Seafood restaurant right at the Fishermans wharf in Port Aransas. Service is really quick you line up and then order they give you a number then you pick a seat. There is also outdoor seating. The ambience feels like it's a beach themed/fishing restaurant. Highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner if it's your first time in Port Aransas or even if you visit frequently.

The shrimp bowl was very tasty! My husband had a shrimp and fish platter and said it was just okay. We liked getting our own drink refills. The building was very pretty.

It's not clean they brought out uncooked fish for everyone (my plate was the grilled) and also it's not as clean as you think! Don't visit, being honest

Came here late last night, yet they still served us! The shrimp skewers were delicious, and the chocolate cheesecake was amazing! Please try grumbles if you're in the area!

Location is stunning! We got lucky and ordered with no line but the place does get busy. Located in the wharf you can see boats docking and taking off.We ordered the fried seafood plate. Great variety but all of it was over cooked. It has potential the shrimp were large the fish was flakey but all of it overdone.

Pleasant atmosphere! Order at the front then your food will be delivered to your table. Enjoyed sitting outside! Nice to watch the sunset and boats go by while eating. It was good, but didn't truly impress us. Fries are pretty chewy? Fried crab cakes were alright, but pretty sure they were a frozen food item. Definitely didn't taste fresh! Shrimp was decent. Wasn't hot when it was served, so that factored in as well.

The service was good and the restaurant was very clean. Nice atmosphere. We sat outside by the fishing boats. The food was lacking, however. Of a party of six only one kid liked his chicken strips. The child's fish was absolutely disgusting. It was flat, thin, gray, and rubbery. Not even the adults could eat it. The mahi mahi BLT was tasteless. It looked great, but had no flavor other than bread. The french fries were disgusting. They tasted like they had been left over from days ago. They were rubbery, chewy and inedible.

My delicious peel and eat shrimp which was already deveined!!!

We came here after hearing that Virginias on the Bay (right next door) had an hour and half wait. Walked in to Grumbles and immediately walked to the ordering area. We found a nice table by the marina so we could watch the boats come in and out. Nice area right at sunset. I don't know what kind of magic they have going on but get this....NO FLIES or any other bugs were bothering us or other people that already had their food!! How's that possible?!!!! Anyway...back to the story. So we ordered and sat down. The wait for the food was a little long but 1) we came right at peak dining time, 2) there were others there before us, 3) it's the peak of vacation time right before school starts back up, 4) I'd rather be sitting down drinking my iced tea and waiting instead of sitting in front in the parking lot waiting...so we were ok with it and expected it. Some people (namely one lady) was not happy and complained constantly to any staff within ear shot and more so after their food arrived sending some items back and demanding they be taken off the bill. Geez, Karen much!!?? Our food arrived, it was presented nicely and after taking our first bite...we were hooked!! O. M. G!!!! I ordered the pound of Peel & Eat Shrimp which was already deveined for me!! Seasoned nicely...not too spicy although I'm not afraid of a little heat being from Texas. Husband ordered 9 piece fried shrimp with Cole slaw and he also was very impressed. And our son ordered Popcorn shrimp off of the kids menu. He recently started liking shrimp and he cleaned his plate saying it was the best he's had!! Hubby finished my shrimp since I couldn't finish the pound... which he was totally ok with. The only thing that was left on the plate was the Cole slaw. He doesn't like coleslaw and I was too full to try it. Overall we decided to stay another day in Port A and also decided to go to Grumbles also before we leave!! So tonite I'll be getting the One Pound Peel & Eat shrimp (hubby can finish what I don't eat) and the boys will get what they want. The only negative I have is: 1) that the table and chairs were a little bit sticky...we put down the brown paper towels (provided on the tabletop) down as basically place mats and on our chairs since we were wearing shorts and legs were slightly sticking to the chairs. But that's it!! 2) Maybe the Karen seated next to us but you get those people out there in the wild!! I totally would recommend Grumbles to anyone interested in some seafood and don't be afraid to sit outside...seriously...how were there no flies!!!???

Great food and service definitely worth going for the shrimp tacos and the ceviche was a bit plain but with a little lime and salt it was great!

