Yes I am well aware of the other work that was completed and I am happy to pay the labor charges for work well done by a professional plumber. I am happy with the labor. The problem I have with this bill is the cost of the water heater that is listed. It is more than double the amount of what the actual cost of the same exact make and model water heater is (without a contractor's discount). Professional plumber know what water heaters cost and a professional should not charge customers more than double that amount as an "upcharge". I am happy to pay for work well done. I am not at all happy to pay double the cost materials. read more

We had an overwhelming gas smell and gas company turned off our gas like they should have on a Saturday and recommended to call an hvac company which we called and they were so overwhelmed with air conditioning he suggested a plumber and Ridings Plumbing. I called and left a voicemail that day as they were closed and they got back to me at 7:35 that Monday morning and were out by noon ! And waited for Ameren to come and turn the gas back on ! I am so impressed with their promptness in returning my call and coming out that day ! They couldn't have been nicer to the woman who called me back to the plumber that came out ! We were looking for a gas line to be installed from our meter to the pool deck heater and this company was very easy to communicate with and they were very flexible from the beginning. Had a plumbing emergency, they took my number and said they would call me right back. 30 minutes later, I had to call them to see if they had the time to help or even call me back. This was a plumbing EMERGENCY! Just for them to tell me they wouldn't have time for me today. TRULY OUTSTANDING !!!! Had a sewer line totally blocked in my basement. Initially called the MW guys and was informed that I would probably need a whole line replacement costing $6413. Thank goodness I found this company (recommended by the city). Brian & Jon showed up promptly same day in (2) well stocked trucks ready to TV, hydrojet, snake machine, etc. These gentlemen never gave up even though my 1959 house had extremely difficult cast iron pipe with a PITA p-trap located in the wall. They spent the better part of the afternoon getting it unblocked and flowing better than ever for $435. Could not be happier !!!!! Shawn (hope I spelled that right), and the very nice office lady were also extremely helpful with the initial consultation as well. We had them out to give us a quote on a project and they never got back to us with a price. We called 3 different times over the course of a month asking why we hadn't gotten it and each time they said they would get it to us asap. It has been 3 months now and still no quote. Obviously we chose a different company and will never recommend ridings again. Additionally, when they came out to my house to take information for the estimate I asked if they used the existing copper piping or got new for the job. They said they use new piping. Ok, so I asked what they do with the old piping they are removing because I was planning on selling it for scrap since it is worth a decent amount of money. They said they would have to take it and dispose of it. Ok, fine. So would I get a discount off of the total? The guy told me no they don't do that. I asked why. He literally said "the money we get from selling it as scrap usually goes to fund our Christmas party." .....Seriously?! read more

I'm very disappointed in their customer service. Their work was fine (As near as I can tell, I don't know much about plumbing) but it took forever for them to call me back to schedule an appointment, and at the end of the appointment, there was no communication that the work wasn't actually done and they'd have to come back out. Once I discovered that this was the case (by talking to another contractor) it resulted in further delays to my project and added expenses, well beyond what they'd originally quoted me. When I complained about this, they hung up on me. I really feel like they took advantage of me. read more

In February, Ridings put in a new sump pump and got everything up to code. They still needed to trench in a pipe in my backyard. Shawn came out to meet with the two technicians named John and Chris. I called them at 9 am on a Monday and they had someone at the house within 90 minutes. My house is old and my pipes are a mess but they worked very hard to find the least expensive option. Their solution cost 1/3 of what Mike Williams proposed. They were polite and very careful. Although they told me that my sidewalk might be destroyed they managed to work around it and they also worked from the alley so my fence was not destroyed. And, most important to me, they were respectful of my cat, who was buried where they worked. They put him aside and reburied him later. It was a little thing that meant the world to me. read more

I called Ridings because roto-rooter came and could not get through a block with their eel. I told Ridings I wanted them to video the pipe to see what was wrong and to hydrojet since roto-rooter already tried the eel. Ridings came out and tried the exact same eel that roto-rooter tried for an hour and a half. I asked them if they video'd or hydrojetted and they said they did not bring that equipment. Ended up charging me for the exact thing roto-rooter did and the problem still did not get fixed. read more

We had a slow draining main line. Within 2 hours of my first call, Ridings had it fixed. They used the hydrojets. Now my drain line is completely clean - no more slow draining or gurgling. Hydrojets are the bomb when it comes to cleaning the main line. read more

My business, All Pro Floor Care, Inc., recently moved to a new building. After moving in, we discovered that the garbage disposal in the kitchenette did not work. In fact, it did not even have an on/off switch! This caused water to back up when we used our sink. We called Ridings Plumbing and they came out that same day to access our situation. Their recommendation was to replace the garbage disposal, which we decided to do. Lou called our office early the next business day to advised that he was on his way to our office to replace the garbage disposal. When he arrived, my Office Manager was not sure what needed to be done, so Lou called his office to verify the work order. He determined that he would need to install an on/off switch along with the new garbage disposal; and he not only left to get us a switch, he matched it to the fixtures on the sink! Lou returned quickly, and installed our new garbage disposal and the switch. The work was completed promptly and accurately. When he was done, Lou showed us what he had done, and explained how to trouble shoot common garbage disposal issues. He also cleaned up after himself so that the kitchen was a clean when he left as it was when he arrived. Throughout the process, Lou was pleasant and professional. We are very pleased with our new equipment, and even more pleased with the service we received from Lou and Ridings Plumbing. read more
