Rick's used to be our family's go to place for auto care. Unfortunately, the quality of service and customer service has gone down. Before they would pay extra attention to detail and meet you out in the parking lot to welcome you and ask what service you need. Now, they wait for you to go inside the garage and then a service may or may not be available. I get that staffing shortages could be an issue but perhaps they should look into hiring folks that are committed and not advertise that they provide a particular service when the only person that can perform that service is never there. Went in for an oil change and attempted to use the coupon posted on their website for $5 off your oil change. I was told that you have to print the coupon out to get the discount (even though that isn't in the text on the coupon or on the website). After a lot of back and forth the manager said he would allow me to go print the coupon and bring it back and he would refund me the $5. I said OK and that I would bring cash with me to pay instead of the CC I used originally to save the 2.5% fee. I get back with the coupon and the cash and informed the manger that I have the cash with me (it was also in my hands and on the counter when he took the paper coupon) he refunds the $5 and then asks..."what are you doing?" to which I told him I brought cash back for the payment like I said. I hate to leave 1 star reviews, especially from an establishment that was highly recommend to me from a family member. About a week and a half ago my car started to leak oil. The family member said go to ricks they are good. Anywho I called last week around 830 am and said I had an oil leak and is this something they can take care of and can I make an appointment; I was told it was on a first come first serve basis no appointments needed, then I asked if I come in around 12 would that be ok. Again over the phone the guy said just come on in. I went in at noon, and was told they couldn't take me because they were busy and it's first come first serve and I needed to be there by 8am to be seen (umm ok I understand that but why when I called did you say to come in only to waste my time and send me away); anywho a week later I make arrangements to have my dad pick me up a ricks at 8am cause I intend to leave my car there to get worked on for the day. First I walk up to 2 guys staring at me in the bay, (no good morning, no how can I help) as a women it made me feel really uncomfortable. I then go up to the guys and say "good morning I was here last week about oil leaking from my car and was told to come back at 8am since it's first come first serve". The guy then says "so what do you need? (With attitude)" again I said oil is leaking from my car and I would like it fixed. He then said it sounds like my "oil needs to be cleaned out and I needed to go to the car wash" ummm ok. So then I re asked, so what you're telling me is you don't fix oil leaks here then?" His rude response was we do, but not today we're short staffed and it's first come first serve. I didn't even argue, simply walked away and won't be coming back ever. I called the other location in Torrance who originally quoted me $300 over the phone but then upon looking at my car they told me it be about $450 which is reasonable! I am very disappointed by the subpar service I received here today. I guess because the owners were not present the employees felt they could act however they wanted. I was not acknowledged when I pulled up, then was told I had to wait behind a car that pulled in behind me. I explained that I was there first. Then when it was time to pay, the boy at the front desk did not acknowledge me and I waited minutes for him to look up just to be welcomed by a lackluster attitude. I went to the Mazda dealership for routine maintenance (ie., an oil change) and as usual, the dealership recommended that I get additional services (air filter and cabin filter replacement, wheel alignment, and a fuel induction service). The dealership attempted to charge me $110 for new filters, $130 for a wheel alignment, and $190 for the fuel induction service . I know the dealership has the tendency to overcharge and up sell unnecessary repairs, so I stopped by Rick's Lube after being referred to them by one of my friends. I arrived a little after 4:30pm without an appointment and they changed my filters almost immediately for only $65. They also informed me that I didn't need the fuel induction service (which I figured since my car only has 34,300 miles) and recommended another shop for my wheel alignment. My father whose 84 years and trusted your establishment for years went in for an oil change and also requested a tire pressure check and adjustment Wednesday 12/15/2021 because we're driving out of town for the Holidays. He even asked to make sure tires were checked and they said yes.Those two tasks were supposedly completed and we were charged for it. Next morning I like to make sure everything was done so I checked the tire pressures myself and to my surprise all four tires are at 22 to 24 PSI. Obviously we were set up for failure and potential road problems. Tire maintenance is crucial especially going into a 500 mile journey. This negligence would piss people off. Integrity especially in an auto maintenance shop is delicate and absolute. My family brought all our cars here for service (about 9 vehicles). Not anymore, and possibly future potential customers after they read this. I take offense when people endanger my family's safety. Took my car for smoke check the tech did not say anything to me and I did not get a check to talk to any of the employees as they were horsing around! At the end someone waved at me to come to him to pay and when I say I have a coupon he told me is not valid because I was supposed to show it when I arrived, I said I did not get a chance to talk to any of you and he said sorry but we can't use it now. Bad service I was not told why my car did not pass smoke check. I was told I need it to pay more. I've known Rick for years. Recently I purchased a car from a tow yard to drive as a commuter. I took the car to the dealership. They quoted me $20,000 to make the repairs. I took the quote to Rick and he laughed. Many of the things the dealership suggested we're not even required.
