steer clear of this business. A new kitchen sink installed and a outdoor facet replaced. Total time to work on these issues was 2 hours. The charge $800. Yes they sell you on a fixed price of each item. Knowing full well that it will not take any where near that long. They removed my old sink and scratched the counter top with the phillips head screwdriver they used to remove the old DAP. They broke a 100 year old ceramic bird and did not mention it just moved it to a different area and we noticed later. They said the new sink would not seat correctly but that was due to the attempt to hide the screwdrive mark mentioned above. The supervisor came out later and the sink worked fine. Rip-off business. Never even responded to my issues. Initially, the owners wife tried to put me off. they have it down pat for not making it right. read more

Get a quote first even if you have used Rick's for ages and ages. I have used Rick's for the last 4, almost 5 years in spite of the fact they are typically priced a little higher than other plumbers in town. They have always done a solid job for me and are always available but their prices have gone way up to the point of being ridiculous. My usual, yearly sewer line clean out rate (never more than $180) doubled this time. They claimed it was because they raised their rates but also cleaned the line to my garage apartment and that was a second line. They had always cleaned that line before because it's all on the same line and the rate was still under $180. They did come down on the price after I called the office but it was still way over priced. Main Sewer line clean out is quoted at $250, the branch clean out to my garage apartment is quoted at $175. The original quote given was $593 for 90 min of work, sewer line and branch line clean-out and toilet pull & reset. I will no longer be using Rick's Plumbing Services nor can I recommend them. read more

I have used Ricks for both small and larger projects. I had a flange break to the point the pipe bent so they had to remove the concrete foundation to replace it. They se set the foundation more level than is was before so the new toilet would sit more flush to the floor. It was done very quick only taking half a day. A few months later I had an unrelated blockage during the weekend. The total cost was about 170 which included the non business hours charge and weekend rate. The plumber arrived quickly after the call was placed. And did not take long to remove the roots blocking the line. He then explained the options I had going forward to fix the problem before the roots regrew and blocked the line again. Both plumbers were quick and knowledgeable. They were respectful of my dog and house. They are not the cheapest but I trust them to get the job done the first time. read more

They were recommended to us by a friend. The first job they did for us was okay. After that it began to cost more plus the problem was never completely eliminated. After thousands (over $10K) of $$$ worth of work with two sewer lines being replaced, one that required tearing out concrete, and other calls in between for stopped up lines, we still have overflowing toilets and a backed up tub and washer line. Great service. TJ and Kirk were professional, personable, and did a good job. Cannot say enough good things about the service and time it took to do the repair. They answered all questions clearly and in a manner I understood. TJ also talked to my insurance adjustor, the tile man and my husband to make sure everyone and everything coordinated with his work and understood the scope of what he was doing. Kirk is learning the trade and kudos to TJ for his teaching skill. Kirk is going to be as good as TJ in the future. The one time TJ had to leave the job site, Kirk continued on working hard! No "playing" while the boss was away! Very nice guy. Since there was jackhammering going on and dirt being hauled out then back in, my bathroom was a wreck! Not mentioning some very unprofessional actions that I chose to overlook. The job was left unfinished. They failed to put in valve covers that were agreed upon and reminded about on several occasions. They didn't even back fill the digging that was required for the job. Supervisor came out and talked a good talk but in the end he stopped short of fulfilling his promises as well. If you have other options I would consider them. read more

I called Rick's plumbing and explained my situation that I had a 24 year old water heater that looked like it was on it's last leg and needed someone to come out and replace it before Christmas because that would be awful if it busted during Christmas. They came out and did an amazing job and installed a nice water heater that should last me a long time. I was able to talk to the owner and wanted installed what he would put in his own house and that's what I got. Poor guys were working in the freezing rain but they knocked it out pretty quick and couldn't be happier with their work. We had a back up in our kitchen on a Saturday and began looking for a plumbing service that was open. I called and the Lady on the other end was so friendly and listened to me explain the problem. I asked about setting an appt for Monday and she said it would only be an extra $65 to come out that day--My wife was elated!! Chuck came out quickly and took care of the issue, but said that we needed to be jetted because of the grease. Monday morning TJ and Kirk showed up and finished the job in less than an hour. They showed me thru the camera that most of the issue was removed. They went back in to finish the couple of places that he saw on the camera. Both "Gentlemen" were very professional and very kind. I had a previous OK experience with Rick's Plumbing but last Saturday they sent over a Plumber that totally ripped us off. I was hooking up a bidet attachment with universal fittings. I had a small leak and am not good with teflon tape. Anyway this guy insisted that my connectors were wrong and he also replaced the flushing system inside the toilet. By the time he left he handed me a $300 invoice and also said that because I still had customer provided pieces that he couldn't guarantee that the toilet wouldn't leak. Seniors Beware! This company showed up to my Mom's house and had her sign work orders for over $3000 worth of work. The work seemed to be quality but the charges excessive and they hard sell a Preventative Maintenance agreement for $129 per year that results in money for nothing. The estimate was made for the work and agreed to by her and the final bill was much more. They even charged her for another Maint. Agrmt for $129 when she still had one that didn't expired until 8/22. They are difficult to deal with if it's their fault but apparently are even tougher to get money back from. I take care of all my Mom's business and they caught her in a weak moment in order to line their pockets. I consider that to be the lowest thing a company can do is take money from an older person who is confused and being taken advantage of. Please be very suspicious of any dealings with this company and these people. read more

