Best place I found peel and eat shrimp. Large portion and very affordable. Their food is very well made and the place has a family friendly beach town feel. Great prices and great food at the very best price points.

Crazy good food, crazy nice staff, big open dining area with a nice looking bar area. It has both tables and booths. My wife and I had dinner here and really enjoyed our meals. The menu has a lot of variety and choices including fresh fish and steaks. They have a nice selection of drinks and beers. We both had a Perfect Marg no salt on the rocks. They both came with two limes. They were very tasty and resonably priced. My wife had the Nueces Bay which is flounder, shrimp, crab with a wine butter sauce. She got the vegi's of the day and rice as her side. She loved it, everything was very good. I had the Stuffed Flounder with rice and fried okra. The stuffed flounder was grilled with the seafood stuffing. I really enjoyed this also. Our wait person was friendly, helpful with our questions and checked on us the appropriate number of times to make sure everything was great.

Service was great. They bring out fresh rolls to the table after you order your drinks. The menu is very straightforward and has exactly what you want. My daughter and I got lunch while my hubby opted for breakfast since it was about 10:45 when got there. The shrimp poboy was really good...seasoned and lots of pickles, tomato and lettuce. I don't know if they make the hoagie inhouse or not but it was toasted and was sooo good. The tarter sauce comes on the side. I just Wish they put 2 more shrimp on the sandwich to fill it up all the way. My daughter loved the shrimp platter. The shrimp were seasoned well and fried golden. My hubby loved the pancakes and hashbrowns...the bacon was . I tried a piece or 2. Very good experience. Also...the bathroom was veeerryyy clean so I appreciated that. Check them out if you come to Corpus Christi. You won't be disappointed.

Was on the island for a doctor's appointment and decided to try this place for lunch and so glad we did. We had Melody as a server and service was exceptional. Hubs tried the Greek burger and I ordered the ANC chicken sandwich. He had sweet potato fries and I had the onion strings. Let me say my sandwich was great. Huge portion of chicken, avocados and bacon. Could only eat half. Hubs said the Greek burger was amazing and that the ground beef was super juicy and tasty. The portions on the onion strings and fries were HUGE, way too big like enough for a team. lol. But everything was really good. Will definitely be back when we are in the area, 9 out of 10 for everything. And prices were good too.

Sunday morning breakfast stop and wasn't that busy which was great. Got sat right away in a booth. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was tasty and only issue was the side of ham came out after the rest of the meal. Large portions for the two eggs and French toast. Eggs were scrambled well and loved the hash browns. Coffee was also quite delicious, should have asked for a to go cup! Decor was simple and clean, there was an odd open space due to the a/c dripping. Smart of them to not leave tables for guests to have an unpleasant experience.

I had a good experience here because the waitress was friendly and the food was pretty good. I like that the food wasn't really salty though most of the dishes were a bit planned. They definitely could've used a bit more seasoning. But besides that I felt the food was quite fresh, and the pricing was reasonable. My favorite dish was the flounder and cream sauce. The flounder tasted fresh and the cream sauce was flavored really nicely and had some seafood in it.

Where do I begin? Let's start with the price of their entrées. Everything here from steak to burgers and baskets is priced so affordable it would question me to think the quality would be less than. This isn't the case. Captains Diner is a true contender for restaurant experience of the year in my book. Everything and I do mean everything from the seafood platter to the steak and turf, which I ordered was amazing and the price is unbelievable. This place is an absolute gem. This is my new go to place why down on the coast

Grilled Shrimp Platter with Steamed Broccoli and a Baked Potato

My husband and I came by for dinner around 6 pm yesterday, and we seemed to have hit the perfect time. There was a brief wait, but shortly after we checked in, a lot of families were coming in to get on the wait list. There were several large groups, and the restaurant is quite the hole-in-the-wall place. The inside is quite vintage with an old-timey feel. We loved the old celebrity photos on the wall. I ordered the grilled shrimp with steamed broccoli (veggie of the day) and a baked potato. My husband had the grilled salmon with rice pilaf and broccoli. We also had Caesar salads, which tasted really good. Their prices are super reasonable, and you get A LOT of food. The service was also really good, and we barely had to ask for anything. We will be back!

