I had a meal at Bernie's. It started off with about a 30-45 minute wait, but considering it's close…read moreto McCarren Park, we were able to just walk around there and kill time. Once we got seated, we got to see the very old-school, fun atmosphere inside, and were seated at a very comfortable booth, which is great for a group! We got the baby back ribs, eggplant parm, Caesar salad, vinegar chicken, and brownie sundae. The Caesar salad was all right, nothing amazing, but still done well! Just didn't blow me away. The vinegar chicken was awesome! The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, and it was packed with flavor. The sauce was to die for. The eggplant Parmesan was also great! It was executed perfectly. The sauce had great flavor, and the eggplant was tender, yet crispy on the outside. The ribs were also great. They had a nice tangy barbecue sauce and were cooked very well. The brownie sundae looked awesome. However, it didn't blow me away. I felt like the mint ice cream was good, but I wish there were more brownie pieces in there. The service was also great and super friendly, and I like that they have crayons at the table so you can draw on them. I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving some great American food!

The mix of a thousand island type sauce with ketchup made this burger a 10/10. The sesame bun gives the burger a great softness with all the other textures. + the fries gave me the feeling of an elevated mcdonald's fry! caesar salad was perfect. Lots of lettuce, not overly anchovy and just the croutons were soft and crisp at the same time? very much enjoyed how big of a portions all of these items were. chicken parm sauce was tangy and had good flavoring with the perfect melted cheese on top of the soft but crisp edges of the chicken. i'd highly recc all three items we got! service was quick once we got seated and was nice to be outside in the warm weather.

Delicious delivery from here!…read more My fiancée and I shared two Pitanga Açaí Bowls and each had a Pao de Queijo. The acai bowls were yummy and had a good mix of everything and this is a solid choice. I loved the coconut flakes on them! Next time I hope to try some of the others on the menu, as they have a variety and they can be customized a bit. The Pao de Queijo breads were almost shaped like muffins and had an interesting, texture but were super cheesy and I would definitely order again. Overall this is a great option in Brooklyn for delicious and healthy food!

Casual, new-age, cafe with a focus on health and wellness. Glad they had seats open on a Sunday…read moremorning. Chicken sandwich was delicious. Chicken was flavorful and moist, the focaccia was decent (needed more indicators of a real focaccia (dimpled indentations on top, olive oil forward exterior, etc) but it was good. It's also very filling so it's worth the $22. I would have preferred a whole grilled chicken patty instead of chopped grilled chicken but flavor wise it's not a big deal. Fries are classic shoestring fries. Akin to a McDonald's fry in appearance but less oily and salty (good thing). Lattes were good but nothing special. Pão de queijo (cheesy bread) was also very good. Classic flavor. Nothing that stands out though. Would return, but it's not a first choice.

I wanted to love it so much especially since TikTok critic/MMA fighter Keith Lee visited them in 2023, but my experience was not like his. I want to say that online reviews are almost about accurate. They were out of cold salads and collard greens which was an issue for other customers at times as well. No problem, they were super helpful and offered an alternative but not a good one. I had steamed vegetables that mashed in my mouth like mashed potatoes when I took a bite. I did end up going to another spot for collard greens and potato salad because you can't have soul-food without that. I had the rib dinner with mac n cheese and yams and a tiny piece of complimentary cornbread. The ribs definitely taste amazing but they don't take off the membrane in the back which is slimy and gross. I left that part behind. The yams were sweet and good BUT.....that mac n cheese is NOT soul-food Mac n cheese. Here's the thing I figured out, they use such little cheese but season the noodles very well that you don't truly notice unless you love mac n cheese, which I do, so I noticed it lacked so much cheese but had seasoned noodles. The rib dinner was a 3/5 because ribs were great but sides needed help. I had rice and peas as an additional side and fried wings. The wings were ATROCIOUS! I ate the smallest one and didn't eat the rest. How can you serve such huge feathered wings like that? It was a nightmare. The feathers being on it turned me off. This tells me they don't make their food with care, they move quick to be one and done and I want my food cooked with love and care. They were also frozen wings that were thawed and seasoned, I know the difference. The rice and peas were okay 3/5 as well. Overall the food was not worth the hype. Customer service was beautiful for sure but the food was not it.

