When you think about a consummate professional; someone so good at their trade who is an ease and a pleasure to work with, you're thinking of this guy. My wife secured his work within a few days after reading the reviews on Yelp. He came over on a Saturday, replaced or fixed 6 different locks with 2 different keysets - for less than most locksmiths will do one lock. What set his work apart for me was his attention to detail. He fixed two of our old gate locks that had been bothering us for years, without being asked and without even mentioning it. Now the gates lock with ease. He etched a simple "g" on all the gate keys. You wish he did more than locks so you could use him for everything. This dude really deserves all the 5 stars. . read more

Mor was one of the first people to respond to me when I put in my request to have my car key programmed. They were by far the most cost-effective option. When I showed up, they had the car key programmed within about five minutes. Highly recommend. read more

Very quick service! Got me back into my home after I had locked myself out. Would highly recommend them!

I called these people before the whole Virus thing started and left multiple messages for them to call me and never got one call back. Ron used to be the owner, but he no longer works here anymore. When he was around this was the best locksmith in town. When I did get a call back they begged me to remove the bad review. read more

Being new to town and moving into a new house, I needed it re-keyed. I had a bad experience in New Orleans with a locksmith, and not knowing anyone here to get a word-of-mouth recommendation, I of course went to Yelp where I found Ron's Richmond Ave Locksmith. This is basically a one-man operation: you get Ron, the man himself, to come out to your place. I found him very personable and knowledgeable. (All of my tools were in the moving van, so Ron even loaned me a hex screwdriver to put my Texas plates on my car!) I basically needed all the door locks switched. On the phone consult prior to his visit, he recommended that some hardware be replaced. His advice was for me to go to Lowe's/Home Depot and pick out the style I wanted beforehand and buy it. I was able to get what I wanted that way, and he installed them. Having the parts on hand did make it easier and quicker for him to install. However, he could have brought his own hardware and perhaps charged a mark-up but clearly his focus is on the customer being happy. He was on-time, quick, and efficient. He was able to troubleshoot a problem that another locksmith might have had to "come back later" for. He also gave me advice on several other lock/security features which not only has made me feel more secure but has made my life easier. And no, I'm not going to tell you what those are! Just so you could break into my house more easily? I'll let you be surprised. read more

This is a small business and Ron is both the owner and the locksmith who does all the work. In rekeying our new house, I did research on Angie's List and called the two highest-rated locksmiths in Houston. The company that was actually rated #1 estimated a higher price than Richmond Ave and gave me little to no advice. They simply gave me a price for exactly what I requested, without seeking further details about what I wanted to accomplish, the color locks I wanted, etc. By comparison, Ron gave honest and complete advice on all of our different options for keys, locks and doorknobs, as well as the implications all of these would have on home security. Just the key (!) for people like me who know nothing about locks. I found Ron to have a high level of customer service, knowledge, and integrity. And did I mention he also gave me the best price? What a deal. read more

A friend of mine recommended Ron, so I went ahead and contacted him, I needed the lock of our home to be fixed. Ron arrived exactly at the time we agreed, started to work on the problem immediately, was able to explain to me what was wrong and how he was planning to fix it. Overall great experience, will definitely use him in the future if needed. PS: He was nice to me, and our puppy loved him. read more

I used Yelp to research the inner loop locksmiths, then used the BBB site to review the highest-rated businesses. After that, I called around for phone estimates. This site was not on BBB. However, Ron, the owner of this small business answered the phone, explained how I could research him and others on the DPS site, and advised me to text him 2 photos of each of my locks. After I did that, he spent almost 30 min on the phone explaining his recommendations and scheduling an appointment for the following day. At the actual appointment with my partner as I was away, he spent about an hour fixing our locks - including one on a pair of French doors that was no longer fitting properly because one door was higher than the other, which now works smoothly - and chatting about his recommendations and reasoning. The locks he brought with him matched our current styles very well. I could not have been happier with the service I received and his prices were very reasonable. I would call him again in a heartbeat. Support his small, local business! read more

Like previous folks, I used Yelp to find this place and was very happy with the results. Ron came over, fixed my problem, charged me a very reasonable fee. Ron was great! I booked him a couple weeks in advance. He called to confirm and showed up on time. I needed locks rekeyed. When he arrived he found that one of the door knob locks would be difficult to rekey since I didn't have a working key for it. But he was able to rekey it with no extra charge!! He was the most reasonably priced locksmith I found and I received excellent service. Will def use him again and will refer him to others! read more

Called ahead of time to ensure they have a store front. I get there within 5 minutes and nobody is there (it's 1150am). I called him again reminding him I'm the person that JUST called and he said that he's on a service call and he's not there and won't be back till 1pm. It would have been nice to know that when I first called. Come on now. read more

Ron answered the phone, gave me an appointment and called to update me on possible delays, saved my bike lock (whew!), and gave me good advice on how to secure my bike with less-flimsy keys and locks. He was friendly, respectful, professional, and fast. Also, he charged slightly less than the other shady-sounding weirdos who answered at other locksmith numbers, and didn't change the quote at the last minute like another un-named locksmith did. read more

You know that awful feeling when a door closes and you immediately realize your keys are inside? Yep - that is what I did. My house keys and back up keys were locked in my house and I was stranded in the garage with a 4 year old on a horribly wet, rainy day.
