I'm going to be fair with Chops & Eggs with where they stand with me at this and more recent visits. I will, however, say they have been wildly inconsistent with both food preparation and service quality A LOT over the years, even before the pandemic. I also have to preface my review as being skewed towards what I have usually ordered, which is meat and eggs, and not necessarily reflective of what most people come here to eat. This visit was very pleasant. Service was very good, and so was the food. I got the T-Bone & Eggs plate from the Famous Chops section of the menu, which is what I usually get unless I'm getting one of their omelets to go. The atmosphere is alright. It has this country(ish) vibe which I guess makes sense for its Southside patronage. The only thing I can really complain about is the incessant barrage of bro-country, but again, location, so no dings here. I will add that I think it's really cool they do things like using cage free eggs, and offer non-traditional items like duck bacon. All-in-all, not a bad place if you're on the Southside and are looking for a good country breakfast, brunch or supper! read more

I'm from Dubai and this place has the best authentic Dubai chocolate I tried in the states! and no wonder to why the chef himself grew up in Dubai. The flavor is so rich from the Belgium chocolate and PISTACHIOS. For the first time I had the pistachio flavor with the cheesecake and crepes!! Busy, busy, showed up around noon on Sunday. Place is pretty busy which is a good sign. Seated quickly as it was just the wife and I. Coffee is good and they put a decanter out for you, so no asking for another cup. I had the pork chops and eggs plus hash browns. Very good. Wife had the corn beef hash and eggs also very tasty. Service has never been great but now it really sucks. We sat in the middle of the restaurant for over 20 minutes with no service. Wait staff all around us with no one noticing that we had no drinks. We finally got up to leave and then someone asked if everything was OK. They moved us to another section, we placed our order only to wait another 25 minutes for pancakes and eggs. Food came out piece by piece with a 10 mi gap between my food and my wife's food being served Its clear their is no front of the house management. Hostess was trying to figure out who was next after forgetting to take down names for parties that were waiting to be seated. Food is still good but who wants to deal with the headache of trying to eat there. They also need to clean the place up some. Front door slams shut, benches in waiting area need paint, menus are all tattered and worn. This could be a 5 start restaurant but someone has it set on autopilot and its starting to fail. Very good experience Ok so we are from CT and the North East is known for dinners so admittedly our expectations are most likely much higher on breakfast joints than most in the area. That being said we really had a good breakfast. The hostess and waitress were so nice so service was excellent. The food was very good but I can't go epic with a 5 star review. Again we are used to dinners in the North East and the competition is stiff but everything was cooked great, tasted good and we will be back to try some more dishes and possibly review again. We have been here a few times before, and the food is good-today, we stopped on a whim. My husband ordered a vegan omelet, I the quinoa and beet salad. Now, the description of this salad did not include beets, although it wa in the name, so I specifically asked our server if it had them, she asked another server and it was confirmed that indeed, it had beets. Of course, when it came-no beets. so I pointed this out to our server, and the manager came over. (mind you, we were all very polite during these exchanges). Evidently they were totally out of beets. he offered to take it off our bill, and just charge for the (extra) eggs I had requested on top of the salad. Totally acceptable, and I appreciated the offer. when it came time to pay, both the manager and server offered to box up the salad for us as "it will only be thrown away". again, acceptable, and unexpected. I have to give kudos to both the server and the manager for the way they handled this kind of weird situation, and I will be more inclined to return given their excellent way of handling this issue. read more

Well this place is ok... not great.... I was super disappointed when I ordered my wild caught salmon farm Benedict :/ Yeah it was definitely not an eggs Benedict like I'm use to.... Because the eggs were scrambled not poached like a Benedict should be. Anyway .... That was completely my fault for not reading the fine print on top of the farm benedict sign on the menu. There was not much hollandaise sauce on it either and I had to ask the server for more on the side. Overall I had a plate that looked like mush LOL. If you don't like your food on your plate touching....I Highly don't recommend this option. I will say my strawberry banana flapjacks were delicious. They don't use real strawberries it's just from a can kinda like the kind they use for strawberry cheesecake. My mom ordered biscuits and gravy and she said they were delicious. Overall I guess I'd say I'd come back to try something else on the menu. We came here with a big family group so our server was quite busy and it was hard sometimes to catch him for a drink refill but then again it was a Sunday morning and the wait time for a table was about 30-45 minutes. Firstly, the plain has potatoes are TO DIE FOR!!! They are perfect! I wanted to give this place 5 stars because the food and service (from our server) was incredible! The ambiance is not inviting; it is hectic, parking is a nightmare, the wait in BEYOND long, the restaurant is dirty, & other waitstaff were outright rude to their customers and sarcastic. The food is delicious. The chorizo was extra salty and the pancakes were slightly underdone in the center. The hash, eggs, biscuit, and bacon were perfectly executed. I wish this owner would do a standalone location with plenty of parking and seating. Corpus needs this type of food. The food has personality and the menu has something for EVERYONE. read more

This place was definitely one for the books. The inside was cleaned overall, carpet was run down but it didn't freak me out or anything, great customer service from the morning team. Joliee was our server and she was amazing, attentive, funny and courteous - she really kept our table flowing. Thank you Joliee for the laughter and great jokes. Now onto the food. I ordered the chorizo hash that had Jalapeños, and cooked potatoes squares that also included side of eggs and a biscuit delivered on a skillet, and my husband ordered the big ol' pig omelette that had bacon, ham, sausage, cheese and green peppers, topped with some type of chipotle sauce that was freakin delicious!!! Let me tell you, the food was DELICIOUS!!!! I would definitely recommend and will return to the lunch and dinner times to check those meals out.
