A bagel with cream cheese. Here I am thinking, wow - they must really be putting love into this bagel for it to take so long. Wrong. It was a soggy cold bagel with a packet of cheap cream cheese that I was supposed to put on it myself. I hate to sound ungrateful, but come on... if I wanted to pay for a cold bagel and cream cheese, I could have gone to the grocery store and received 5x as much food for the same price. Anyway. After waiting 20 minutes, I see them bag the bagel... not to give it to me, but to let it cool down while they eventually start making the smoothie I ordered. The smoothies are advertised as being "real fruit," but are definitely just syrup and ice. I try not to waste food but it was unpalatable. First came to Richmond Beach Coffee pre-Yelp (before Yelp existed). It was with a friend and each of our mom. They sat at one table and we sat at another. I went with a fruit tart, which was delicious. The crust crumbly, the yogurt/filling not too tart, and the fruit fresh. I also had an interview here for my first contracted job, which I started at 14 years of age as a cleaner for the nearby Innis Arden pool. The coffee shop is a handy place to stop for coffee and/or a snack not far from the house. The free wifi (wi-fi) has been nice when the connection at the house is spotty and I need to get work done online. read more

The husband and wife team have done an amazing job keeping their facility clean at all times and making great food and coffee drinks! I have been coming here since my child was little. They were always so patient with my kiddo and always had books for her to read and a variety of toys for the kiddos to play with. My go-to here is a veggie wrap and a house special coffee. The house special is a dulche de leche latte which I order half sweet and with oatmilk. I've also tried various other food items here which are all seemingly made in house and delicious - the egg salad sandwich, breakfast wrap, etc are all yum! I find the prices here pretty reasonable and I am always satisfied with the portions. It's also convenient that there's a drive-thru window you can pull up to, but I often find myself just walking in because there typically isn't a wait. The only thing holding me back from a five star review is consistency. I'll sometimes get regular milk by accident in my coffee or my food will be slightly cold in the middle (I'm assuming the wraps are pre-made, frozen/refrigerated, then heated up to order). I'm sure they'd be more than accommodating and get me a new drink or food if I said something, but it's inconvenient when I'm grabbing something to-go and I've already left the establishment. I like that Richmond Beach Coffee House is a family run indie cafe, use Stumptown beans, has WiFi, tiny play area for the kiddos, and clearly an inviting neighborhood spot with a variety of seating options. There's the WiFi crowd, but also readers holding actual books, and folks having actual interactive convos. Could use better piped in music vs department store / dental office muzak. But all's good and chill. Food wise they have sandwiches, crepes, and baked goods...even of the vegan variety. Smells good this visit, like something fresh from the oven. Beverages available include milk teas, smoothies, juices, soda and espresso. I can only speak to their 20 oz mochas served in a gigantic ceramic mug...delicious! Perfect balance of coffee, steamed milk, and espresso. Not weak, bland, tepid, or cloying. No fancy latte art or whipped cream. Just stand alone assertive mocha. Nice and consistent on these two occasions. The Homie enjoyed the iced milk tea with a creamy finish. Off the beaten path, but located on the way to/from Richmond Beach Saltwater Park or the public library. Worth the stop! read more

Loved this place for years, even though I moved out of the neighborhood in 06--I keep coming back. There's a drive-through, and there's plenty of parking. They're both a to-go coffee place and a great place to hang out, which is really nice to see in an independent. They tend to hire cute, friendly kids to work the counters, and they know how to make coffee. They use good beans and chocolate and they have a ton of different choices on the menu. You can sit at window counters, sturdy coffee tables, cutesy princess-y coffee tables, or big overstuffed couches. It's very homey whether you're here to warm up, visit, read, or use your laptop. Really can't say enough good things about this place, and I will always keep coming back, especially with such a fantastic park just around the corner. read more

There's something about a down to earth cafe by the beach, and this one is a winner. Whether it's the classical music, the warm colors, the abundance of natural light, RBCC makes return visits an easy decision. They do savory crepes and wraps, bagels and other baked goods. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but they have that, bubble tea, and free ice water. I read that they have new owners and Mgmt as well and I think once the new owners have a few more months hopefully they'll smile more and look less stressed because they've come across a real Shoreline treasure here. read more

Growing up in Shoreline, I have been coming to this place sporadically for the last, oh, 8 years or so. I have seen this place pass through many owners, and while I didn't really pay much attention to drink quality when I was a teen, I can say that this place is every bit as charming as it was back when it was under ownership by locals. I was delighted to learn that it is now owned by the same company that owns Bubbles on Alki, and ventured to find out if their chai lattes were anywhere near as good. They did not disappoint, and the half roasted turkey pesto panini I had with my chai latte was so delicious, I almost regretted not ordering a whole one. The current owners have done a good job of not changing the decor up too much, preserving memories of hanging out here as a high school freshman, thinking I was so cool for drinking non-chain coffee for the first time. This coffee shop has it all! Amazing European-style coffee made by Barista's who know their stuff. I've watched them pull perfect shots oozing with crema time after time. This is the real deal. No short cuts on their organic fair-trade beans. What's equally great about RBCC (as locals know it) is their food selection. They serve top quality Panini's using - yet again - all organic products. They use Beecher's Cheese. What's not to love about that? Make mine a No Woman Roast Beef with a cup of soup - Ya, Mon. And their pastry selection rocks! I'm not all that into sweets, but sometimes they call out to me and I can't resist. Like the whole-wheat pecan sticky buns - OMG! These are not those lousy muffins from any convenience store - they're real, hand-made from Sisters Bakery - pastries. For me, RBCC is a destination coffee shop. I go there to languish, read, veg. Others frequent the drive-thru, some sit, consume and run, while others meet at the same table with their neighbors every day. The staff is equally kind and friendly to the regulars as they are to everyone - and everyone includes our K-9 friends as well as some special needs customers. We're all on equal footing at RBCC. They're really into their community and display art by local students. Last time there were paintings on display and now they're sporting the work of the local high school photography club on their fresh red and yellow walls. Tomorrow is Saturday. I can't wait to flop down on the comfy leather couch, siphon the orgasmic coffee, and take in the ambiance with a sticky bun. Pillow, here I come! read more

