This is my third time coming to Ridley's and it hits the spot every time! If you go on the weekend expect to wait 15-40minutes depending on how early you go. While waiting I'll get an almond croissant or my favorite is the cinnamon roll. The cinnamon role is incredible, I've grabbed it each time. Service was very good. Place was very clean with the nautical look to it. Every worker seemed to be happy to help us. Pancakes were good, redfish blackened was good, chicken fried steak, biscuits and sausage gravy were good, and brunch burger was good. Quiche wasn't that good and the frittata was runny. Took about 25 min to get our food. If you're starving this may not be the place as it took a while for every table to get their food, then again they did say their power went out so this could've been the cause. Stumbled upon Ridley's on an early morning on the island! They were open at 9AM on a Thursday morning and I'm so glad that they were. The entire staff was super friendly and our waitress Genevieve was so helpful! I was torn between 3 options: one of the items with brisket (because WHAT,) banana pancakes and finally the B&B burger. I was in the mood for a burger so i opted for the B&B Burger and I was NOT disappointed. I got it with cheese only & the sauce/pickles on the side, it also came with potato chips on the side. Those were some of the best chips I've ever had, they're CLEARLY homemade and it shows. The sweet pickles had a spicy punch! I didn't taste the sauce but it reminded me of Hollandaise sauce) My friend also had a side of bread/raspberry jam and it was SO GOOD!!! I will be going back specifically for that each time I'm on the island. There was also a choice of multiple jams and their bread is made there! The service was spot on, the decor was well put together and comfortable. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, I finally decided to have the lobster bisque as an appetizer. Recommended to us by some friends and great views online. While we were a little disappointed at first (a 30 minute wait told to us by the host turned into 60+ minutes, ran out of dishes on the menu, and dusty/dirty seats) the food was great and definitely for sharing! The dishes were also a little overpriced, I ordered a cheesy grits with an egg on top for $23 which seemed a bit more than what I expected. I would give it another try, but next time call ahead for a reservation to ensure we skip some of the disappointments we occurred at the start. We dined in around 11:00am on a Thursday for a party of 2, so I can't imagine the wait time for a weekend! read more

Nice atmosphere. Good service. My husband said their shrimp and grits were the best he's ever had -- and he eats this all over Texas and Louisiana. I had an egg scramble with some veggies and potatoes. I wish they offered more choices for people who cannot eat gluten or dairy. Their oat milk lattes are very good, but why nitpick and charge $1 extra for oat milk? Many items are delicious but limited choices for some customers who would like to eat here more often. read more

Service was courteous and prompt - and my coffee cup never went empty or without offers! The pancakes were yummy (pineapple upside down). Not overly sweet with just the right amount of crispy edge. Close to the center where the pineapple was, the batter was just a tad underdone - but nothing I wasn't willing to look past. And the salty, crispy bacon was the perfect date to the prom for those pancakes. Got a piece of pecan pie to go. Everyone who works in this restaurant should go thank the kitchen staff about 10 times a day. The food is the only redeeming quality of this restaurant. It's clear to me it was started by someone with great food who has no idea how to run an actual restaurant. The problems started when we walked in and the hostess is...nowhere to be found. We took several steps in the restaurant looking for her and eventually found her after a few minutes where she then acted like we were crazy for going farther than the entry way. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. I can normally deal with a long wait (sometimes the sign of a good restaurant) but this (90 minute) wait seemed to rest mostly on the shoulders of the hostess and the layout of the restaurant. After putting our name on the list, we saw the coffee stand and bakery they have for "quick" takeout orders and thought "perfect! I'd love a coffee while I wait". Unfortunately, everyone was on island time. We ordered coffees and got them about 20 minutes later. I could've driven to island joes, gotten a coffee and come back in that time. While we drank them and waited for our table, we stood in the bakery area admiring the goods. The hostess comes up to us and asks "who are you guys?" We answer with our party name. "Okay well this is not my waiting area, I'm about to seat guests, so you can't be standing here. Please go wait outside", harsh wording, but we went outside. Then 30 minutes later we asked about the wait status and the same hostess said "You guys decided to get baked goods and eat at our outside tables" to which we said "No, you asked us to leave the area and wait outside", she stared at us dumbfounded and eventually said "okay, your party will be next." We then proceeded to wait another 45 minutes. Frankly, I am confused at the entire front section of this restaurant. I think someone was in the island sun a little too long when they designeThey have the bakery and coffee stand for quick to go orders but it is not quick and there is no place to wait while you wait 20 minutes for your coffee. Instead, they have 2-3 two top tables in front of it. I think they would do a lot better and sell a lot more coffees to people while they're waiting/people popping in for a quick coffee and pastry if they got rid of the tables and made it a small waiting area. If there's a 30 minute wait for a table, I have no problem waiting if I can get a coffee right away. In addition, the lady manning the counter would inexplicably leave for long periods of time. One of our party got two kolaches, went to pay for them, and no one was there. She waited for 10 minutes before finally walking away. We eventually had to have our waitress add them to our tab when we sat down. Another time, I witnessed a customer trying to order a coffee but the lady had left. The hostess saw the situation and tried to help only to realize once the customer ordered that she had no idea how to work the POS system and go looking for the lady who normally mans the counter. We had a party of 6 so I can understand some wait on a busy Sunday and the need for a larger table. However, I witnessed the table we eventually sat at clean and open for nearly an hour. I think the restaurant needs modular seating rather than all booths. You're not doing your hostess any favors by making her seat everyone in booths where the number of seats is fixed. It's an inefficient use of space. Once we sat down, it was a very quick turnaround (approximately 45 minutes for all 6 of us to sit, order, eat, pay and leave). However, it's clear that operationally, there could be improvements. Our waitress informed us they were out of clean glasses at 1030 in the morning. My "bottomless" coffee was never refilled. They forgot an order and someone from the kitchen had to bring it out after all the other orders were on the table. The food was good which is why it got 2 stars but everything else about this restaurant is not working as intended, especially at the menu price points. I would not come back and eat here again. Summer should be fun and this was not fun! read more

