But then I realized after reading the form that a smog check was required! Otherwise (insert Seinfeld's soup Nazi voice here): "NO REGISTRATION FOR YOU!" I heard many good things about Hi Tech Auto Center so I bounced hoping to get it done on a Saturday morning. This entire corner is riddled with different kinds of business to serve various car needs. ("Auto Center!" I get it!) But there was only one thing I needed to get done... I met Christopher and told him what I needed. Luckily, he just finished up with one car and mine was next. He directed me to the lobby to wait and will let me know once everything is a-okay. What impressed me the most about him is when I overheard him explain to the customer before me that there are other things needed to be done with her car for it to pass a smog test. (She did have an older model car.) I was almost surprised with how he simplified everything to her and that it was nothing to worry about too much - that it can still be done right there and then at very little cost. I purchased my car in 2018 and have brought it here for service ever since. But the last 3-4 visits, I do the same thing, sit in the lobby for about an hour then walk around the lot looking at cars. I've been think about getting a new car for a while, but I haven't had a car note in years, so I'm reluctant. Not to mention, I rarely drive, so rare that I was thinking of just selling the car, then had to have someone bring me back to logic. Let me just say this, this review is in no way about the service dept. If I had an other issues I would go to Carson or Manhattan Beach, but I come here. Today's visit really annoyed me, I'm stilling in the lobby reading my book and a salesman named Anthony comes in and begins to speak about the 4th of July sale. I listen, because I can really be easily convinced to get a new car, but I notice that despite him having my full attention and us only being within feet of each other, he is not talking to me. He confirmed it, when he begin asking everyone in the room, individually, if they were interested in taking a look at the numbers on trading in a vehicle for a new one without any commitment. He didn't ask me or the guy behind him who could easily be confused as being asleep. I didn't speak up, because I could just as easily be swayed by characteristics to keep my money. What I did do was get up and walk the lot, like I normally do when I am here and I peaked at a few cars, while also speaking with my husband, because I needed someone who was going to tell me if I was over thinking the whole situation. Can you guess what happened next, as walked around circling the cars and taking an extra second to stare at the sticker... Nothing! No one approached me and asked if they can help. No one came out of the sales office, after watching me from the large glass windows I was looking at vehicles in front of. Nothing! So I walked back to the lobby to wait for my car and write this review. But then, I started wondering why I was even giving 3 stars and my husband called me back to ask if I saw anything I liked. I told him I didn't but they probably had the car on the used car side. So I got up and walked around the used car lot side and I did see two or three vehicles that I was interested in. These I took a few extra seconds to look at because I wanted to see the price, the year, the details, the warranty information. But again, no one came out. No one came to help me to ask if I was interested in anything or to see if I needed assistance. The only time I spoke to an employee at South Bay Toyota was each time I walked back to the service center where they offered me shuttle services or wanted to see if there's anything that they could assist me with. So I am giving three stars because I could easily walk to service department and ask them to get me a sales agent and I'm sure that person who comes to me would be all too enthusiastic about showing me what's available. It has happened before and that's why I know exactly what vehicle I want next.

So quick and painless. They can however only service 1 car at a time and I got lucky as the previous customer was leaving right as I pulled up. If there's a line though, I assume it could be a wait. I see a lot of 4 stars but even before this incident, it was not really more than 3 stars at best. I went this particular time and gave the man my registration form and was told to pull my car up. There was a faux pas where I locked my keys in my car just that quick. I had to wait for a bit to have an extra key brought to me. There were a few cars that came through for the service. I finally was able to pull up. Everything was fine and he handed me my smog cert and receipt. What he failed to do was return my registration form but I did not realize it until I got home so I went back to let him know he still had my form and without even looking, he was very adamant that he gave it back and I was 100% sure he had not...I hadn't been anywhere else and it was not in the car. So I asked if he could just look but he was rude and very unsympathetic to my request. I was insistent so he half-heartedly looked and I asked about a stack of papers that he finally rushed-looked through and then I ask about some other stack of folded papers that happened to be other registration forms of other customers that he claimed that they threw away. He tossed them at me to look through. I did not recover my form. Why would there be a stack of other customer forms that customers threw away just laying around if they threw them out? Why didn't he throw them out if that was the case? He probably didn't return their's either! Then it dawned on me that perhaps he was right and so was I. I had been there for a minute and he had my form the whole time so when the other cars came through while I was waiting for my extra key, he probably handed my form to one of those other customers or it's still there at his shop stuck somewhere but didn't bother to really look for it. I have no complaints with the smog check only the rude-ass merchant and because of that, I will go elsewhere where courtesy counts when spending my dollars! My form was never found that the merchant said he returned to me. How it got lost from his shop to my home is beyond my comprehension! Note: if any fraudulent activity arise as a result of my info being hijacked by this business or mistakenly given to the wrong customer, Best Buy Smog will be liable!!!!!!
