I had called 30 mins prior but they do not do reservations but I gave them my info over the phone anyway. Upon arrival, I did get seated rather quickly with my group of 8, but that's not why I took off 2 stars. This would have been a 3.5 star restaurant because the food was good when it finally came out, but the key word is finally. Once we ordered, it took about 1 hour for the food to even come out. For a small breakfast restaurant this is just ridiculous. We saw 2-3 other tables that arrived after us that received their food. It tells me they either only have 1 person in the kitchen, or they're not prepared for a Sunday crowd. Either way, they're were not prepared. Our group ordered both lunch and breakfast items but based on the foods that were coming from the kitchen, they chose to only cook the breakfast items and bring those to other tables. I chose the chicken fried steak since the menu indicated it was hand-breaded. I picked Texas toast as my bread, and green beans and mashed potatoes as my sides, expecting them to be basically canned and powdered potatoes. The sides ended up being fresh green beans cooked well done with caramelized onions which were very flavorful. The potatoes were homemade as well with cream gravy, but needed some additional seasoning. The rest of my group loved their food too, as all 7 other plates were cleaned with no food left. Just when we thought we were in the clear it was time to pay. Well, that didn't go all that well either. Our waitress was busy bringing orders out and catering to another newly seated table and going back and forth to the kitchen getting them anything and everything to go along with their meal, meanwhile we had our check ready and she bypassed our table 2-3 times and didn't look our way. I didn't want to be rude since she was nice, but she was in over her head and beyond busy apparently. Three stars is being nice here, but we did like the food....so that's their saving grace.

The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, other diners are friendly and you don't feel rushed, although they get packed, for good reason. The servers and bartenders work hard to make your dining experience special, and do a great job at remembering their customers and their needs. It's a large, varied menu with lots of delicious and some unique items. Kudos to Chef Ben for his consistency, attention to special requests and for being a nice guy. The lovely Victoria does an incredible job managing this busy spot and hiring great staff. And, live music on weekends. This time I had the garlic shrimp, which was exceptional with a huge side of crispy, light , non greasy pub chips...yum. They are usually dusted with cheese, but mine were not due to an allergy. Dylan had the Prime Rib Sandwich, with fries, that he inhaled. A lovely couple next to us, who are regulars, Cathy and her husband (apologies), were so friendly and enjoyed their Million Dollar BLT and fries Kailey was our super attentive and pleasant server, and got to see the two best bartenders in the area, Felicia and Britt. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this visit. We were seated for 30+ minutes and no one even handed us a menu, much less offered us water or a glass of wine. I understand holiday weekends are busy and places can be short staffed, but when you know you're going to be slammed, employees should be prepared to handle it professionally instead of taking their frustration out on paying customers. I don't need to hear about staffing issues -- I just needed basic service. Sadly, this experience was enough that I won't be coming back.

That will prevent me from probably going back whenever I'm in town. I would think that most of the population nowadays is non-smoking so I would not allow smoking at the bar where most people wanna sit, but maybe outside on the lower level where the grass area is. Put some tables and what not out there. The wings I had the second night were not cooked through. This really could be a great location with the smoking I think is gonna kill most of the business that would go there. Just my feedback.

First, to be honest, although I try not to eat bacon, I do love it. And at Poor Man's there is so much bacon that my dog is so excited when it's delivered because she just knows she's getting hers. Its perfectly constructed with just the exact amount of lettuce, tomato, mayo and excess bacon on toasted garlic bread. Served with fries that can be delicious or overly spiced; I guess the chefs mood. My only complaint is their hours, which is why I usually get it delivered.