He was told there were still another 5 parties ahead of us to be sat. Disappointed in a new restaurant that could easily have an electronic system for seating, but instead it was unorganized and written on notebook paper. About 20 minutes after leaving my husband got a text saying he was added to the waitlist. Said we were 16th in line. I guess the place does have an electronic system but they don't have properly trained staff using it. read more

Went there for Sunday brunch and waited for 45 minutes and let me tell you it was well worth the wait! Clean laid back vibes with a full bar and bakery. I had the breakfast special which included 2 strips of bacon and sausage plus a slice of smoked ham with fluffy scrambled eggs and hash browns. Honestly I couldn't finish my meal also the coffee was the best I've had in a while. It was so good that we went back a second time before we headed back home. Simply put, the food and the atmosphere was second to none. Eureka, a place on the island with seafood (and other food) that isn't just good, it's great. I say that having grown up catching and eating fresh-caught seafood my whole life... so I'm a "snob" in that sense. I ordered the shrimp poboy and was not disappointed. Fresh caught gulf shrimp that was hand-battered. Not the Cisco processed, "institutionalized" shrimp you see so much of these days. Nope, these guys do it right. Do you have kids? Well I was pleasantly surprised not just by the kids play area, but that the kids meals were actually affordable and not an afterthought. My wife is a vegetarian and there are plenty of great options for those that choose not to eat meat... and again, those options aren't just an afterthought. This menu was one where it ALL sounded good, and I can't wait to go back and try more options. Now... the atmosphere you say? Well I loved it... cool and coastal and "local". I personally loved the TVs that had surfing and local fishing on as a backdrop. There were some tuned to sports if you want to grab a drink and catch a game. Speaking of drinks... lots of amazing sounding brunch drinks (including a Bloody Mary "flight" that includes a "green" Bloody Mary). We weren't drinking that day but I was intrigued by the bar menu and beer selection to say the least. Our server was friendly, attentive, and make good recommendations. The service was a little slow, but I can overlook that due to the quality of the food since after all, actual good food takes time. They're not open for dinner just yet, as they're still training their staff to their liking (so I hear), so perhaps that's another clue as to the slower service. One last thought I'll leave you with... I come down to the island rather frequently from Dallas to visit my dad, and there's not another restaurant that I'm looking forward to visiting more so than Ridley's. Came on a Sunday and wait time was insane... waited over an hour for 2 people. Their toast system went down and chaos ensued. However after reading previous reviews, that seems to be the norm. The restaurant is very small, they really can't accommodate the crowds of vacationers. Once seated our server made up for everything. Food was very good, best pancakes around.
