    Blackened Red Snapper over rice.
    Joe T.

One of my favorite places on earth, and I have reviewed it several times in the past, but not working in CC anymore I only get here during Sandfest. It was a chilly, overcast day so none of the standard beautiful sunny views, but the food was as good as ever. I almost always get the special, and this day was no different. I had the blackened redfish over rice, and it was fantastic. A couple different local brews and some great company made it a complete day.

My dinner here was great. The fish (a blackened Jerk Snapper) was cooked excellently and had good flavor. The seasoning and texture of the green beans was great, the fried shrimp were top notch and the rice was good too! Problem was just how long everything took even in regard to the estimate (waitress said our food would be out soon, but it took about 20 more minutes). This would be not so bad if the place had air conditioning, but me and the rest of my party were miserably hot - it's a given in a place like this. If you're going when it's cool out, I can recommend Doc's all day.

We arrived for dinner around 6:15 pm for dinner on a Friday night. The parking lots and street was packed! I went in to get on the list while my husband parked the car. I was greeted at the horses stand by 4 very lovely hostess that greeted me with great enthusiasm and eagerness to help me! I was told there was going to be about a 40 minute wait as they were quite busy; she handed me a beeper and we waited outside on the deck! There is bar downstairs, so you could wait down there until your table is ready. We were seated within 25 minutes. The food selection was fantastic! We ordered the blackened shrimp nachos to share and we split th crab stuffed flounder. The portion size of both items was more than enough for both of us! We did not finish ll of shrimp nacho dip. The food, the view and the service was OVER THE TOP! It was well worth the wait! Look forward to coming back! I attached a photo of our view but my food pictures were deleted by mistake! Trust me, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Stopped to eat at Doc's Seafood & Steaks on the trip home from Port A. The parking lot was full and the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday night. We were able to find parking and were greeted by the host. We were seated quickly with no wait and got a large booth in the dining area to accommodate our party of 7. It was too dark by the time we got there for us to enjoy the beautiful view. They had a live music performance which was enjoyable. The service was very friendly and attentive. Was very engaging with the kiddos at the table and a very friendly demeanor. I have to say that this time around the quality of the food was not as good as I remember. I ordered the Coastal bacon wrapped shrimp, 6 jumbo shrimp stuffed with cilantro lime cream cheese and wrapped in applewood bacon. The specialty side was squash and zucchini and a side of rice. They did provide me with a butter dipping sauce upon request. The shrimp was a bit overcooked and chewy and they were also a bit smaller than I remember. The kids in our party had a cheese burger and grilled cheese kids meal with apple sauce. When the grilled cheese sandwich came out and the kiddo did not want to eat because it was greasy and shaped like a circle; the server took it back to the kitchen to address the concerns. Also ordered the fried shrimp platter, 8 shrimp hand-breaded in panko and comes with fries, slaw, and hush puppies, tartar and cocktail sauce . Also had the catch of the day platter with mahi mahi served with rice and the vegetable of the day. The Costal cob salad with chicken includes fresh mixed greens with pico de gallo, cheese, egg, bacon and avocado. Over all a good dining experience with attentive and friendly service. Just wish the food had been on par with the last visit.

And back at Docs. My little one loved the kids flounder, and I had the the Ahi tuna. Delicious! We started with hush puppies which were so good - not greasy at all. Docs is always a class act

This place offers great food with stunning views of the sunset over the water. It can get busy, so expect a wait. If you have to wait, you can always head downstairs and hang out. They have a bar down there and a couple of games to play, like cornhole. I will warn you, though, parking can be really tough for dinner - even parking on the street can be hard to find. They have live music on most nights, but I'll warn you, sometimes the performer in the dining room can be a little on the loud side and just a tad annoying - it's not absolutely terrible though. They offer a decent selection of local and regional beers, but none on tap. They also have a full bar for your favorite cocktail. They have covered outdoor seating on the deck, but you can still see the sunset from inside if you are seated in the right area. When I was there, they had the big doors open, so a decent breeze was coming in, and you could see the sunset. The crab-stuffed flounder was my favorite - it's a must try! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Great service and food. Went on a Friday evening around 5pm and they were too busy. Got a seat outside on the patio and they had additional fans going to help keep it cool. Grant, was the person who assisted and I got one of the specials - Parmesan crusted redfish. This was amazing! The crust on the fish was crunchy and gave a nice contrast to the delicate fish inside that was cooked perfectly. The sauce on top was equally delicious and the only negative was it was a shrimp sauce however there may have been one or two pieces of shrimp. So, that could have been better. The green beans were seasoned well and the rice also flavorful. The restroom was sea decorated and a different set up with a split stall, one right by the entrance and the other on the far side with the sinks in-between. The views were great! Overall delicious food and good service, I'd recommend to pop in especially if you can make it for the sunset, has to be amazing.

