Came all the way from Rockport to try this place out. Definitely worth the drive. Had the gumbo, crab cakes, Philly and a boil. The food was all great and extra filling. The waitress was really friendly and helpful. The location looks very well kept and new. Can't wait to come back!

    One truly amazing banana split!!

Great food! Waitresses is one very busy person, she took our order, made drinks, delivered food to table and even had time to be the Bingo caller!! Definitely worth stopping by for dinner or just a drink!! We Ended the meal with a banana split that was truly amazingly delicious!!

I had high hopes for a new place for fried shrimp. My shrimp were dark and overcooked, rubbery. The fries were so overcooked they were hollow. The gumbo was just ok. I will give it another try on a weekday.

Exactly what I was craving! Perfectly cooked gulf shrimp with a crispy corn bread breading. The seasoned fries definitely the way to go and the hushpuppies while being a little on the small side were homemade and quite tasty. GET THE HORSERADISH, you'll thank me later!

    The gumbo. Just ok.

Giving 2 stars because the place is nice inside and it's clean. Might be an ok place to have a beer and watch a game. The food wasn't good. My coworker and I each got a cup of gumbo. The gumbo has 1 shrimp on top and then tiny diced pieces of chicken and sausage in it. So, pick one? make it chicken & sausage or seafood but not both. It was also very thick so it was more of a stew. All that said, the gumbo was edible so I ate that. My crab nachos were horrible. Melted cheese on chips with lettuce and diced tomatoes on top and the "crab" was just this gray stuff that tasted like rotten seafood. I've never seen crabmeat that looked like that in my life and it tasted worse than it looked. Couldn't eat it. My coworker got the shrimp basket and said it was ok. To top it off crab nachos, shrimp basket, 2 cups of gumbo was $50. I rarely give negative reviews but the 4.5 star rating here is deceiving.

Coconut shrimp basket with orange marmalade. Delicious and packed with flavor.

Butter Churn If…read moreyou're anywhere near Aransas Pass and you haven't eaten at Butter Churn, you're flat-out missing out. From the moment you walk in, you can feel it -- this isn't some corporate chain going through the motions. This place is dialed in. It is probably one of the most put-together restaurants I've ever had the privilege of visiting. Every detail feels intentional. Clean lines, modern touches, spotless floors, organized buffet, upbeat energy -- they hit every mark. The décor has personality without being overdone. It feels like a true family restaurant -- warm, authentic, and welcoming -- but with a level of polish most places never achieve. The service? Exceptional. Real smiles. Real hospitality. You're not just another table. You feel seen and taken care of. Now let's talk about the brisket. Unbelievable. I had to ask how they were doing it, and Mark was more than happy to walk me through his process. When brisket is smoked low and slow -- and they smoke theirs for 20 hours -- here's what happens: * The visible fat cap mostly renders down. * The intramuscular fat melts. * Collagen breaks down into gelatin. * The melted fat soaks deep into the meat fibers. So by the time it hits your plate? You don't see fat. You taste rendered fat and gelatin inside the meat. For $14 all-you-can-eat lunch, I kept waiting for the catch. There isn't one. I probably ate close to a pound and a half of brisket myself and still wanted more. Tender, perfectly seasoned, smoky without being overpowering -- the kind of brisket that makes you stop mid-bite and just nod your head because you know you found something special. You walk out wondering how they're not charging double. Everything about this place reflects pride -- pride in the food, pride in the service, pride in the entire experience. It's consistent. It's clean. It's efficient. And that kind of consistency is rare. This is only my second five-star rating ever. That's how serious I am about it. I apologize for not getting a picture of the brisket, I got too carried away with eating it. I live in Corpus Christi, and honestly, that's probably a good thing. If I lived any closer, I'd be there every single day. If you want authentic, high-quality food served by people who genuinely care about what they're doing -- Butter Churn is it. Five stars. No hesitation.

We found the food to be acceptable, but very slow action out of the kitchen. My guess is they were shorthanded there, because many tables wee not occupied. Fortunately the bar must have been fully staffed, because the drinks came out post haste. Try the crab tower as appetizer, though it could serve as a light lunch too. The soft shell crab Po Boy was good, with two very large ones, but the sauce that came on the side left us wanting something different. We also had the Ahi salad and the fish taco. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, and fortunately grabbed some of the few places to wait sitting down.

We arrived around 8:00 p.m. and waited about 45 minutes to an hour just to be seated. Once we were finally seated, we ordered a dozen oysters, three waters, two cocktails, and mac and cheese for our daughter. The drinks finally came, but they were incredibly weak. The biggest disappointment was the mac and cheese--it tasted like plain boxed Kraft macaroni, which was shocking for a restaurant. We placed our dinner order and then waited another hour and 45 minutes without receiving any food. By this point, it was 10:30 p.m., and our daughter had already finished eating and was exhausted. Our waiter, Kalen, was actually very polite, energetic, and apologetic throughout the night. He kept checking in and apologizing for the kitchen delays, so I don't blame him, he could have had an upper hand- and gotten aggressive and made an impact on timing. Unfortunately, after waiting nearly 2 1/2 hours from the time we arrived, we still never received our meals. My husband had to go to the front twice to cancel our order because we finally gave up and left hungry. The waiter again was nice but he could have done more and the manager competed our water and our daughters Mac and cheese. When we walked out - she had the audacity to give us a sad face - maybe you should have thought about your feelings while trying to get our food. It was truly a disgusting and horrible experience. We understand restaurants get busy, but waiting that long without food or any meaningful communication is unacceptable. We won't be returning. Other tables were being sat after us and actually left while we were still waiting that had received their food and paid. Extremely disappointed and will NEVER GO BACK.

I had originally tried to come here for dinner the previous night and sort of glad I didn't bring my big group here as their prices are a little high with a big group and the wait was crazy long that night anyway. Entree prices range from 28-62 for most items, unless you order basic fried seafood or their pasta dish. I did grab some oysters while I was here. The bartender indicated they were farm-raised from Port Aransas and similar in size as east coast oysters, which I prefer over Gulf oysters. The oysters ended up being very good and clean, but they are definitely briny. The oysters are served with just cocktail and horseradish...nothing special. Their lemon is covered with a net to capture the seed, which is a common feature at nicer restaurants. They also open your Tabasco bottle for you. I enjoyed my cocktail, but it is something I have made at home, so it wasn't anything too special for me.
