staff and owner are EXTREMELY PATIENT HONEST and do not pressure you into spending. Ive had several work done on my hybrid and road bike and the mechanic literally broke it down for me explaining the odds and ends as to why (such problem) was occurring. they are more than willing to take any questions or request. limited on inventory and selection but they've been open for just a bit. i agree with Daniel it will pick up with time! read more

I walk in and notice a lady on phone, and a man restocking. I wanted to get lights for my bike. I found the lights I liked, and ask the man restocking how much? He did not say a word, and kept restocking. I than ask the lady at the front, and got nothing. So very disappointed. read more

Just bought a Cannondale Bad Boy at Ride Brooklyn, and the shop is as fun as the bike. The crew emits a joy, a rubber soul, a contagion that will leave you itching to ride. The inventory gleams, the customers are stoked. A WORD OF CAUTION: test riding the wheels here will result in adrenalized behavior, and is linked to unadulterated, mad fun bike rides all over gotham city! You've been warned... read more

I was in a real bind when the manufacturer and distributor of my wheels didn't send the brake pads that were suppose to be included. They were super helpful, and very very friendly. The shop is nicely laid out and organized. One of the guys who works there is also a Master's Class racer so very knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood! read more

My problems were all resolved by Pete. After posting on Yelp he emailed me the same day and made a personal phone call to me a few days later to make sure that I was a satisfied costumer. Thanks Pete. read more

Ok -- but the mechanics lazy. Don't go there for a repair unless it's something super easy or you'll have to stand over them as they do the work in order to get the job finished correctly. The mechanics are good racers and know their stuff but they rush through stuff too fast and don't care about the details and assume the customers won't either. Otherwise it's a ok shop for buying basic stuff though the vibe of the staff is pretty weird and detached though they are nice enough and somewhat knowledgeable. read more

Great bike shop! I just bought my daughter a schwinn cruiser (banana seat bike) and she needed training wheels! The bike shop by my house told me they could not put training wheels in that bike, so I went to Ride Brooklyn, and my daughter came out with training wheels 40 minutes later. Everyone at the shop was so helpful. Great selection, too! The price is kind of high, though, but great service, name brand stuff, you get what you pay for! read more

I went here specifically to continue Bike Quest 2012. This time, I had the help of a biker-friend who knows his stuff. We quickly laid eyes on a beautiful brown Schwinn. Schwinn's are the bike of my childhood - I simply had to take it for a spin. The sales staff were pretty helpful, even offered me a loaner-helmet while i went for my test ride. I ended up not getting anything here, but am not opposed to coming back to check out their accessories. read more

First couple of times I had mixed reviews, however, the last few times I've been here they have treated me well, both at the front and service area. Yesterday I was there to get a bottom bracket after having talked to them on the phone to make sure they had them in stock. They were very helpful and helped me pick the right one for my setup as well as some tips on how to install it if I was doing it myself. Front desk is pretty efficient and employees are helpful, greeting you when you walk in and asking if you need any help. read more

The people who work here are great--helpful and friendly. I'm not a cyclist but came in because I needed to get a converter and SPD cleats for look/delta spin shoes. Andrew helped me and knew exactly what I needed. They didn't have the right item in stock, but they ordered combination converter/cleats that was a good price and arrived in about two days. They called me when the cleats came in and and installed them on the shoes for me when I came to pick them up. I would definitely come back here again if I ever need anymore spin gear. read more

The people at Ride Brooklyn were so incredibly patient and friendly that i picked a more expensive bike at their location then a competitor around the corner. I am an amateur cruiser and they set me up with everything i needed and helped me put is all together. They also took the time to explain details about my bike so i would be able to fix and replace things myself in the future. Not only do i have a sweet ride, i also have a years worth of check ups and tune ups with them. They are awesome and i totally recommend them to everyone!! read more

Great service at reasonable prices. They have a great deal on tune-ups during the winter so I took it in for that but found my shifter was broken. They told me they had to order a new one for around $100 but they called later and said they found a used one in stock for $50. They could have easily charged me more and I never would have known, but they made an effort to do the repair as cheaply as possible and I appreciate this. Also, for $10 they'll attach a chain to your saddle to prevent it from getting stolen. I had been looking for a solution for this for a long time. They did a good job and got my bike back to me when they said they would. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is that most of the bikes they sell are pretty far out of my price range. If I were a more advanced rider, this would be the perfect spot for me, but I'm more of an amateur and would like a few more options for under $1000. Maybe I can't afford the bikes, but I'll be getting all of my service done here. read more

Stopped in for BMX tires this morning and was pleased with the service. They don't have a huge selection, but they had two that suited my bike. read more

My beloved souped-up Specialized Sirrus was stolen :( and I went into Ride Brooklyn to try out some bikes. They were really friendly and patient and allowed me to try out several. They also put together some bikes for me so I could try certain models in my size. Pete especially seems to know his stuff. They have a great selection of Cannondales and various cruisers (and some other brands, but those were the ones I was trying out...) I was a little bummed that they didn't have Specialized, but then again, I'm biased! :) read more