Docs Seafood and Steaks is an absolute must if you're in Port A! We came just in time to catch the sunset, and the atmosphere was incredible, relaxed, coastal, and the perfect way to end the day. The service was fantastic too, quick, attentive, and super friendly, even during a busy season. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Snapper, and wow, it was huge and absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily a dish I'd get again. The rest of the table had the Fiesta Burger (with a veggie patty), a seafood platter, and the mahi-mahi, everything looked amazing! For appetizers, we tried the hush puppies and Wisconsin cheese curds, and those cheese curds are a 10/10 must-order. But the real star for me? The clam chowder, creamy, rich, and so good I'd come back just for another bowl. I'm definitely giving this place a four out of five, for the only reason of being the veggie burger had a little too much soy, and the fries were a little dry! But that is no reason to not come! This place is amazing! If you're looking for great seafood, friendly service, and an unbeatable view, Docs is the place to go!

If you're looking for seafood that'll make you question why you ever settled for frozen fish sticks, this is the spot. I went all in with the Seafood Lover platter: 1 flounder fillet, 4 shrimp, and a crab cake fried so perfectly, Gordon Ramsay himself would have shed a single tear. The shrimp? Honestly, I'm convinced they trained for the Olympics before they ended up on my plate. Now, the margaritas. I started with Doc's Margarita and thought, "Hmm, this is kind of weak." Fast forward to the last sip, and suddenly I'm smiling at strangers like we've been best friends since kindergarten. The Skinny Margarita, though? Hands down the winner-light, refreshing, and sneaky in the best way. Add in some great live music, an atmosphere that says, "Yes, order dessert, you're on vacation," and a waitress who deserves her own fan club. We had such a blast that we broke the golden rule of vacations: never eat at the same place twice. Yep, we went back the very next day. 10/10 -highly recommend. Bring stretchy pants.

Doc's Seafood & Steaks was the place my brother saw on the JFK Memorial Causeway Bridge (which becomes Hwy 358 headed towards Corpus Christi) and told our group of 11 he wanted to have dinner there. Once again, another long wait for dinner, but not quite as long as they estimated. I didn't know which area to choose, but downstairs was packed so I headed upstairs to get my name on the list. After dinner, my dad complained, "They had a shrimp boil special downstairs." Everyone seemed to enjoy the food - even my vegetarian (sometimes pesco-vegetarian) sister-in-law. I wasn't crazy about the live entertainment that night (June 20, 2025), but I have heard much worse. It was hard to carry a conversation because it was fairly loud most of the time. Our waitress was great, but of course I don't remember her name. The manager came by and checked on us - he was friendly also. It was refreshing to see more than just fried seafood on the menu, so here's what I ordered: + grilled coconut shrimp + Doc's paloma RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 3 | Price: 4

Love stopping here on our way to and from Port A! Always with several family members, they accompany our big group really well each time. The beers and different cocktails are our favorite reason to visit, although the food is a close second! Service is always top notch and we leave happy & full - a big win our book!

This is a go to spot for beautiful sunset views! We timed our arrival with this in mind. We ordered a few appetizers, which were ok. The clam strips were not as crunchy as we would have liked and the ceviche dip was a bit watery. The steak, while a bit overcooked, was nonetheless my favorite meal. The tuna sandwich was a nice surprise with a huge piece of medium rare aji tuna steak.

