I don't usually write reviews, but Roberto's Auto Repair absolutely earned this one. I originally found them after asking ChatGPT for recommendations on a trustworthy mechanic to diagnose some steering issues with my car, and Roberto's was the first recommendation. From my very first phone call, I had a great experience. I called on a Thursday, and they were able to get me in the very next day. The receptionist was friendly, welcoming, and made the entire scheduling process incredibly easy. When I dropped my car off on Friday, I explained the steering concerns I'd been experiencing. They listened carefully, assured me they would thoroughly inspect everything, and later that afternoon called to let me know they expected to have the car ready by Monday. What impressed me the most was their honesty. After inspecting my car, they told me they couldn't find anything that needed to be replaced regarding my steering concerns. They easily could have recommended unnecessary repairs, and I never would have known the difference, but they chose to be honest instead. That kind of integrity is hard to find. They also performed a wheel alignment, topped off my tire pressure, and even identified a completely separate issue that will need attention in the future. They gave me a quote for that repair without any pressure or sales tactics. To top it all off, my final bill was nearly $200 less than I had originally expected. I first came here for my car after seeing all the positive Yelp reviews and now I understand why it has such a good rating. The first time I visited, I brought new brake pads I wanted installed. After taking a look at my current brake pads, Roberto showed me how much longer they should be used for before being replaced (I was ignorant to how worn my brake pads currently were). He could have just charged me and did the service, but since it wasn't needed he was honest and told me so. After checking my tire pressure, I left that day without paying a thing. Fast forward a couple months and I recently took my car in again for an oil change, tire rotation, and a couple other things. First, I was able to receive detailed updates on everything from Amairany at the front desk by text, especially when my input was needed. Next, Roberto completed the oil change and tire rotation, but also didn't charge me for any of the other issues I asked him to inspect (even though those things take time and effort). Lastly, I had forgotten when the shop closed. I received a text saying they were closing and asking if I was still coming to pick up my car. I said I would be able to get there in ~30 minutes. Even though I would be very late, Amairany told me it was completely fine and waited for me to get there until I could pick up my keys and car. It's not often that you come across an auto repair shop and find such honesty and integrity in their work, but it's these qualities that have solidified this place as my go-to auto repair shop. read more

I was referred by someone on the nextdoor app. Having a bad experience before with a local mechanic in Lomita, I'm scared to go anywhere other than the dealer, but also don't want to pay dealer prices. We have been using Roberto's services for the last two years. Roberto and his team are always friendly, honest, helpful and skilled. The front office team have good communication skills. Roberto does a fantastic job at providing good repair solutions at a fair price. Most recently the pistons started failing in our engine that had over 200,000 miles on it. Unfortunately this is not an easy repair but we also did not want to buy another car. After discussing all the options and checking in with the dealer we agreed the best course of action was to replace the engine. Roberto and his team did a great job of getting a new manufacturer certified engine that came with a 36 month, nationwide warranty. In the process of swapping engines he discovered additional components that were damaged and worn (as we expected with over 200,000 miles). Roberto swapped those parts as well, with no additional charge for labor since the engine was already dismantled. Wow, who does that?!?!? In the end my car is running great, my engine has a warranty for 3 years and he saved me between $3000-$4000 over what the dealer would have charged for the same work. Seriously, what a blessing! One other note, Roberto also does used car purchase inspections. So, if you are considering buying a used car you can make an appointment with him. He will drive the car, run it through computer diagnostics and put it up on the jack system (don't know what those are called) and do a physical inspection. While he cannot see everything, he can certainly help you figure out if any work will be required on the car to keep you safe and happy (and how much that work will cost). Very honest, knowledgeable and reasonable. We brought in my sister's older car for a long overdue service because the belt squeal had gotten so bad and it had not had work since before the pandemic. My sister is disabled, on limited income, and vulnerable to Covid, so she needed us to handle this for her. When we dropped off the car, we gave this business permission to fully replace the serpentine belt and do other services. We fully expected that those things needed to be done. It turns out it just needed adjusting and some new filters and an oil change! We appreciate the honesty of this business to not just go ahead and replace the things we fully expected to pay to replace. I just picked my van up from Roberto's. The van has an intermittent problem and he put a lot of effort into checking the van over but couldn't replicate the problem. I kept hearing a rubbing noise from my brakes when applying them and backing out driveway or driving through parking lot with foot on brake pedal. I for sure thought it was the front rotors. Well I took it to Roberto and he was kind and professional from the gate. Told me he wanted to check it out before assuming anything. 30 minutes later they informed me my rotors and pads was in great shape. They also said maybe it was material of brakes ( previous owner ). I have become a very careful purchaser of mechanic's services over the course of over 40 years, having worked with many shops on a variety of cars which I have owned. For many years, I enjoyed the work done for me on several Saabs by Anders at SwedeCar in Torrance. I even drove from O.C. for years in order to have him do the work I needed. A couple of years ago, I needed a new mechanic for a Ford Explorer owned by my young daughter. Roberto's shop is right next to Anders' and he recommended him very highly. This turned out to be one of those special "miracles" which happen now and then. Since then, Roberto has done all of the repairs needed on the Explorer. In every instance, Roberto and his crew have provided skillful, reasonably priced, honest, fair, and very caring service. Roberto is not only a great mechanic, but also a special person. Excellent customer service and super honest mechanic. I work on cars as my hobbie and we needed to service the AC. My girlfriend took the car and he didn't try to tricked her into fixing or buying extra services that weren't necessary. He ran the diagnostics and serviced the AC without any extra charges, he just billed us for the AC service. Honestly I recommend this shop to anyone.