The food is average, but the atmosphere is pretty neat. I went with a group at around 6pm on a Tuesday during the summer holiday season and though the restaurant was slammed the staff was taking care of the line at a pretty quick pace. The dining area and restrooms were pretty clean, just beware the sinks. They're super powerful and splashed up all over my shirt. I'd also recommend bringing a pair of sunglasses with you as the windows are large and let in the sun, and there's a high chance you won't necessarily get too much of a choice in where you sit with the dinner rush crowd and end up staring right into the glare like some of our party did. Our order came out a lot faster than we expected as there were seven of us and it was packed, my choice the Shrimp Burger with Fried Green Tomato. The Burger had plump and juicy shrimp that was seasoned pretty well, and though the breading on the tomatoes was good, they were pretty soggy. They were fine on the burger as it somewhat hid the sogginess but I pulled off the tomato topping the bun because it was just too much. One of our party members ordered a plate of the Fried Green Tomatoes alone and we both agreed that it felt like they'd sat out too long. The lettuce and buns on my Burger were crisp and soft respectively, but as a whole it was a little too oily for me. I was also able to try some of the Fried Oysters and wished I had ordered these instead. Unlike the breading on the Fried Green Tomatoes, these had an excellent crunch to them. The oysters themselves had a good chewiness and were excellent without the sauce it came with, but were just as delicious with said sauce. A lot of our meals came with a mountain of shoestring fries. No one made it through even half and it seemed a waste if you didn't take them as leftovers. They were alright but pretty average, at best described as addicting from the salt, but nothing more. They tasted best with the cocktail sauce or specialty sauces that came with the dishes. I might give Grumbles another try but I could also easily live without making the second trip. I've simply had better seafood on the coast but if you aren't in the mood for cooking like we were, it is indeed better than ordering a pizza or going through a fast food drive-thru.

The wait was fast and easy. The cashier was pleasant and helpful. The air conditioner was working and was very nice! The place has plenty of seats, some counter height and some taller. You can eat inside or out. The bar area was nice but small. The food was light and tasty....and plentiful! One plate could feed two people! The staff was working hard to serve and clean up for new patrons. Very nice place to eat! I highly recommend!

We came to Grumble's while on a short vacation in Port Aransas. We were looking for something casual with a waterfront scene and it turned out perfectly. You place your order at the counter and then sit yourself. The meal came pretty quick and it was great. I had the mahi BLT, which tasted delicious. It's fun to watch the boats come in during the meal too. Overall a great time.

Blackened Shrimp tacos; can't go wrong... and they are fresh shrimp from Gulf of America.

He was also very gracious in helping us when our food was a disappointment. I started with a cup of the lobster bisque and I am so glad that I did because it was DELICIOUS! I don't want to know how much butter went into the process, the perfect amount for maximum flavor for sure, so let's just go with that. Then we ordered the pear salad and shrimp and scallops. This is where it took a turn. The portion on the salad was not shareable, not even a full dinner portion for one. The presentation of the shrimp and scallops was lovely, but the shrimp and scallops themselves had ZERO seasoning or flavor. Not cooked with butter, not even salt or pepper. The only flavor came from the ginger carrot coulis which was nice but very gingery. The risotto was cold. Very cold. The only redeemer on the plate was the sautéed kale which had a lovely flavor and was nice and warm. I ultimately sent the main back and got a bowl of the bisque, which again-was a delight. Big hunks of lobster meat and creamy. Would go back for drinks and the bisque, but would not waste time on entrees.

