Ate here yesterday in the food was far from great. The special was a sirloin steak with shrimp and two sides. Baked potato was OK but got a cream of chicken soup as one of my sides . Soup was bland tasted like chunks of chicken and raw flour with no flavoring in the thick soup custard like texture. The steak was thin and long and dried out after a quick sear on the grill. Nolan's is a good spot to come to if you want a good meal. Not super fancy, but they will always provide a good meal. Ordered catfish strips, which were delicious but the portion was somewhat small for an order. The potato salad was delicious. The service was excellent and very helpful. Low noise, and somewhat dim. Consistently good food and service. It's not fine dining by any means but I can always count on a good, solid, fresh, hot, tasty meal. The menu is limited which I think is a good thing. That way they can concentrate on cooking what they know and do best. I like the chicken fried steak, fried catfish, and the BBQ Poorboys but my favorite is the shrimp plate. The shrimp are fresh not Cisco. They are plump enough to actually bite through without a ton of breading. You know you are eating shrimp. My favorite sides are fried okra and potato salad. Their side salad is wilted some times. For dessert their homemade cake slices are good. They are tall but thin which is fine because they are so rich. With the sad state of shrimp in this town and seafood in general, Nolan's is actually the best there is. If I want excellent, have extra cash, and am up to a road trip, I go to King's Inn. read more

Pretty good food, had the Chicken Fried Steak. Now it was good, the gravy was a a bit disappointing. Not sure what type of gravy it was but it sure wasn't a southern gravy. The food is consistent and all homemade. I had the Catfish which was delicious. My sides were corn on the cob and French fries. They could maybe give a few more fries but I didn't come out feeling over stuffed. The staff are super nice and helpful. They come and check on you to make sure you have all you need. I had their fried shrimp with a side of mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. It, also, comes with hush puppies. They gave me both brown and white gravy as I didn't know which I'd like more. They originally gave me 5 shrimp, and the gentleman that brought my food realized that I was supposed to have been given 6 and brought me the last one. The shrimp was fresh and perfectly done. The hush puppies were a little doughy in the center. The potatoes were cold. The brown gravy tasted like it was just beef broth. The white gravy was ok but needed a little salt and pepper. My husband got in line to order for me, and due to a sever spine problem and using a cane, I went to sit down in a booth. A waitress told me I could not sit down and was terribly rude. I tried to explain that my husband was in line and I could not stand. A man then came over and really got rude. He said that the tables and booths were for the people in line and that I could just sit on the hard bench and wait. I told him I was very upset and we would just leave. I ordered a to go order and when I picked it up I checked my order the order was all wrong. But they had already charged my credit card so they voided that transaction. She ignored my husband when he asked her for butter so ok no big deal I got up and brought it to him. She personally brought out the food and then said we ran out of rolls and would have to wait 5 minutes, So I said we can wait. So she hid them under her shirt and took them to a table in the back as I approached she stared at me awkwardly for a bit before coming back buttering one of the rolls she hid and wrapping it in foil. WOW! We had an amazing dinner and experience at Nolan's this past Friday night. Kevin and his wife could not have been more welcoming to my family and it made our evening so memorable. We told them we would see them the same time next year, during our annual trip to the beach vault in PA. (We had dined at another one of their locations during the height of Covid the previous year.) However, our night was so memorable, that after a full day at the beach, we went back Saturday night and took our friends. Once again, Kevin and Claire made us feel so welcomed and special. My son had the double chicken fried steak with two kinds of potatoes both nights. We also had salmon, talapia, steak, chopped steak, and grilled chicken. We all cleaned our plates (except the kids did not eat their veggies) and although we were so full, we had cake both nights. The homemade cake is DELICIOUS!!!! I've had mixed experiences here, and they are largely based on what I order. I ordered chicken fried steak and they managed to do a decent job. I ordered a sirloin and it was tough and came with a hilarious looking garnish consisting of a random slice of tomato and a peace of lettuce.
