The food itself tastes good and the portions are generous - next time I will just order for pick up. Came on a Sunday with my toddler, and it was very busy so I expected a bit of a wait on things. I have been here before for Sunday brunch with a large group and had a good experience, but today was not great. Got seated after only about 15 mins - totally reasonable. After that, multiple things went wrong. 1- I was initially given a high chair with a broken buckle, so I didn't fasten the straps and my toddler slipped down through the opening. She was ok, thankfully, and we got another one with working buckle. 2 - lots of flies. I felt like I was fighting them for my food. At one point I counted 5 at a time. 3 - I wasn't given utensils when I was seated or at the same time as my food. My food was served, then I had to wait for the waitress, then wait for the utensils. 5 mins of calming the hungry screaming toddler and watching our food cool down was not very cool. Same thing happened to the table next to me. 4 - they ran out of cups, and my coffee was served in a styrofoam cup with a plastic spoon. It tasted like plastic and I didn't enjoy it. When I saw that I was charged $4 for it, I asked the waitress to strike it from my bill, which she did. Individually these things were not a big deal, but overall it was just not great. Our food looked great at first glance, but the hygiene and service were terrible. Our server, Erick, was polite, but when our food first arrived, there was a hair in the potatoes. It wasn't a big deal to us, things happen. He apologized and took it back to be remade. A few minutes later, the plate came back out. When I lifted the egg, we found another hair trapped directly in the yolk and when we notified the staff, the manager came over, pulled the hair out, and defensively said, "I'm not sure how it got there, none of our cooks have long hair. They're males." It felt completely accusatory, implying we put it there, she hadn't touched the plate, and the hair was literally stuck under the other eggs. The comment completely ruined my friend's appetite. We told Erick we no longer wanted the food and just wanted the check. The manager brought the bill, unsmilingly said, "I removed it off your bill" and walked away without another word. Our server Velma, one of the managers, was amazing. This is the best food in the Corpus Christi area, and we drive 45 minutes from Rockport every time just to eat here. The owner is so sweet and caring, and is willing to speak with customers about his story, which is crazy btw you have to hear it!!! Chicken is always crispy and flavorful. Food comes out quick, and servers are SO attentive. I've never been to a restaurant that I feel this passionate about, and I eat ALL DAY LONG. From the outside, very unassuming place. We arrived at 10 am on a Monday morning and got one of the last available parking spots so I assumed good things were ahead. That was an understatement as we were greeted immediately at the door where we noticed on a video playing that they are very farm to table and make their own corned beef as well as other items on the menu. Our waitress promptly greeted us after being seated and took our drink order. The menu has many options but some of their breakfast stars are the various hash offerings. I had the corned beef hash which is served with a large biscuit and two pasture raised eggs (your choice) while my wife had the crab hash served the same way. Food arrived quickly served in a cast iron skillet and was delicious. Portions are generous so come hungry! Mikayla took excellent care of us during our meal and all the servers seemed to be doing likewise with their customers. The food is a cut above your normal breakfast place as wife's hash was full of crab and her over easy eggs were cooked well. My scrambled eggs were also cooked nicely and I almost couldn't finish my corned beef hash due to the large portion. All in, this is a great spot and we will come back to check out some of their other dishes. Well done! read more

I'm thoroughly impressed with the breakfast from chops and eggs. My husband and I both had hash and it was so delicious and flavourful. The portion sizes are huge so definitely getting a great bang for your buck. The service was also super friendly and very fast for a Saturday morning. Only downside is that there were plenty of flies flying around the establishment so you had to be on guard to make sure they didn't land on the food. If they could get that under control this place would be a 5/5 in my books. read more

I ordered the gluten-free fried chicken Eggs Benedict. I was served a beautiful creation of gluten fried chicken with amazing spicy sauce on top of gluten-free buns on a large platter of fluffy yummy whipped mashed potatoes. The chef and owner came over and in our conversation I found that everything they make is gluten-free homemade from scratch. No more gluten-free out of a box brunches served with a bunch of butter and syrup. We went on a day trip to the beach and tried out Chops & Eggs on a recommendation from family. We are very happy we gave it a try, as it was, overall, a very delicious and satisfying meal. The ambience is a little odd and disjointed, with sports on TVs giving a sports bar feel, random decor giving eclectic diner vibes, and the overall layout seeming more formal. A designer's input would not go amiss for the interior. We were greeted and seated quickly and began perusing the rather large menu. So many items sounded delish! We ended up ordering the fried green tomatoes and corn bites for our appetizers and beef tips and the 10oz sirloin for our meals. I got the house salad with my meal and they generously swapped out the salad for a cup of the tomato basil soup for my husband (who doesn't eat salad). The apps came out in a timely manner and we were suitably impressed by the tower of tomatoes! Each app came with house made dipping sauces which added some lovely heat to each bite. The tomatoes were crispy on the outside and well done inside, I ate them all as I knew they would never reheat and still be edible. We took most of the corn bites home with us. The salad was fresh and the dressing had a nice bite to it, it was also a generous portion. The soup didn't come out until after the entrees for some reason, and wasn't very hot, unfortunately. We took most of that home as well. We also had a difficult time getting our waters refilled, our waiter would disappear for long periods of time back into the kitchen. The star of the night was the beef tips, which were tender and savory, with a lovely au jus gravy with mushrooms, carrots, and onions swimming in it over a bed of mashed potatoes. It was a joy to eat and my husband much preferred it to his steak, which was sadly very overdone (he ordered medium, it came well done). We also had to ask for gravy for his mashed taters, and they came dry, which we found kind of odd. Who eats dry mashed potatoes unless they are topped with cheese? Anyway, we left quite stuffed and with enough leftovers for a whole other meal. This will be our go-to stop when we come to the beach! read more

The containers for drinks are metal which to me is soooo much better than plastic or even glass. I got a regular 2 egg breakfast & I have to say, I was disappointed with the scrambled eggs. I told her medium and they were dry and it certainly was not 2 eggs. The little girl at the next table had more eggs on her mini mouse pancake plate than I had on my plate; and her eggs were perfectly cooked (nice sheen, not dry, not runny). My hubby had the crab cake hash with over easy eggs - eggs overcooked (more like over hard). But the potatoes were excellent. They were crispy, hot, & seasoned. Would I go again? Yes. Yet, I would probably think twice before ordering eggs again. They were disappointing . But, I'm interested in trying some of the other items especially those with lamb & beef. My family just had a late lunch at Chops & Eggs. Jeremy was our server, and he was outstanding! We ordered the crepes with Nutella, eggs Benedict and a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. We asked Jeremy for extra plates to share. The crepes were thin and delicious. The eggs Benedict included generous slices of ham, eggs cooked correctly and the hollandaise sauce was great.