What we didn't think about was it being a weekday and closing times, we just goofed! So anyway once we realized the restaurant closed at 8:00pm according to Google we got a little worried, being that I work in a restaurant I know how overwhelming it can be to see customers coming in less than an hour until close, fortunately my hubs double checked here on Yelp and then their website and found the closing time was 8:30pm, so we hopped in the car and got there as soon as we could, and we were relieved to see a few people still eating, and another arriving just after we pulled in. There was a little curfuffle once we were sat, the hostess initially offered us a table with bench seating, but one of us isn't able to sit on a bench due to disability, she kindly offered us a table with chairs, in what appeared to be a different servers section, we were close to the TV on the same wall as the front counter, anyway, after sitting a few minutes Johnathan greeted us and took our drink orders to get us started. The ambiance is so relaxed, there was trivia on a couple of the TV's good music, and lots of cool merch to buy, some of the shirts really made me laugh. We quickly made our selections, hubs got the one meat and two sides and opted for the pork ribs, they were cooked to perfection, and he was delighted considering that we were there the last hour of the day, he really enjoyed his meal, I too opted for the one meat and two sides, selecting the regular sausage, and it was delicious. The highlight was Johnathan, he was friendly, made recommendations, and offered dessert, which we couldn't resist, deciding on the German Chocolate cake, with a side of ice cream. We had to take that to go, we couldn't eat another bite. They have two choices for BBQ sauce, hubs got spicy, and I got regular, and I am glad cuz I'm a yellow bellied tender foot, I tasted the spicy and it IS spicy so for all of you that enjoy the heat, I think you will like their, tomato forward sauce. I usually like to dip each bite of my sausage in BBQ sauce, this particular flavor was just different, I think I will have to try it again, it wasn't typical Texas-esque smoky BBQ sauce, more like ketchup as the base and then flavors and spices added to make it their own, we did find it slightly odd that BBQ sauce doesn't automatically come with the meals, we had to ask for it, but one of the things I REALLY like about MacDaddy's layout is it's a TRUE sit down restaurant with servers vs going thru a cafeteria style line to get our food, ironically as we drove down and talked about wanting to find a BBQ spot, and in that conversation I mentioned that I'd love to find one that's not self serve, being that one of us is disabled it can add a lot of extra work for the other, we come down twice a year if possible and have been doing so for at least 10 years, and had never found a dedicated BBQ place, we have now, the food was good, the service was friendly and the vibe was casual and relaxing, we will definitely be back!

We ended up having the honey crab and king crab. I'd never had honey crab before and thought it was OK, my wife really enjoyed it. Not quite as sweet as our king crab (which was out of this world) and the texture was closer to Dungeness crab. Pros-the crab was delicious and the portions were spot on. The shrimp were the biggest I've ever seen and the homemade cocktail sauce was zesty and delicious. The limited bar top was intimate. We really enjoyed our server/bartender. The hot wet towel at the end was lovely. And the butter was very unique! Garlicy and mushroomy, very umami-very amazing! Cons-you really only have an hour to order, have your food prepared, and finish eating. We felt very rushed considering we had to crack everything before we ate it. We got lucky and were able to stay a bit longer before the next group came in, but we didn't have time for dessert and that was disappointing. The froze was not worth it, we didn't have time to drink it and it tasted like a frozen limeade more than a froze. The entrees don't come with sides. Not that we would have had time to eat them, but it would have been nice for the price point. $60 and $100 per crab entree a pound each.

It's the off-season, so it wasn't crowded, which made the whole visit extra relaxing. Our waitress was pleasant, and the place is decorated with all kinds of ocean themed art by local artists. I'm pretty sure some of it is even for sale. The restaurant is always nice and clean. They had Christmas music playing and a few decorations out, giving it a festive touch. Now for the food: I ordered the daily special, chicken alfredo with garlic bread. It came with spaghetti noodles and was fine, though it could have used a bit more seasoning. After adding some salt and pepper, it hit the spot. The garlic bread was my favorite part. The hubby went with his usual, the Casta Burger with fries, and as always, it was tasty. A couple of side notes: they offer WIFI for guests, but it hasn't worked in a while and no one seems eager to fix it. And while they have beer on tap, which is normally a plus, tonight it was served flat, which has never happened before. Overall, this spot is usually 4 stars for us, but tonight's visit landed closer to an unusual 3. I know they care and most days everything runs smoothly, so I'm still giving them a 4.

Ham or turkey, cornbread dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, creamy corn, green bean casserole, candied yams, homemade cranberry sauce, and a roll for $21.00. Sounded great, so we made our reservation for 3:00pm. We arrived at the restaurant just before 3:00pm and were immediately informed they were out of turkey, so ham only. Ok, no problem. However, when our "plate" was delivered, there was no green bean casserole, no candied yams, no cranberry sauce and no roll. We instead had "canned corn", plain mashed potatoes, dressing, ham and a piece of buttered white bread. WHAT???? When we asked about the "missing" items from our plate, we were told oh, we already ran out, but we are discounting the price. We went ahead and ate the mediocre food and paid our "discounted" bill - they took off $6.00 per plate - WOW. This meal was a complete disappointment and had we been informed they were out of almost everything, we would have opted not to eat. If they were only taking reservations, they knew EXACTLY how many people they would be serving, so extremely poor planning on their part for running out food. Based on this one experience, I do NOT recommend this restaurant and will not be eating there on any of our future Port A trips.