We came for the food and the views. Highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I appreciated the fact that on a Monday evening, they still have a musician that play live music for us. Nothing better than dining waterside with a cocktail and live music. Since it was our first time dining at Republic of Texas, we were unsure of the checkout process. Our server mentioned that we could charge the bill to our room, but we wanted to leave him a generous cash tip. Unfortunately, he walked by our table several times without acknowledging us, and we waited over 20 minutes before I finally had to get up and practically head toward the kitchen to give him our payment and tip. We still left a 20% tip because we understand how busy Saturday nights can be, but when guests are sitting there with to-go bags, it only takes a few seconds to check on them and see what they need. That was our only disappointment, and although it was frustrating, I would not take any stars away because of it. We ordered the Bison Steak, Ribeye, baked potato, au gratin potatoes, quail knots, scallop appetizer, crème brûlée, bread pudding, and bread. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered a white russian and my husband ordered one of their signature drinks, both were tasty. Our bill was $312 for 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 sides, 2 desserts. We came in about an hour before closing so the restaurant was nearly empty, but our waiter served us graciously and didn't miss a beat on amazing service. Here's my Clint Eastwood review, The Good, The Bad, and The Disappointing…read more The Good Location, not on SPID and all that congestion. Located on Spohn right off of S Staples, really nice location. This place is huge, with a giant bar, where we like to sit and dine, with an adjacent raw/Sushi bar, very nice. The bar offers a huge selection of adult beverage makings. We were celebrating our 39th anniversary, so a restaurant of this caliber is certainly appropriate. The drinks, a Tanqueray Martini with an Orange twist for her and a Manhattan straight up with four roses bourbon for me, were perfectly sized and delicious. The restaurant boasts a large freestanding humidor with a nice selection of cigars. I also noticed a wall of personal humidor lockers for customers to keep their personal cigars available. This all suggested a cigar room, but I never saw it. The wait staff, were mostly attentive. Instead of depending on your bartenders to deliver food, I'm more accustomed to restaurants, of this caliber, to have a dedicated wait staff for bar dining patrons. Especially considering they have a large number of high top tables for dining in the bar. Friday nights, like when we were there, get pretty hectic for the bartenders. For our second drink the bartender made mistakes on both our drinks, my wife's Martini came with Olives,(I liked them) instead of the twist of orange. My Manhattan came with her twist of orange instead of the usual Luxardo cherry. Perhaps if the bartenders just bartended they wouldn't make simple mistakes. ‍ . They were very nice and brought me a shot glass with several Luxardo cherries in it. Thank you Ladies! The food. We started with appetizers. My wife got their escargot that were traditionally prepared in an escargot serving dish rich with butter, garlic and a hint of citrus. They were delicious, albeit small. My wife was happy with them. I got their Crispy Calamari Atop Stir Fried Carrots, Green Onions & Cashews with a Kung Pao Sauce. This dish, for us, was the hit of the night. The calamari, instead of the rings so commonly served, were calamari strips. They were perfectly fried and the combination of the calamari, the vegetables and that kung pao sauce was absolutely mouth watering. If you like calamari I highly recommend this dish. You won't be disappointed. Entrees. My wife got their escargot Greek style rack of Lamb with spinach. The Lamb was perfectly seasoned and served medium-rare. It was absolutely delicious. If you like Lamb this is a great dish, oh and the chops were huge! The Bad. Nothing to see here. The Disappointing. I ordered the USDA Prime Ribeye with Citrus-Braised Baby Carrots & Whipped Potatoes and a Dijon Herbal Butter. I order my steaks cooked medium-rare "Pittsburgh style". First, everyone knows what a ribeye steak looks like, it has that very distinctive shape, you can't miss it. If what they served me was a ribeye, then I'm the true Bad Bunny! When the entrees were delivered they didn't give us steak knives, we had to ask for them. Now maybe they were that confident in the tenderness of the meat that they didn't feel we needed steak knives. Or maybe, just maybe, they should be tending bar instead of delivering food. Second the menu clearly states USDA Prime Ribeye. I know what that is, and what was served me wasn't that. As I stated I order my steaks "Pittsburg style". What that means is the steak is first cooked to an internal temperature that is 5 to 10° short of medium-rare. The steak is then immersed in either melted butter or tallow and then immediately thrown on a very hot grill. This causes the grill to engulf the steak in flames charring the outside of the steak and raising the internal temperature to medium-rare. I do it all the time on my backyard grill. While my steak did have some charring, it wasn't Pittsburg style. Conclusions. Would we go back? Absolutely if for nothing else to get that crispy calamari. Would I order the steak again? Not without getting some assurances that I get a Rib Eye and they know how to cook it Pittsburg style. I guess, in the end, this has all the potential to be a high-end steakhouse, for our visit I felt they didn't meet that expectation.

The menu is quite extensive.I want to come again and try their seafood. Inside is kind of dark with a lot of wood. Music is playing at a nice volume to allow for conversation. It's actually pretty quiet inside. I liked that. Restroom was very clean and smelled freshly cleaned. They had real metal utensils, cloth napkins, and real ceramic plates. Nice! My salad plate was chilled. . I asked for Ranch dressing and I am pretty sure it was homemade. My salad was crisp and very fresh with no brown or weird pieces. The t also comes with bitter and biscuits. Even the green beans tasted homemade and were very fresh and flavorful. The steak was outstanding. Smoky, juicy, tender, and cooked as ordered, med rare. I am really glad I chose this restaurant for dinner tonight. I will definitely be back next month.
