Good food for sure, a bit on the pricey side for breakfast. Being a family-inclusive establishment, there's a good chance groups of kids are present and when we were here, there was a table of very badly behaved adults AND children which created a very disruptive environment. Staff just stood and stared at them instead of asking them to take it down about 8 notches. It really took a good bit of enjoyment away for a lot of customers. Since breakfast was available, we went in that direction...for lunch. Served all day. I got the Islander and wife got the Silver Alert. Mine was basically a larger version of hers. The sausage was really tasty. The hashbrowns on my plate (she didn't get them) were exactly like McD's or other fast food joints. I was hoping for homemade style and not frozen fast food style. The eggs tasted a little odd to me...maybe the oil used? Still tasty, though. Bacon cooked crispy. Good breakfast overall. Wife did want to try a starter and she chose the baked goat cheese/toast appetizer. She really enjoyed it...not really for my palate. Personal taste there. Several people who left reviews mentioned the wait time. We were told it would be 30 minutes when we arrived...but there's really no place for people to wait. However, they found a booth for a group sitting just inside the door and then asked if we would like to sit there. Sure...problem solved in about 5 minutes. Aside from the wait/no wait situation, it took a really long time for service and arrival of food. It's a smallish seating area overall for such business. I want to start by saying that the decoration to this establishment was amazing. I loved it and the servers were great! Now my pork belly Bennie barely had pot belly , my eggs were overcooked not poached, the bread at the bottom was so burnt on the corners i had to fight it , the hollandaise sauce was not it. The hash was ok but it lacked a sauce or salsa it was just eggs on top of a bunch of potatoes and again one egg was over easy the other was fully cooked just inconsistent. My son had the chicken spicy sandwich and the breading just fell apart and had no spicy to it just tasted like honey. Drinks were amazing which was the highlight for me! Had a late brunch here yesterday and food was really good. Breakfast at 2pm? oh yes! I like that we got there during happy hour too. I love how it's open seating and doesn't feel crowded. Ridley's was busy when we arrived, but we were able to order at the outside bar with Michael. Michael was wonderful! We had an hour wait time, but we were served much faster by staying at the outside bar. Our food was fantastic and the drinks were so creative! Ridley's has baked goods at the front, their own starter that you can get before noon for free, and jarred items like jams and pickles. Michael suggested the pickled green beans and they were bomb! All I have to say is be prepared to WAIT! Especially if you're going in on a Sunday for Brunch. We waited about an hour and 20 mins to get a seat but let me tell you IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Also... When we ordered it took about 10 mins for the food to come out so it was fast. Everything we got was amazing. The Chicken Fried Prime Rib was our top favorite with the John Jackson pancakes coming in second. Their sourdough bread with butter and strawberry jelly was amazing too. I was there for the fist time to have brunch. Their menu selections are very good, it was a bit difficult to choose but at the end decided on the garden frittata and it was amazing!! I really want to love this place but inconsistent food quality and "island" service are getting in the way. Today was my third visit after a promising second, but it was a failure. The service was slow, food came out at all different times for our party of 6, and it was not served hot. I started ordering a Pacifico Michelada which was flavorless. Turns out they don't even have Pacifico but the waitress didn't know that and didn't bother say anything until later. I ordered an appetizer, "grits of fire" that had the Scoville rating of ketchup. It wasn't bad, just unremarkable. For brunch I ordered the crab cake Benedict which was served with hard poached eggs (no run at all) and was room temperature. There was a scant amount oh hollandaise sauce on it. They did bring some properly poached eggs about 10 minutes after. While we were a little disappointed at first (a 30 minute wait told to us by the host turned into 60+ minutes, ran out of dishes on the menu, and dusty/dirty seats) the food was great and definitely for sharing! Very poor first impression. I sat at the bar at the same time as another couple and our specialty coffee orders were taken together. After they were reseated at a booth, I watched the bartender make their drinks and hand deliver them while I continued waiting at the bar. Over the next 10-15 minutes, the bartender passed by me repeatedly without any acknowledgment or update, despite my attempts to make eye contact. During that time he took other orders, rang up checks, and stepped away from the bar several times. I eventually got up to leave and told him to cancel my cappuccino since it had still not been made. Basic communication or even a quick acknowledgment would have gone a long way. For a first visit, this was a frustrating experience and not a great reflection of the service standards here. I am a food aficionado, and I love trying all kinds of restaurants. Being from Texas...I've had some dang good burgers in my time. I can undoubtedly say The Brunch Burger with the fried potatoes with ranch and hollidase sauce on the side was the best burger I've ever had in my life. I also had the 'Packery Paloma' which was a very crisp and refreshing drink. The food came out in less than 10 minutes, great music, beautifully decorated place. Food- Biscuits and gravy good, but need to add some hot sauce and temperature needed to be much warmer that when served. It kinda felt like it was waiting for other food to fly. Texas Benny and the Crab Benny both delicious. We bet it would be artificial crab - pleasantly amazingly surprised- odds are fresh lump crab minus big lumps. Good! Sweet Potato Hash delightful and rustic-very good. Garden Frittata very good. French Onion Soup -yummo! Every poached egg perfect and every meal better thank the description on the menu. Everyone who works in this restaurant should go thank the kitchen staff about 10 times a day. The food is the only redeeming quality of this restaurant. It's clear to me it was started by someone with great food who has no idea how to run an actual restaurant. The problems started when we walked in and the hostess is...nowhere to be found. We took several steps in the restaurant looking for her and eventually found her after a few minutes where she then acted like we were crazy for going farther than the entry way. