "beer in a fishbowl glass"! Next time I am up for an alcoholic beverage while dining here I'll go straight to that. Like I said above, it's an iconic St. Louis place. Has a lot of history as well. I didn't know the Blues hockey team hung out here after games at the old Arena. Plenty of celebrities have eaten here too. You gotta check out their Blues hockey memorablia upstairs (if it's open). And get a selfie with Al Capone at that one booth. They also have their stl250 cake from five years ago still on display outside by the patio. read more

I have been going to Ragazzi's for over 40 years. I visited in March looking forward to their wonderful salad, piccata , and artichoke Milanese. I was informed I would have to return to get the items I always ordered at lunch. They changed their menu to very limited options and changed the recipes of the salad dressing and marinara. Sugar had been added to these recipes. I spoke to the waitress and manager. I was told the ingredients had been changed to match Zia's on THE HILL. I also love this place, but because they continue to use their decade old recipes. Since Rabazzi have adjusted the recipes, I will truly miss my Ragazzi's of old. Although, I will continue to visit THE HILL, Ragazzi's will no longer be on my "to do list.". I am sure the people of THE HILL have noticed this change, but I too as a continued visitor have too. Did you know that everyday, they have an $8.95 special for you to choose from along with their regular menu. And believe me, you are going to walk away stuffed. We munched on bread while we decided what to get. He ordered the three pastas which had fettucine, lasagna with a large meatball on top and rigatoni with meat sauce. I ordered the fried fish which came with two sides so I choose the mostaccioli and the mac and cheese. Both lunches came with either a small salad or coleslaw. We each picked the salad which was just the right amount to start us off. He raved about his dish, especially the lasagna. My fish was excellent. It was breaded but not to the point that all I was tasting was breading. Both of my sides were delicious also. Would I come back here? Yes, the food was delicious, especially the meat sauce.
