I love Tapas, and especially when a large table gets into sharing mode and orders together. However, I'm sure we sacrificed a table with a view since large tables don't usually occupy prime real estate. We were lucky to get the last serving of their evening special, Paella, which was among the best versions of this dish I have eaten, even including the first time I tried it in Barcelona back in 1959 as a college student. The portion was generous enough to satiate the five of us that shared it. With that, we added Corn Ribs, the Tuna Tostada, Patatas Bravas, and Crab Crostini. That was the perfect quantity for five. This is a five star restaurant in every regard, except perhaps for ambiance. The food was uniformly excellent and some of it was exceptional. The Tuna Tostada left me longing for more, and there was a generous amount of crab on the Crostini. The Corn Ribs brought corn-on-the-cobb to a new level. The one disappointment was that the salmon in the salad came out medium rare, which in my opinion is the way is should be served, but the menu probably should have warned that it would be prepared that way. This was cheerfully and quickly fixed, so no harm and no foul. We will surely return. read more

First time here but def not our last, in fact just made our second reservation! We had heard wonderful things about this place and they were not wrong. We reserved early for NYE because we are old, lol, and so glad we landed on Gabriela's. We started out with the Pina Colada Azul's and they were amazing. For eats we had the corn ribs, the Ahi tuna tostada, and the Queso de Cabra. All were soooo good. I don't even do tuna and had two bites because they were so good. I'm a huge fan of the corn ribs and the goat cheese though. We finished with the calamari which was just as good as everything else had been. Light breading, not oily at all and plated with plenty of lemons and a very tasty sauce. I would recommend everything we had. We finished with the bread pudding and the chocolate torte! Again both were amazing, and I don't like even like bread pudding but this one was amazing. The pistachios put it over the top for me. So it was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to be back. Hands down our favorite restaurant in Rockport! We travel down from Austin a couple of times a year and have dined at most of the eateries in town and Gabriela's always rises to the top and never disappoints! My wife and I prefer the upstairs bar area with a view of the bay and boats with a nice cross breeze to cool you down. I consider their shrimp tacos to be among the finest I've ever eaten but everything we've sampled is top shelf. Portions are on the smaller size (Tapas) so consider getting a couple if you're really hungry. Friendly staff, fresh food and an inventive menu. The food was wonderful. It is cooked fresh and immediately served. We had shrimp tacos, crab crostini shrimp and corn chowder and scallops à la plancha with sopapilla cheesecake for dessert. Each of these were extremely mouth watering and delicious. If you want to sit with a view of the water I would recommend making a reservation. I wanted the octopus ceviche but they only offer during HH and on certain days I was told. Ordered shrimp ceviche and a crab crostini appetizer and glass of wine. Total was 53.00 for one person. Not sure why the ceviche had a 1.00 up charge but prob because I had the shrimp. Half of the ceviche was the cucumber and mango and onions. It was dry and could have used more lime/lemon juice. Michelin quality, food, and service! This was our first time and it was so outstanding that we went back the next night! I'm attaching the receipt so that you know the price points and what to expect but trust me, it's worth every penny! We were greeted and seated immediately. Everyone working there was top quality. The chef came out to see how we were doing and prepared outstanding food, quality, and flavor! We did not order any cocktails, but did enjoy many different dishes. What a beautiful place! The view is pretty darn amazing! The restaurant itself is very nice, very modern. We were in rough shape, tired from long travels and spread over many days and weeks and days that went way longer than they should have. Today in particular shouldn't have been too bad but, only a 4 1/2 hour drive but then we waited for hours out in the sun before our work day was finished. I tell you all this to set the stage, we were pooped and not happy campers to say the least! We wanted a simple dinner but I decided to somewhat treat the wife to what would hopefully be a little nicer dinner. I saw Gabriela's on here and, being my wife is from Spain and being it is so well rated, I knew it was meant to be. Going over the menu, though not very large, it was difficult to