Where to start with this review? Probably with Natalie, the excellent server who greeted me with instant warmth--just like the hostess. I didn't have a reservation and was just hoping to grab a table or even sit at the bar, and the staff could not have been kinder. The food? Even better. I started with their signature spicy pineapple margarita--absolutely incredible. Then came the tuna tostada and patatas bravas!! So beautiful and delicious - followed by the best ultimate bread pudding and ice cream to go! I'm still dreaming about that dinner! I lived in Spain - these are exquisite tapas! Gabriela's Seafood and Tapas is a stunning spot whether you're on a romantic date, celebrating something special, or just craving the most delicious food in Rockport. Thank you for having me--I can't wait to come back!

Octopus! Normally not a fan but this was so tender and delicious.

What an awesome place! Service is good but the food is fantastic. Second time here and still trying new things. Do not miss this if you visit Rockport.

Best meal we've ever had in this town. Great ambiance, and our dog loved the upstairs porch!

The lovely, albeit windy, view. In the spring, bring a jacket and hair band.

We chose the upstairs for the view, and enjoyed a cocktail and the shrimp and fish tacos along with the ceviche. Both were okay. The ceviche lacked lime juice, and the chips lacked salt. The tacos were very good. Our server, Ryan, was top notch!!

Love the ambiance. You can sit outside on the 2nd floor balcony or inside on the first floor. There are different menus and today they had a brunch menu but you can still order from regular menu. I wanted the octopus ceviche but they only offer during HH and on certain days I was told. Ordered shrimp ceviche and a crab crostini appetizer and glass of wine. Total was 53.00 for one person. Not sure why the ceviche had a 1.00 up charge but prob because I had the shrimp. Half of the ceviche was the cucumber and mango and onions. It was dry and could have used more lime/lemon juice. The crab crostini was delicious except the crostini was not toasted nor crunchy. The crab was plentiful and worth the 28.00 for the appetizer. However,The bread used was somewhat soggy and could barely hold up the crab. I may come back to give another try during HH

Michelin quality, food, and service! This was our first time and it was so outstanding that we went back the next night! I'm attaching the receipt so that you know the price points and what to expect but trust me, it's worth every penny! We were greeted and seated immediately. Everyone working there was top quality. The chef came out to see how we were doing and prepared outstanding food, quality, and flavor! We did not order any cocktails, but did enjoy many different dishes. I realized after afterwards that on some of them, we were so excited to dig in that I didn't take a picture, oops. Expect seasonal changes to Menus. I assure you when we come back to Rockport this will be our first destination for dinner. I only wish that they had locations across all of Texas.

Went here for our anniversary. They sat us at a two seater table even though almost the whole top floor was empty. Everyone seated after us was a couple and got four seaters or bigger. Ordered the Spanish sausage, soup of the day, strawberry grouper bites, corn ribs, and paella. The paella was good but the rice was hard and some of the seafood was overcooked and rubbery. The gumbo was not very gumbo at all. Very tomato-y and definitely missing a good roux base. The corn ribs were the best item there. Asked the waitress what the honey whipped ricotta was and she clicked on the item to see if there are any descriptions about it. It was accidentally sent to the kitchen. The manager came by with it and when we said we did not order it, she gave it to the table next to us. The waitress assured us 3x that they removed it from our tab. Got my receipt through the Toast app and it was not removed. Overall disappointing experience.

We only stopped in for coffee and a dessert but WOWZERS!! Quick, attentive service paired with a beautiful, beach-y interior creates an unbeatable combo. The sopapilla cheesecake is singularly one of the best desserts I've ever had

10/10!!! If you eat anywhere in Rockport, you must come here. Absolutely delicious, the cutest restaurant ever, extremely fast service!! We didn't wait at all to be seated, order, or get our food.

We started with the grapefruit, avocado and arugula salad with feta--fresh, bright and absolutely delicious. Then came the smoked snapper dip, followed by the drunken clams with Akaushi sausage. OMG. The clams were served in an incredible white wine, garlic, smoky, savory broth with crusty bread to soak up every last drop. There was absolutely no leaving that broth behind. Then came the branzino. Flame-grilled with fire-roasted red pepper and garnished with Italian chimichurri. Absolutely phenomenal. Beautifully prepared, full of flavor and one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. In fact, about halfway through dinner, the table next to us interrupted to ask what we had ordered because everything looked so good--and, apparently, our very obvious food orgasm while eating caught their attention. The service was amazing. (Holden was great) The bartenders and servers were attentive throughout the evening, the drinks were great, and the wine was good. I would love to see the wine list expanded a bit with more options, but that is truly a minor suggestion compared with the overall experience. And then there's the atmosphere. Wonderful. Sitting right on the water overlooking the bay while enjoying an incredible meal made the entire experience even better. This is what dining out should be: incredible food, thoughtful flavors, attentive service, great drinks and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. I will be dreaming about this meal--and probably drooling while doing so. Truly, one of the best meals I've ever had. Five stars doesn't feel like enough. We will absolutely be back.

