Used to live in corpus and wife and I decided to come down here for our baby moon. Cassie was our server and never let our waters go halfway. Food was great we got the calamari and was just the right amount of crispy but not too greasy. Wife and I both got the fried shrimp and both tasted fresh out of the gulf. Every here seemed be local too. If you're looking for great seafood at a reasonable price and a chill fun vibe this is the place. read more

My family of 9 decided to give this place a try. We called around 7:00 PM to check the line, and they told us the wait would be about 30 minutes, which we were totally fine with. We arrived just nine minutes later at 7:09 PM, but the host was missing from the stand for a solid 10 minutes. When she finally showed up, she told us the wait would actually be an hour and a half. We weren't seated until around 8:25 PM, and after ordering, we waited another 15 minutes for our food. Because the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM, we were literally the last people there. However, the front-of-house chaos was completely salvaged by the rest of the experience. Our server, Danielle, was amazingly kind, sweet, and incredibly awesome! On top of that, the food was absolutely amazing, tasty, and served piping hot, with 1 of the hurricane combo being really cold. My brother couldn't finish it. And the steak was dry, and needed more flavor. I will say the chicken tenders were ginormous and very juicy. The atmosphere was also great very comforting with nice, beachy vibes. The Verdict: A incredibly frustrating wait and a rough start with the host, but Danielle's stellar service and the fantastic food made the night worth it. read more

Came in to eat because of the high rating and was very disappointed. The first positive was the restaurant is very clean. The staff is super friendly when they do attend to you because they don't come by too often. But why was I disappointed? The fish tacos had about an ounce of fish in each taco. They also didn't taste too good. We also ordered the big fish platter and that was ok except it came with the same tiny fish slivers. The food also takes a long time to come out. We waited a long time for our drinks and our food. Sorry I won't be back. read more

Laguna Reef - Sliver of Fish tacos - Seafood Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

We were in Corpus Christi for a week long writer's retreat. On our last night, we were going to a seafood restaurant. We could see one out of our window, so we decided to go there. All three of the people we asked about the spot said the same thing - it was okay years ago, but not any longer. They all suggested the same place: Laguna Reef. They were SPOT ON!!! It kind of looks like a "local dive" from the outside -- which I love to try out! We were greeted like old friends. The simple menu had something perfect for both of us. She got the grilled shrimp. You can see how large they were! She could hardly eat them all because of the size. But they were so good she couldn't bear to leave a single bite! And since I do NOT like seafood, I got the chicken fried steak. It was wonderful! Check out the cross section picture for proof this wasn't a mirage. The onion rings were sublime- crunchy yet soft. Shortly after we arrived, the floodgates opened. They went from 3 tables filled, including us, to packed! Every table was filled with happy customers. Given that onslaught, you'd expect service to fall off, but it didn't. At least WE didn't note it. We heard this was "the best seafood place in Corpus Christi," and I believe it! read more

Great fish sandwich! My mom had the shrimp and onion rings. My wife had the chicken strips. The service was first rate. Our waitress was really nice and had a great smile. The whole place makes you feel at home in a sleepy fishing village. read more

We've been here several times for lunch and also for dinner. It's very casual inside, but clean and the servers are all terrific. We really like their fish, shrimp and sides, and the prices seem very reasonable compared to other seafood places. Menu has a lot of non-seafood selections too like chicken fried steak, burgers, etc. but we keep coming back for the seafood!! read more

The service is incredibly and all employee are attentive and friendly. Though the food is the issue, the oysters are canned and almost impossible to consume without gagging. Despite the oysters the main factor that is going to stop me from coming back is the fish. Recently an employee has told me that the fish that is served is Swai also known as Basa. A Corpus Christi seafood restaurant serving a fish native to the Mekong river in Asia is still something I don't understand? Swai is a fish known for its ability to live in harsh environments. With this comes fish farmers with no care for the health of this fish, as long as it can sell. If you were to research Swai farms you would also be disgusted by the laziness of this establishment. Serve native salt water fish that the people and tourist of Corpus are expecting instead of a fish that averages 1.8 dollars per pound. read more

Laguna Reef - Too well done! - Seafood Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

We have visited Laguna Reef many times before in their old location. The food was good. This is our first time to go to this new location on Waldron Road. We are very disappointed with their food. We had ordered fried shrimp. The shrimp were mushy and the tails of the shrimp were BLACK. Everyone knows that shrimp with black heads or tails are not fresh. I wonder if they have a manager that oversees the quality of their food? This is a seafood restaurant that serves rotten shrimp. I was lucky I didn't get food poisoning. We will not go there again. read more

Laguna Reef is a Hidden Gem Freshly remodeled Friendly and professional staff. Great menu And excellent food and drinks All resonably priced. Definitely our go to spot to eat or just to have few drinks. read more

Food was very bland! I had the stuffed flounder. It was very dry and over cooked. The stuffing was just under 2-3 very small filets. Too dry and no flavor. I was very hungry for this and searched on Yelp for the best around and this is the best it came up with. Chain restaurants are much better! read more

Excellent. Third time is a charm. Perfect-great service-menus-decor-PRICES-FOOD. If you like seafood, this is a can't miss! Great location on Waldron, across from CCPD. REASONABLE! Try the Jalapeño Hush-puppies (ask, not on the menu) We will be back! read more

The food was amazing and the service was fast, friendly, and patient! Definitely a place I will return to.

First time here, my wife and I went during Saturday dinner rush. Very clean, seated quickly. Casey was awesome! Very attentive, very quick , although she had one table with a large group as well as ours. Gave awesome help/advice as to what was good to try on a first visit. We shared the Hurricane platter, everything on it was great. Fried with a light, crispy batter, piping hot. Will definitely go back. read more

The food was great! Grilled shrimp had flavor and was great! Our waitress was kind and courteous. Enjoyed seeing all the pictures on the wall. My family and I enjoyed dining at the original location and glad to see it reopened. We will come back when we are in town next time. read more

Ordered 2 fish (grilled), 2 shrimp (fried), 2 oysters (fried) and one side. Got he mashed potatoes. Shrimp and Oysters were of good size, the massed potatoes were served in a four ounce Styrofoam cup. For the price and right off the coast, a normal person would expect a nice size piece of fish. Not from Laguna Reef, two (2) paper thin no longer then 5 inches, and at the widest maybe one inch, one inch and a quarter. This was a to go order, not sure if that makes a difference in portion size. I will order in on my next visit. I generally try a place a few times to make sure my experience was an anomaly. read more

Great fresh seafood. Mom and dad used to go here two or three times a week before she passed away. Family owned with great staff.
