Bohio Latin Flavors, Margate…read more Dominican and Puerto Rican cuisine with a heavy emphasis on mofongo, and based on this visit, that's one of the reasons to come here. They offer numerous variations, with your choice of sauce and protein, making this one of the more mofongo-focused restaurants I've seen in Broward. We started with the shrimp mofongo. The plantain mound itself was moist, flavorful, and nicely seasoned, avoiding the dry, dense texture that plagues lesser versions. Ours came topped with a rich shrimp sauce, but other options included a garlic cream sauce and a Creole-style sauce, both of which looked excellent as they passed through the dining room. Of the dishes we tried, the mofongo was actually my favorite. The masitas de cerdo (fried pork chunks) were flavorful and well-seasoned, although they came out a bit drier than I would have preferred. I'd still order them again, but based on what I saw arriving at nearby tables, the pernil may be the move on a future visit. The rice deserves mention as well. The arroz con gandules was excellent, with plenty of flavor rather than simply serving as a side dish. They also offered moro rice in both red bean and black bean versions, which was nice to see. The Punta Cana cocktail was worth ordering. Sweet, tropical, and considerably stronger than it looked. The dining room is much larger than it appears from outside, but this is very much a casual neighborhood spot. It reminded me of the kind of local restaurant you'd find in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic: a large dining room, full bar, TVs on the wall, families gathering for dinner, and the emphasis squarely on the food rather than creating an upscale experience. There's also a stage and DJ setup for live entertainment. One note: service was slow on our Sunday evening visit. After speaking with the manager, I learned she was also the restaurant's only server and that a single cook was handling the kitchen while also keeping up with a steady stream of takeout orders. Given those realities, the pace made more sense. Everyone was friendly, but this isn't the place to visit if you're in a hurry. Both English and Spanish menus are available, although the primary server was clearly more comfortable interacting in Spanish. They also feature Latin music and a DJ on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, which is probably when the room really comes alive. If you're a fan of mofongo, pernil, arroz con gandules, or Dominican comfort food in general, Bohio is worth adding to your list.

The food is delicious, fresh and authentic. My favorite part or this restaurant is their salsa and sauce station, where the guests can fill up their own little cups of salsas and spicy sauces to go, or to dine in. I had the steak meal, with rice, beans and sweet plantains, it was flavorful and everything was well seasoned. Definitely come here if you're looking for a meal that will for sure fill you and not break your wallet

One thing I've noticed with La Granja lately is that every location seems to taste different. Some locations actually season their food and put flavor into it, while others serve food that tastes like the seasoning never made it into the building. Consistency should matter when you're operating under the same brand. I honestly should've just gone to the La Granja on 441 and Atlantic. I've had much better experiences there. This Margate location just didn't deliver for me. I will give credit where it's due: Cynthia, who took my order, was amazing. She was friendly, helpful, professional, and provided excellent customer service. She was easily the best part of my experience. And somehow, the one thing La Granja seems to get right consistently no matter which location I visit is those flavorful onions! At least those never disappoint. When you've eaten at as many La Granjas as I have, you can definitely tell which locations are putting love and seasoning into the food. Unfortunately, this one isn't making my favorites list. The brand needs more consistency from location to location.

We had the beans, rice, sweet plantains, fries, and salad. It was all scrumptious and couldn't have asked for more for only $67. Nothing was dry and everything was flavorful. Our waitress was very patient and practiced our Spanish with us and we practiced English with her. She explained everything really well and kept us from over ordering. She was outstanding. The restaurant has a section with comfortable chairs and tables, but they also have two bars and a more casual seating section. The music was upbeat and fun without being too loud to talk over. They have nice little Colombian knickknacks for sale. We were too full to try desserts, but the ones behind the counter looked great! This place came highly recommended by our Colombian friend for authentic Cali food and now we recommend it to you.

Today I ordered Carne Asada and was just as delighted as my first visit. The entrée itself was very full. It came with grilled steak, rice, french fries and the salad. The steak was grilled to perfection and did not need any sauce however I did appreciate the sauce it came with. The rice was a salty delight. The salad was fresh and I love the tomato toppings. The service can be a little slow, but it's worth the short wait. The restaurant itself is quite big, it can fit both small and large families. There are booths and tables to choose from. Please check out this restaurant! 5/5.