I have heard a lot about Stowaway and wanted to come here and see for myself what the fuss is…read moreabout. I also heard of their $1 happy hour oysters, which is always a draw for me, so dining here was a natural choice. The establishment looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you walk in, you are transported in time to a cozy, vintage themed café with a small bar and a few tastefully scattered tables. I glanced over the raw oysters on another table and was very unimpressed by their miniature size. Also, unlike what their website states, the happy hour oysters are actually $1.50 each, which I found slightly annoying and maybe they should work on updating their website. Instead of going the raw route, I ordered the charbroiled oysters off the happy hour menu to start. I also heard their hush puppies are really famous and so I wanted to give them a try as well. For my main entrée, I saw another patron with a chicken sandwich and I ordered it. The hush puppies were really good, slightly on the sweet side with a fluffy corn batter, crunchy exterior. The dipping sauce that came on the side was actually a molasses butter, which was to die for. I do think that the hush puppies were a little bit on the greasier side, I could see that the insides had soaked in some oil which is never good for a fried item. They should probably work on frying these at a better temperature to keep the dish light and not as greasy. The chicken sandwich I was expecting from the looks of it for the chicken fillet to be meatier and thicker, but, when I bit into it, it was a lot more breading than I thought it would be with very little chicken. The side of pickles that came with the sandwich were absolutely delicious and really held a sandwich together because all that grease really needed a solid pickle to cut through it and these pickles did exactly that. I would love if they served even more of those on the side with the sandwich. The salad that came on the side of my sandwich was bright, well seasoned and delicious and not drowning and olive oil, which I appreciated. The charbroiled oysters were honestly a disappointment. This is a dish that probably would've worked well if they were using larger size oysters, but the topping to oyster ratio was just really off. The whole thing was extremely salty and the sauces on the oysters completely overpowered the oyster flavor. These were served with sourdough bread, which was a nice touch because the bread carries the sauce from the oysters very well. The oysters themselves had a lot of grease and then the toasted bread was also very greasy. I think that's one thing that I really did not like about this place is that their food was EXTREMELY GREASY. Normally food with fried components is not supposed to be this heavy but having this meal actually made me feel ill afterwards, and I only ate half of everything and had mad leftovers. I hope that they can improve on certain things based on my feedback. Service was friendly, it's a small space and it's not too hard to get a server's attention. I think their menu has so much potential. If they could just make a few need changes to elevate the quality of their food, this would be easily a five star establishment.

Ordered the Low Country Shrimp gravy biscuit with a hashbrown and an order of Fried Okra. What I received: A biscuit dotted with 2 small steamed shrimp and a container of gravy. I thought perhaps there would have been more shrimp in the gravy, but there was not. Nice biscuit, gravy could have been seasoned better and did not receive the hashbrown. Instead of Fried Okra, I received Hushpuppies. I will give them another shot. I enjoyed the vibe of the southern bistro and felt very comfortable. The wait was about 20 mins.

For 5 people, we ordered just about the whole menu. We probably could've gone with 10 dishes…read moreinstead of the 12 that we ordered. I would rank the piergois in the following order. Kaszanka Pierogi (blood sausage) Jalapeno Pierogie Tatarskie (potatoes, eggs, dill, scallion, bacon) Spinach Potato & Cheese Sauerkraut & Mushroom / Meat Don't skip out on the red borscht. Even a friend who doesn't like beetroot enjoyed it. It felt hearty, warm, comforting to the stomach. The croquette was good but we got the meat filling which has a texture of tuna, which we weren't a fan. The kielbasa dish was good- It was a meaty sausage and it wasn't overly salty and the fried pierogi was excellent. The stuffed cabbage was good. Just know it's boiled cabbage leaves wrapped around the same filling as the pierogi choice. The harvest salad was good to break up all the pierogi but it does come with 3 more pieces of pierogi (we had fried jalapeno). I'm sad to say the crepe wasn't the same as the one I had in Poland so I was so disappointed. It was closer to a french crepe. It's a soft thin skin of a crepe with a cheese filling topped with a very light whipped cream. The highlight was the pierogis. I think they're catered to our tastes. The skin was on the thin side. If I were to come back, I'd order the same menu, minus the sauerkraut & mushroom and meat filling pierogis. I would also order the borscht, kielbasa, and harvest salad again.