Where they decided to add whatever they wanted in payment. Didn't match bill

Previously gave this place a 5 star. But went in this visit. Told the waiter I was allergic to tomatoes. So he turned around and put tomatoes on my salad and then didn't even bother to tell me the vegetable of the day had tomatoes in it so I wasn't able to eat my vegetable and then when it came around time to the bill and charging they added three dollars between the bill and paying I will show pictures for an example. I thought this was my spot when I came to the island but not anymore. The food was mediocre this time also except for the shrimp. The shrimp was on point but the rest of it was not.

Turkey Cranberry Sandwich that my dogs walked away from.

The food is terrible. I had a turkey cranberry sandwich that was nothing more than some packaged deli meat with a small spoonful of cranberries & stale fries. The service was slow. The atmosphere is depressing.

Sorry we devoured most of the carb cakes with also comes with a small salad.

We were first time Customers and we were so glad that we found this local home style seafood restaurant with a good amount of space and tables with staff to serve them. The restaurant is also nicely decorated with historical photos of the island not over done with neon signage. The menu provide various selections and are well priced for the ample portions served. Our waitress by the name of Gabby was just fantastic always stoping to check on us and offering if we needed anything plus she was very knowledgeable of the food and the history of the restaurant. For starters we had the delicious crab cakes and I mean 5 of them not 2 or 3. We then had the Shrimp plater grilled and a Seafood salad both were delicious .. overall we're delighted and will certainly be stopping by again to try the other items on the menu when visiting our favorite White Cap Beach.

Eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast

We went for breakfast. Our food came cold. There was a lot of it so I guess that was good but cold toast, hash browns and eggs. The bacon was hot. They did take off $2.50. Oh well

The place has a sweet, cozy, and comfortable vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. We tried the seafood platter, and it was incredible -- everything tasted so fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The sides really elevated the meal, especially the charro beans, which are a must-have with it. Country fried fresh water Catfish was just as good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and super satisfying. One of the sweetest touches was the complimentary blueberry muffins while waiting -- soft, fluffy, and honestly the perfect start before the meal. And the desserts... WOW. The cheesecake slice and carrot cake were both absolutely mouthwatering -- rich, moist, and the perfect way to end the meal. The service made the experience even better -- our server Anna was incredibly sweet, attentive, and welcoming. Just a heads-up: this place is popular for a reason, so expect a 20-30 minute wait, but it's 100% worth it. Plan ahead and go -- you won't regret it! Highly recommend if you're in Corpus Christi!

It all looked so good. My husband and I decided on the Mexican breakfast with 2 cheese con carne enchiladas, 2 over easy eggs, refried beans, flour tortillas and hash brown. The salsa had to be homemade, it was so good. It was the best part of our quick vacation. Also was really impressed by the wait staff. I counted 8 plates being hand delivered at the same time! Wow, impressive!

I really wanted to keep loving Bien Mérité, but after three attempts, I'm extremely frustrated. Each visit has involved inaccurate and constantly changing wait times. My first attempt on 4/10 around 2pm in the afternoon. It was just me and my 15month old baby, there was only 2-3 tables occupied and I was told 45 minute wait with an almost empty dining room. I asked the hostess due to me being 9 months pregnant and having a toddler if I could just at least sit down while waiting the additional 45 mins and was told no. So I totted out my baby and myself, bought pastries and left. The second attempt I was quoted an hour , waiting the full hour and checked back in with the hostess stand only to be told it was going to be an additional hour, on top of what we already waited again. Third attempt (Sunday, April 26) waited a full hour, checked in once again with the hostess and was told it is now going to be another 90 minutes on top of once again the hour we already waited. I understand waits happen, but this level of inconsistency feels disorganized and disrespectful of customers' time--especially when expectations are set incorrectly from the start. I'm just asking for transparency and honesty here. It's disappointing because the space is beautiful and I've always supported this business but the waitlist management and homestead stand seriously needs improvement on honesty and management of times.