choose. My kid had the crab tostinis, my wife the tostada and ceviche (mixed), I had the steak and wedge. We shared the patatas bravas. Everything was sublime. It isn't often you find a place and order a handful of dishes and find everyone to be perfect. This was such an occasion. The food was amazing. Other than adding salt to my steak, I would change nothing. I have to give special mention for the tostada though. While each dish was superb, this thing blew my taste mind! I want to order this thing everyday! The only reason for 4 stars. The service was lacking. Our server was nice and personable. But she was not attentive. I ran out of tea and wasn't even asked if I wanted more. We had to ask for salt as we weren't ever checked on to see if we needed anything after the food cane. I had to get up and go ask for our check. But considering how we felt, the fact that this is our only complaint? Kudos to the owner and management of this place. Went here for our anniversary. They sat us at a two seater table even though almost the whole top floor was empty. Everyone seated after us was a couple and got four seaters or bigger. Ordered the Spanish sausage, soup of the day, strawberry grouper bites, corn ribs, and paella. The paella was good but the rice was hard and some of the seafood was overcooked and rubbery. The gumbo was not very gumbo at all. Very tomato-y and definitely missing a good roux base. The corn ribs were the best item there. Asked the waitress what the honey whipped ricotta was and she clicked on the item to see if there are any descriptions about it. It was accidentally sent to the kitchen. The manager came by with it and when we said we did not order it, she gave it to the table next to us. The waitress assured us 3x that they removed it from our tab. We visit my parents once or twice while they snowbird in Rockport, and we were looking for a new experience and place to eat and found Gabriela's. What a treat! We ordered several things to share (it is a tapas restaurant), and we didn't have any bad bites! Chili shrimp is 10/10 and I could have this for a meal. The tacos are filled with plenty of fish (shrimp or mahi) and they are hearty. The corn ribs have an excellent flavor though they are a little challenging to eat. It was worth how messy they are, though. The patatas bravas are excellent and I noticed some reviews that said they wanted the aioli but since this isn't Spanish tapas, I didn't except it and they were still delicious. The serving is a good size for sharing too. The croquettes bacaloao are made with cod and not the salt cured kind that you get in Spain so they are tasty. The albóndigas are a treat and a nice size for sharing. The wine list is limited and we couldn't order a bottle (at least we didn't see this option on the menu) and the Paloma's are excellent! For dessert we all shared both the Pie de Limon and the chocolate almond torte. Both were delicious and the key lime was exceptional. The service is great with efficient and friendly staff (my only suggestion is that we didn't get the specials given to us and we forgot to ask and the special was a seafood lasagne that looked amazing!). It is a small and tastefully decorated restaurant and I'm sure they will keep getting better and better. What a treat for this town! read more

It's a really decent restaurant and I highly recommend it if I can if you love seafood or very adventurous with your palette. (BTW it might not be for everyone), I've went there at night which gives it a very interesting experience including the upstairs area it was pretty fancy. (A little expensive but get hey it was worth it LOL) It had really good service and the people that served us were really nice and I've got the tortilla chips and got the Mahi Mahi tacos which were amazing! They don't carry Patron tequila (for my margarita). Smallest margarita I have ever seen. Served in a SMALL margarita glass and charge $21. Small like maybe 4 ounces...maybe. We ordered chips and salsa/guacamole $12). Barely any salsa so we asked for more chips and salsa. Tacked on another $7. Very disappointed!!! Will never be back! He tried to order the chef steak and mashed potatoes again, they were out of the steak! Wasn't a good night for his order. The highlights: the tuna tostada, and the lobster salpicon. Great spot for a nice dinner with unique food options unlike any other in Rockport! The servers at the bar were happy to answer any questions and offer recommendations. There is a great upstairs part with views of the bay if you can request that. We sat at the bar in the back, so not as good of views, but still great service! We had the tuna tostada, fish and shrimp tacos, corn ribs, and the short rib special they have on Friday night! All of it was incredible and very flavorful.