Now for the food review: 1. The oysters were amazing. 2. The Yellow Curry Shrimp with the plantains was our favorite dish. 3. The short ribs were a let down. The meat was really soft but it was so dry. We couldn't even finish it. (We wished we would have just both ordered th yellow curry shrimp) 4. The truffle fries were good but get the 1/2 order if your 2 because the serving size is a lot. 5. Banana Bread Pudding was the best thing. We kind of wish the serving size of the ice cream was a little more because the bread pudding was a large serving. It was the star of the show. We would be back just for this bread pudding so please don't ever take it off the menu.

A versatile menu, the majority of which is seafood, as we're in Rockport, but look out for the PERFECT Ribeye. Cooked exactly as ordered, beautifully seasoned, and one of the most tender and flavorful Ribeye steaks, ever. It includes 3 very tasty, grilled shrimp, and two sides. I had the hottest baked potato ever, yum, and delicious green beans. Dylan enjoyed his steak enourmously, with creamed corn and a loaded baked potato. Although we arrived starving, we could both only eat half. No problem, lunch the next day and Bizou was thrilled. Thank you Stephanie! Also, for Rockport, they're open late (9 pm). But they still kindly greeted people at 8:45. Be kind folks, and show as they're shutting everything down!

While the menu is pleasantly diverse, the food left something to be desired (e.g. overbreaded & overcooked coconut shrimp). The kids menu is 100% deep fried. I don't mind the strip mall location (some of the most amazing restaurants reside there) or the tacky decor (i.e. a poster of an open window on the wall). However, I just wasn't impressed by the food. My main dish -- the coconut shrimp -- was very heavily breaded. The shrimp lost its succulent texture and became one with the breading. Sort of like a mushy organism. Some of the best coconut shrimp I've had has always been lightly breaded -- where the shrimp still retains its pop and is complemented by the batter, not smothered by it. The sides didn't impress either. The cabbage was okay but the creamed corn was a fail altogether. The cream was super liquid-y and sank to the bottom while the flavorless corn sat on top. Unlike the shrimp which united with the breading, the corn seceded from the cream. The alligator was probably the best part. It was pretty heavily breaded but since the tough texture of gator works best when concealed (unlike shrimp), it worked well. The kids' menu was pretty disappointing. It was on brand (fried shrimp, fried fish, chicken strips -- all served with fries). However, I was really hoping to find at least one option that wasn't battered and deep fried. Even just a grilled cheese or a hamburger. The shrimp and the chicken tasted pretty good but once again, heavily breaded. Oh, I must give credit where it is due -- the fries were actually really good! Service was mostly great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She did forget an extra side that we ordered but we had plenty of food so it wasn't a big deal.

There wasn't a single vegan‑friendly option--no balsamic, no simple oil‑and‑vinegar--so that part definitely missed the mark. They also charge full price for the all‑you‑can‑eat salad bar even if you only want one plate. I thought that was a bit silly, but rules are rules. I also tried their blue mimosa, which was new on the menu. It didn't taste any different from a regular mimosa, so I'm pretty sure it was just champagne with blue curaçao for color. Fun to look at, but nothing special flavor‑wise. On the positive side, everyone in my group who ordered seafood was thrilled. My friend's coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly--crispy, not greasy, and with just the right amount of coconut so it wasn't overwhelming. Several people at our table ordered the crab cakes, and they all raved about how good they were. Overall, the seafood seems to be the star here, but the salad bar and drink execution could use some attention.

Until a few years ago, entrees came with your choice of soup or salad bar. Now, you must chose between soup and gumbo and if you want a salad bar, it will cost you an addition $5.99. I would be surprised if the salad bar plate is larger than 5" in diameter. The salad bar was one of the main attractions. Tonight, the dressing was warm, the croutons were stale, and salad-bar staples like boiled egg and cheese are now noticeably absent. Garnish on my fried shrimp plate was a laughable sliver of wilted green-leaf lettuce and a lime wedge so small it only lasted for 2 shrimp. I looked through the reviews to see if I was the only regular who felt this way; unfortunately, I am not.

Disgusting Kitchen Standards & An Absolute Joke of a "Discount"…read moreLet me start by saying our waitress was awesome. She was attentive, polite, and this 1-star review has absolutely nothing to do with her. This is entirely on management and the kitchen staff. We came in as a party of four and ordered appetizers. As soon as they hit the table, we pulled out two long hairs--one in each appetizer--right in front of our waitress. She was visibly startled and asked what she could do. Trying to be understanding guests, we told her not to worry, and she apologized and said she'd speak to the Back of House. When the main courses arrived, the food was okay, though it seriously lacked flavor and desperately needed salt. But the real insult came when the bill arrived. Since we had actual hair served in our food, we politely asked our waitress if a discount could be applied. She apologized, mentioned she hadn't been sure how to handle it initially, and went to speak to the manager. After a long wait, she came back with a "discounted" bill. The original total was $179 and change. The manager's grand gesture of a discount brought it down to $173 and change. But here is the absolute kicker: because we paid with a card, they tacked on debit card fees that brought the final total right back up to $179. Where the hell is the actual discount? In this day and age, almost no one carries cash. Sneaking in extra card fees to completely wipe out a "complimentary" discount for serving us hair is cheap, manipulative, and terrible business. If you're going to charge card fees, embed them in the food prices like a reputable establishment. Between whoever is cooking in the back without a hairnet and a management team that thinks a net-zero "discount" fixes serving unsanitary food, we will absolutely never be back. Step up your hygiene and your management standards.