They have a great location and a good selection of bikes, but one of the salesmen tried to sell me a bike that was too small. Coincidentally, it was the only size that they had in stock. Luckily, I knew enough to go somewhere else. If you're looking for your first bike, beware! read more

I bought a swank cruiser from them a few years ago. It's a complicated bike with a lot of the parts made inaccessible by the structure of the chaincase. Every time I bring it in to have something fixed, I walk out with a new problem. I went in to have the chain tightened (it was dragging on the chaincase) and immediately after leaving the shop my derailleur stopped working. So I went back to have the derailleur adjusted and they charged me for it. Then the chain fell off the bike and I had to return and have it put back on, but then they left the gears all weird and ineffectual. I've just lived with weird ineffectual crunchy gears ever since. "I guess this is how it is now," I says. Then I got a flat, this week, and, with dread, went back in to have it fixed. They charged me an extra 20 dollars labor because it's "so annoying" to get the chain case off to work on it, which is okay, I get that, whatever. But then I pick it up and IMMEDIATELY the brake line falls out of the handle. And IMMEDIATELY I realize that the brake is very, very loose - much looser than it was before I dropped the bike off to have the TIRE fixed. And of course, the chain is dragging on the chaincase again. We're back to square one. I think they shouldn't sell bikes that they can't competently fix. Going back over and over is downright Kafkaesque. I'm taking this beast to Brooklyn Bike and Board to see if I can trade it in for something a little more mechanic-friendly. I can't make myself go back into Ride. read more

Yet another update... again, for service, not store. So I finally did find myself in need of some repair while in the neighborhood again. The bearings in my right pedal were completely shot, and it sounded like machine gun fire any time I started pedaling. So I rolled it in, told them what was up, and was told I needed to replace the pedals--no surprise. The tech who helped me, last name Murray, showed me a variety of pedals and didn't bat an eye when I chose the exact same cheapo plastic pedals he was taking off. And then he didn't even charge me labor for putting them on. Thanks, Mr. Murray. :) So no big fanfare, but a simple job, done quickly and efficiently and exactly as I asked it to be, and less expensive than I'd thought it would be to boot. Definitely warrants another star. read more

Quick and efficient, fixed my dead tire in about 10 minutes. Can't argue with that! Would def. go back for any repairs.

I recently moved to Brooklyn and needed a bike. after looking online and calling around store to store, this was the only place that seemed friendly. I went there the same day as I called asking for hours (more or less getting a feel for the customer service). Upon arrival I wasn't immediately greeted, which I think is good. It gave me a second to get comfortable and look around without feeling like I'm being stared down like at a car dealership. I described what I was looking for in a bike and they showed me multiple options. I eventually settled on a "GIANT" Brand bike, chain lock, and kick stand...spent around $479.00. I looked online at the exact bike and I actually got the bike for almost 60$ less than it sells for on most websites...the chain lock wasn't much different either. You pay a lot for a good bike, not your typical middle schooler Walmart mongoose bmx. I'm overall very happy. Now, I did not put a 5th star because I believe the manager who I talked to was a bit on the rude side with his responses words me, but he could have been having a day so forgive and forget, there's 4 stars because I believe in second chances to be better the next time, which there will be a next time. read more

My experience made me want to never support a local business again. The initial sales person was lovely, but failed to flag that a major cost difference between two products. When I later spoke with a senior sales person to exchange my purchase he was ATROCIOUS!!!! Incredibly rude and condescending. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE!!! read more

Awesome, helpful, and straightforward staff. Picked up my bike here today after having dropped it off a few days ago. Staff was super helpful in arranging pick up and calling to let me know when the work was done. Extremely professional and attentive. Highly recommend. Shout out to Murray. read more

This is a nice store to rent or buys bikes from in manhanttan.

I came here looking to buy a new road bike and the employee I talked to was so condescending, it honestly ruined my day.

Rented a bike here. Painless, reasonably priced, superfun! Recommended.

Went in to get a new bike after moving to Brooklyn, Eddy came up to me immediately and started helping me out. I wasn't a big spender, started out looking at a $500 Raleigh bike, but Eddy helped me sort through numerous bike options and I ended up spending three and a half hours there test driving various bikes. Each time Eddy patiently helped me adjust each bike to get it more comfortable. Left with a great bike that fits my needs. Highly recommend this bike store for the good selection and great staff. read more

Five star service. This place has tuned up my old vintage bike and outfitted myBF with a new bike, and I've gone in here for random quick fixes and they do not charge me for the little things. The staff is friendly (although, sometimes overwhelmed as I think word has gotten out)... stand there for a minute or two and they will get to you and are happy to help. Their tune-up on my old-school bike fixed my scary brakes and they even gave me a discount as there was something they could not adjust with my gears. . read more