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. I can normally deal with a long wait (sometimes the sign of a good restaurant) but this (90 minute) wait seemed to rest mostly on the shoulders of the hostess and the layout of the restaurant. After putting our name on the list, we saw the coffee stand and bakery they have for "quick" takeout orders and thought "perfect! I'd love a coffee while I wait". Unfortunately, everyone was on island time. We ordered coffees and got them about 20 minutes later. I could've driven to island joes, gotten a coffee and come back in that time. While we drank them and waited for our table, we stood in the bakery area admiring the goods. The hostess comes up to us and asks "who are you guys?" We answer with our party name. "Okay well this is not my waiting area, I'm about to seat guests, so you can't be standing here. Please go wait outside", harsh wording, but we went outside. Then 30 minutes later we asked about the wait status and the same hostess said "You guys decided to get baked goods and eat at our outside tables" to which we said "No, you asked us to leave the area and wait outside", she stared at us dumbfounded and eventually said "okay, your party will be next." We then proceeded to wait another 45 minutes. Frankly, I am confused at the entire front section of this restaurant. I think someone was in the island sun a little too long when they designeThey have the bakery and coffee stand for quick to go orders but it is not quick and there is no place to wait while you wait 20 minutes for your coffee. Instead, they have 2-3 two top tables in front of it. I think they would do a lot better and sell a lot more coffees to people while they're waiting/people popping in for a quick coffee and pastry if they got rid of the tables and made it a small waiting area. If there's a 30 minute wait for a table, I have no problem waiting if I can get a coffee right away. In addition, the lady manning the counter would inexplicably leave for long periods of time. One of our party got two kolaches, went to pay for them, and no one was there. She waited for 10 minutes before finally walking away. We eventually had to have our waitress add them to our tab when we sat down. Another time, I witnessed a customer trying to order a coffee but the lady had left. The hostess saw the situation and tried to help only to realize once the customer ordered that she had no idea how to work the POS system and go looking for the lady who normally mans the counter. We had a party of 6 so I can understand some wait on a busy Sunday and the need for a larger table. However, I witnessed the table we eventually sat at clean and open for nearly an hour. I think the restaurant needs modular seating rather than all booths. You're not doing your hostess any favors by making her seat everyone in booths where the number of seats is fixed. It's an inefficient use of space. Once we sat down, it was a very quick turnaround (approximately 45 minutes for all 6 of us to sit, order, eat, pay and leave). However, it's clear that operationally, there could be improvements. Our waitress informed us they were out of clean glasses at 1030 in the morning. My "bottomless" coffee was never refilled. They forgot an order and someone from the kitchen had to bring it out after all the other orders were on the table. The food was good which is why it got 2 stars but everything else about this restaurant is not working as intended, especially at the menu price points. I would not come back and eat here again. We were in Port A for three days in the middle of the week. We stopped here on Tuesday for brunch/lunch. No wait, pancakes were huge, bacon perfectly extra crispy, and Julie's French Toast was perfect. My only slight disappointment was my over medium eggs were over hard. Not as big a deal as if on a burger, and still well seasoned and tasty. Wednesday went went back for "Social Hour"from 2:00-4:00. The Nueces Brewery beers on tap were cold and tasty. Julie's espresso martini was delicious and beautiful. We had hot honey shrimp and mussels blanco to eat. The shrimp was plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked, and the hot honey packed just the perfect amount of heat. The mussels were just plain delicious, served with house baked bread to sop the blanco sauce. Finally, breakfast on the way out of town Thursday was a treat. Julie had perfect blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs. My Kickin' Shrimp Frittata was also delicious with plump, juicy grilled shrimp and a great Cajun sauce. Service all three days was great. Waitress actually brought the syrup bottle out so Julie could see if it had corn syrup in it, since corn products don't agree with her. The place has a nice relaxed bar and grill vibe, and has a GREAT assortment of baked breads, quiches and sweets. We will definitely be back next time we're at Port A!! read more

Stumbled upon Ridley's on an early morning on the island! They were open at 9AM on a Thursday morning and I'm so glad that they were. The entire staff was super friendly and our waitress Genevieve was so helpful! I was torn between 3 options: one of the items with brisket (because WHAT,) banana pancakes and finally the B&B burger. I was in the mood for a burger so i opted for the B&B Burger and I was NOT disappointed. I got it with cheese only & the sauce/pickles on the side, it also came with potato chips on the side. Those were some of the best chips I've ever had, they're CLEARLY homemade and it shows. The sweet pickles had a spicy punch!
