Kody's was a place we researched before coming to Port Aransas. We stayed close by and couldn't wait to give the place a try. What a disappointment! We walked in and had to wait for the bartender/waitress to the explain her family members eye surgery to the locals at the bar before she was able to acknowledge four customers walking in to spend money. Food was mediocre at best and the establishment was smoky and ran down. The vibe we got was locals who smoked cigarettes at the bar were far more important than tourists who would probably never return. People spend your money elsewhere! read more

If you're in the area and you're looking for a chill type place to watch some sports and have some drinks, this place does just that. The food is not the main attraction but overall it was not terrible food wise. Bartender/hostess was friendly. Overall not a bad place. read more

After a few minutes of waiting for service I finally asked if anyone would help us and the bartender finally said something about ordering at the bar. A local suggested this place. He said the food was very good. Ok. Here's the deal. You order at the bar, which by the way this is. The seafood platter is $25. I thought that seemed a little on the cheap side for two fish fillets. 4 shrimp and some fried oysters, fries and slaw. Well you get what you pay for. I'm sure they had at one time fresh grease. All I could taste was old grease and chewy fried shrimp. The fish is way over battered and once again the old grease is overpowering. The coleslaw was straight out of Sysco carton. We came to this place reading that it was family friendly. Once you walk in you get a big breath of smoke that smacks you in the face. We sat outside and the food was delivered... the cheeseburger was great but the garlic fried fish special was much different than the pictures that was posted. It was thick and in two big chunks not worth the price in my opinion. We brought our kids to play mini golf afterwards. On and around the holes we found trash consisting of old beer bottles and beer cans (that have been there for quite a while), old to go boxes, kids socks that were laying around the back nine, a fork, and a bunch of cigarette butts on the ground. The holes have been neglected and need a lot of work. The last hole had a wire cage over it which was broken/cut up which poses a hazard especially to kids. I'd be confident to say this place is not family friendly but the burger is good. read more

A dive bar trying to pass for a restaurant. We stood at the front counter waiting to order for about 10 minutes behind a group of guys that had been drinking and then ordered double Bacardis and double vodkas. There's only 1 person working the bar and the register. The kitchen was way behind. The order from the 6 guys in front of us was the only order in front of us. (There were only 3 tables with people) The kitchen manager went back and forth to the office several times and then mostly stood around looking confused. The kitchen couldn't manage to keep track of more than one table's order at a time. So we waited 30 minutes for 4 pieces of overcooked fried shrimp. The fried green tomatoes were crisp. The house salad at $3.99 came with house-made dressings. The grilled grouper was perfectly seasoned and very fresh. Mild fish taste let you know that it hasn't been sitting around in the refrigerator for days. First time here for prime rib. We have come before for drinks and their prices are good although the vodka sodas are pretty weak. So...the prime rib was super fatty and on the verge of too cold to eat. The salad was okay but the twice baked half a potato was under cooked and the area near the skin was still hard. Wish I could delete all my original negative reviews of Kodys because they've done a complete 180 IMO. Most important, they've eliminated what used to be real bad cigarette smoke smell. Their evening menu is excellent especially the grilled tuna. I asked that it be cooked between rare and medium rare and it was perfect. We drove in late from San Antonio and everything was closed. Kody's was open and the young girl in the front was very nice. I ordered the Diablo Pasta, which came with grilled shrimp. I am a super picky eater and the lady let me sub the shrimp for grilled chicken. My meal was delicious! My brother ordered a burger and also the seafood platter. Everything was so good! Terrible service here. I walked in and was not greeted. The lady behind the bar area finally acknowledges me just to tell me I need a mask or to get out. Atleast greet your customer and say hello. I will spend my money elsewhere. I don't like being snapped at immediately and won't return to this unprofessional type behavior.