Awesome place. The repair guys were incredibly helpful. I went in for a lot of work, and they actually talked me out of some of it and saved me some money. Everything they did was top notch. I was even picky and gave some special instructions and they followed it all perfectly and respectfully. Couldn't ask for more. Highly recommended. read more

a longtime prospect heights resident recommended this bike shop to us and they are really one of the best in the 'hood. really capable, honest, and helpful - it's been hard to find a shop that beats them. quality work every time we've had our bikes serviced. great advice, they've been helpful everytime we've come in with an issue or question. they've checked on items, they've held a bike on sale for us. just a great local shop to have. we like their sister shop, skate brooklyn as well on st marks and 4th ave. since it's in north park slope, they do have lots of children bike attachments and accessories too. read more

This is the nicest bike shop I've ever been to. The absolute antithesis of the stereotypical condescending treatment I get at most bike places (is it worse for women? I dunno, but most NYC places are pretty terrible). These guys are great. Go there! read more

I should have reviewed Ride Brooklyn long ago! Everyone I've interacted with at this shop is excellent, professional, and friendly. I stop by all the time for new pedals, baskets, lights, power bars, flat fixes or some weird thing my bike is doing and they put up with me each and every time. This is really a great shop where I'm happy I purchased my bike. Even after my free tune-up has expired, I will go here again and again for everything my bike needs as long as they're open. Thanks for being there Ride Brooklyn. read more

I have often thought that bike store employees can be assholes. This was often my experience in Austin, where they throw a bit of that know it all, you gotta get an $90 tune up, what'ya mean you've never been to Portland kinda shit at you. This place is full of the nicest, most unpretentious mother fuckers I have encountered anywhere. I picked up some USB lights, and when one broke they exchanged it without a receipt or question, saying that this is the light makers policy of exchange. Sure, I paid a bit for these lights, but with service such as this, it is worth every penny. I picked up a folding bike from them before heading out on tour and could not be happier with my purchase. It's a Tern D8. Badass. The purchase comes with 2 free tune-ups and they replaced a small part that fell off free of charge. It seems they work with companies that offer the same level of no bullshit customer service that they provide. If you are thinking about ordering a bike online, think of the customer service that awaits your next year. Please check these guys out. read more

Really nice. I wanted a townie and had been searching for a NYC area shop where I could see one before buying. When they opened, there were townies lining the sidewalk.....I just wish the had a tire pump outside like r&a read more

These guys are great. Very knowledgeable and fair. Did the upgrades I requested to my bike for a reasonable cost and got it done a day early. Even gave me a deal on a rental bike while mine was in the shop. I'll be coming back. read more

After around 6 flats (in a 2 month period) that I kept bringing to another shop to be fixed, I finally gave up and brought my bike to Ride Brooklyn. The mechanics working here are top notch. They know how to troubleshoot and this is extremely important when dealing with bicycles. If you want an expert working on your bike go here. Thank you for finally fixing the problem. I am extremely grateful. read more

The entire process of dealing with Ride Brooklyn has been AWESOME. I'd been looking at bikes for a year and in all steps (looking at, testing out, asking questions about, buying, and then coming back for service), the guys here have been friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Most recently, I found out someone had let the air out of a tire. I went there this morning thinking they were open, but they weren't scheduled to open for 30 minutes. One of the guys unlocked the store, saw I didn't have an adaptor for the air pump outside the shop and brought out a standing pump so I could refill and be on my way. Buy a bike here. You won't be sorry. read more

Super nice staff and very knowledgeable. Shop is clean, organized and well stocked. I went in looking for a part that is no longer in production. They spent time searching their stock and spare parts to see if they had it and they did. Hooked me up and made my life much easier. Can't say enough good things about them. read more

I signed up to yelp today just to write this review. I went into Ride Brooklyn today to buy a new bike. I'm not a very experienced rider (super rusty) and I was a little nervous hitting a bike shop. I've definitely been to ones where they were judgy of newbies and tried to upsell you and genereally ugh. Ride Brooklyn was NOTHING like that! I was offered help almost immediately and when they understood what my needs were they suggested some options that I hadn't considered. I ended up walking out with a bike that wasn't even on my original list to see. I never would have considered it on my own but it was a much better bike for me than the others I was looking at for the same basic price. I am so so so happy with my bike and everyone who helped me at Ride Brooklyn! read more

Go out of your way to go to this bike shop. It will be worth your while. I have recently in the last two years become an avid cyclist and at the same time moved to Brooklyn. I commute to work and have been to many shops around the Park Slope area. These guys not only know their stuff, they are just nice guys. When I needed something simple like a rear rack for my commuter, the salesguy knew all the nerdy, tiny details that cyclists want to know about RACKS like weight, material, etc. He sold me on a Racktime and the mechanic installed it in minutes. Then when I needed a serious fix on my Cannondale, they were able to fix it while I waited. Seriously, unpretentious and attentive staff. They treat the most novice bikers with the upmost respect and at the same time know how to perform a fitting and give advice to a crit racer. read more

I had a great experience here buying a helmet for my 6-year-old daughter. The gentleman who helped us was really sweet and didn't make us feel rushed. And as other reviewers have said, there was no pretentious attitude that can sometimes happen at bike shops when you aren't a hardcore cyclist. I will definitely return! read more