I really wanted to like this cafe - it is walking distance from our new home. But to quote another reviewer "meh." Not so much. And the last two times I went in, they got my crepe order wrong. (Strawberries and cream - no Nutella) Today there were 4 people on staff and the fellow who took my order for a panini got distracted (hanging pictures) and apparently forgot about it and burned it. He then told me it was the last panini they had (made in advance?) and that it would take awhile to make a new one. And so...I waited....35 min (total) for a panini. And it had one slice of ham and one slice of cheese. So basically I had slightly flavored toast. Yay. Oh! And beware the tuna melt! It is made with a ton of sweet relish - and perhaps a tablespoon of tuna. Despite the convenience of location, alas, I will not be a "regular" at this place. 4x and I'm done. read more

I am a fan of Richmond Beach Coffee. The building is fun and cute and there are lots of options for drinks, food, and treats including crepes and smoothies. There is plenty of seating and the employees are friendly and not one bit snooty. They also serve Mighty Leaf Tea! Last time I went I had a soy vanilla latte and the Italian Panini. Both were very good although the panini had a lot of bread for my preference. Just take off one piece of bread and problem solved! They offer a wide variety of paninis, sandwiches, and crepes and they have soup and salad and some snacks. They also serve wine and beer. Today a windstorm knocked our power out so we drive down to pick up our latte at RBCC. Previously the staff were young kids eager to please and conscientious. Today, those staff were all gone, and the replacements were older and barely able to speak English. My wife asked for a vanilla latte. When they gave it to her, she asked for a straw and they gave her a stir stick. We drove away, and the latte was lukewarm, and no vanilla. We drove back and asked tried to explain the problem ... and it was like a Saturday Night Live episode trying to speak to the clerk. Did this place change ownership? Why the change from incredibly good service to incredibly bad? The product goes from dependably good latte to bad? I hate to think those new owners put much money into the purchase, because this place is going to fail. Sad. Having said all of this, buyer beware ... RBCC isn't what it used to be. read more

If you're looking for a down to earth neighborhood cafe, look no further. I love coming here for their crepes and beverages. The owners are always very kind, and the atmosphere is warm and homey. Service is slower than most contemporary coffee shops (who have a line of baristas waiting to work on your order), but is understandable for a "mom and pop" operation like this with limited staffing. And last but not least, the proximity to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park makes it the perfect stop pre or post beach adventure. read more

Just like the rest of you, I'm really writing this to let go of some steam. Loved the soy lattes served in pretty mugs. Love the free wi-fi. I'm digging the ample and variety of seating options. But, baristas, you do not need to be so screechy. My sister and I came in to do some work and were looking forward to a productive afternoon. Other than a bit of wonky wi-fi that resolved itself, we realized that the baristas were the ones causing the most ruckus, caring less about the ambience of the establishment, but more about how loud one could be over the other. I now know more about their personal lives than I ever care. Maybe if another patron has more balls than me, you can approach the baristas and ask them to shoveasockinit, but as a passive-aggressive Northwesterner, I choose to passive-aggressively post on Yelp. read more

This place is the Jewel Box Cafe's sister cafe in Shoreline. I like it because it's never crowded (where the JB is ALWAYS crowded), yet it has almost an identical menu. It's worth the extra driving to get here if I just want to work in peace and quiet while enjoying a bubble tea or crepe. Plus, I like that the rewards system is done via computer here, because my stamp card got lost immediately after I started it at the Jewel Box and that sucks! I wish the owners would get the computerized rewards system working between all of their cafes, so no matter where I went, if I hit my tenth drink, I could redeem my free one on the spot. But, in the meantime, I'll keep frequenting RBCC because I much prefer the ambience. But "shhh"-- don't tell anyone! I don't want this place to be crowded the next time I go! ;) read more

The other morning I craved coffee creamed with a hip college radio vibe. Remembering copesetic visits to RBCC, I headed to that home of painted, pierced and personable baristas. I did not find what I was looking for. Like big-boobed Bavarian Köbessen bending down to trade treats for cash from Good Humor trucks, the welcome sight didn't feel right: behind the counter a middle-aged Asian man minded the grounds, on the customers' couch an unattended preschooler caught some z's, through the front door and into the back ducked an off-duty member of the extended family, a flat screen TV reported the news, a stingy paper towel dispenser dispensed three-inch scraps, echoes echoed in the emptiness. A quick Yelp-check revealed a change of ownership since my last visit. (And, curiously, a recent positive Yelp review read like one of those disjointed and often funny assembly instructions disfigured by ESL at the hand of some foreign factory worker.) The café au lait was flavorful but I missed old RBCC's amiable bedside manner. I downed my joe and left. read more