The same clerk said that she has not been able to get in contact with her supervisor ... apologized for not calling back. Waited 2 weeks .... NO CALL! Called and the same clerk said no. BEWARE. PROBABLY A RIP OFF. My service fee was $150.00 for 30 minutes and no parts used. Thats $300.00 an hour. Service guy wanted to order two expensive shower valves that were not needed. Tried to use these guys during a bathroom remodel, but technician told me he had to charge me another trip bc I needed faucet extensions for my granite countertops and he had to go 7 miles to get them. I decline, called a competitor and they came out and set me up ...never mentioned anything about extensions etc. two years later still no issues. Just completed a kitchen remodel and contractor hit a pipe in wall with screw. Saturday morning called and they sent a technician out (after I sent pictures etc) technician said it was going to cost $1800!!!! I declined. He then came back in from his truck said he could do it for $1000. I declined again. He charged me the trip fee of $65. Called a competitor and they came out that evening. Took them 2 hours and $675, I repeat ... $675 later. Issue fixed. This company will answer their phone but be ready to get into your deep deep pocket. read more

I can't believe I didn't check these reviews before hiring Rick's Plumbing to do the plumbing for our new build, especially since I've always been one to check customer reviews. Thank God we didn't sign any contracts to compete the rest of the plumbing for our home. They came out to do the rough-in and after they finished the first day, I knew immediately upon seeing it that there was a major mistake. They had the island sink drain 6 feet off; basically the drain would have been sitting about 4 feet behind where our seats would have been at the island, in the middle of the room. Me... a female with ZERO knowledge of plumbing, noticed the mistake and not his "very experienced plumber with 15 years of experience"! After the owner being quite pissed that we called him out, he finally sent his "experienced plumber" out that confirmed the mistake. They never did a water test, so if any of the pipes leak under the foundation, we're screwed. We called this morning to see where they were, and he said they were busy with other jobs. Needless to say, my husband raised his voice a bit. Rick said in response, "I knew you were going to be a problem because you're from California". No Rick, we're going to be a problem because we hired you to do a job that you have not only left unfinished, but did an unprofessional job of the work you already started. Everybody we've encountered in Texas so far has been awesome and we haven't run into any discrimination because we're from California until Rick's Plumbing. We never told him we were from California, but apparently he noticed our license plates and judged us on that. Unfortunately, we also paid him before the job was complete and now he is refusing to complete the job. My next phone call and complaint letter will be to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. read more

Just a few days ago Shawn, one of Rick's Plumbing's very experienced plumbers was sent to fix a disposal leaking problem per my request at my home in Burleson, Texas. Rick blessed me and my wife by sending a very experienced and professional plumber named Shawn. He had a super personality, was easy to talk to, and was in and out before I was through telling him what the problem was! Super plumber that had a knack for covering up his predecessor plumber that might have cause the problem during the disposal installation by not locking in the very top connection that attaches the disposal to the sink drain. It does my heard well to know that there are others around that take-up for others rather than just fix the problem and take at others expense. Didn't happen in this case and please inform Rick, if Rick, doesn't read these reviews that Shawn in his honesty explained the truth of the problem and went... out of his way... to show my wife and me the problem. Seriously, Shawn must be one of your best all around plumbers because his personality stands out and also his professionalism in handling your customers. His experience in plumbing is evident by observation and talking to him concerning residential and commercial codes and engineering buildings. It is seldom when we find someone such as Shane who appears to be able to do it all but you have a person on your staff that I believe is a leader and appears to be a good example for younger plumbers! Rick's company had also fixed another problem for me awhile back and my wife and I were very impressed with their knowledge and abilities. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! INEXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS!!! Expect multiple visits and multiple days off work to deal with their crap. They'll come for the initial visit, enter your garage without permission or announcing their arrival, take your money, not fix the problem, then leave without testing their work. Have spent two days trying to get a hot water heater fixed, that's under a year old, three visits, multiple techs, then they wanted to charge for a weekend service fee when if they'd had fixed the issue first round, we wouldn't have had to call on a weekend visit. Each visit tech wanted more money, for different services and different parts. Asked for a refund since they obviously cannot fix the problem, and they refused. We put a stop payment on first check since they did NOT fix the problem and after their customer service was YELLING at us for requesting it be fixed or a refund issued. They refused refund, wanted to send a 4th tech out in two days. We obviously want to go somewhere else. Completely unprofessional!!! SCAM SERVICES!!! WATCH OUT!!! read more

One of his guys came out the next day, when job was finished it was more than double the estimate and charged a travel fee that I was not told about up front. Wrote the company via their website and mail and never received a response. Contacted the BBB and they also never received a response from Rick's concerning the inquiry. I had Rick's Plumbing out to my house to rebuild 2 hose bibs. Was told there would be a $65 service call fee, but if they did the repair the fee would be waived. I new what I needed done and asked for an estimate on the cost. The young lady taking the call said they could not give cost of the job, even though the website says free estimates. So i ask for someone to give me a call to give me an idea of the cost. No one did after calling and asking for someone to call me twice. I was also told that I would be told the cost before the work was performed. The service guy told me $50 to $60 to rebuild the two hose bibs, ok I said. Then we figured out that the anti-freeze valves were bad. I had one and the service guy had one, was told the part would be $25. So I'm thinking $85 to a $100 max. Then he presented me with an invoice for $185 with no breakdown of what cost what. I have used Rick's in the past and was always happy with the service, but not this time. Needless to say in the future I will not be calling Rick's and any time a plumber comes up I will be sure to past along my experience with Rick's Plumbing. read more
