    Half and half

Small place at the end of small strip business center. All the plates are served on paper and drinks are served in to go styrofoam. Here's what struck me as odd. The lunch "specials" are the same price as the regular priced menu items. So. This is one of three other sister stores and it's basically the exact same set up as what you would expect. The prices are all about what you would expect to see. First up. Half and half. Fried basket of shrimp and the $1 up charge flounder. $15. The shrimp were rubbery and the flounder was just odd. The flavoring wasn't there and at $15 I expected something more and better. The boils looked good and folks seemed to enjoy them but I don't feel that a $40 lunch is doable. I'll try the other locations because several of my friends have raved about this franchise. The service was good.

We were a party of 15 Guests and were there for a gathering of monthly Birthday celebrations of four Corpus Christi area Friends! We were greeted with a smile and seated promptly as an area was reserved for our party of 15. Our Waitress was "Ashley"! She was Very nice, smiled often, was very patient and extremely efficient in wrangling everyone's order. Ashley had a great attitude and was super in every aspect of her job and with everything she did. As with anything in life, her ability to effectively communicate with her Customers was Stellar. She had minor assistance from other servers and for the most part she handled our party by herself and continued to provide service to other large parties in the same room. WOW! She took our orders in a calm and effective manner and remembered all the tiny details that any table could impose on "Wait" Staff. Her poise, superb ability to communicate effectively and a Wonderful attitude made our stay a memorable one. Mistakes NONE! Complaints; some steaks had gristle on them. Really! That was a very minor issue and all agreed that it did not curb our appetite or spoil our celebration. The food was good to very good and accompanying condiments for everyone came in a quick and timely manner. Our party highly recommends this Restaurant and we keep coming back! As for Ashley, She is a KEEPER! PS: Our table gave her a round of Applause for her dynamic Customer service! However, the food here more than exceeded the highest of expectations. We visited with the lunch menu, started with the Blue Crab Tostadas, she ordered the French Dip, I ordered the Lamb Burger. Every bite was enjoyable. We will be back. We arrived at about 2:30 and they were just about to close the kitchen to regroup for dinner. People that came after us had to wait about an hour before the kitchen was back up. Plan accordingly. If there is one minor thing to wish were different, because it is so close to the water, every surface is sticky. It's to be expected with the humidity, but it was noticeable.

Now for the food review: 1. The oysters were amazing. 2. The Yellow Curry Shrimp with the plantains was our favorite dish. 3. The short ribs were a let down. The meat was really soft but it was so dry. We couldn't even finish it. (We wished we would have just both ordered th yellow curry shrimp) 4. The truffle fries were good but get the 1/2 order if your 2 because the serving size is a lot. 5. Banana Bread Pudding was the best thing. We kind of wish the serving size of the ice cream was a little more because the bread pudding was a large serving. It was the star of the show. We would be back just for this bread pudding so please don't ever take it off the menu.

Friends and co workers raved about it and it gave me high expectations. Before I start I'll say first that this was my first experience here and maybe I shouldn't have sat at the bar. Nonetheless here is what I thought Elijah was our bartender and he did his job. Attentive to the bar patrons and the people sitting on the tables around the bar area. It was only him so I give him kudos for doing a great job! Now the food... We ordered their CAB NACHOS, RIBEYE CHICHARRÓN and a side of fries. The nachos were basic. Nothing too special about them. Looked more like triangle chalupas but the guacamole and pico were fresh and tasty. Nice portion and good taste. Again nothing special but I can see why the bartender said it was his favorite. You can't go wrong with that item. Fries, to me not really fries more like bulky curly fries. Needed salt but that's a plus cause at times places add too much. Now that item I was excited for... And it was a downer. When you call something "chicharrón" you must make sure that it's fried well and that it's crispy. The Ribeye Chicharrón was more like ribeye steak chunks instead. Nothing about it defined crunch at all! The presentation was cool though as it came in a jar sort of speak and they let them fall like a tower. Just fell short of my expectations based on the item name and description. Again, their pico and guacamole were delicious! My favorite was the pico! Really fresh. I will need to come back and try their other items but their first impression to me was mid. Again, my opinion and my experience. Godspeed everyone!!
