Called to get a quote for the installation of a wide angle peephole door viewer. The receptionist took down my contact information and told me that a tech would contact me back within the hour. Within that hour as promised, I received a phone call from Ron, who quoted me a very reasonable price compared to a quote that I received from another company. He showed up on time and because he had the right tools, he was very quick and the job was completed within 15 to 20 minutes tops! I'm giving 4 stars because the itchy fiberglass insulation and some metal piece from the door was left on the front porch. Other than that, I'm pleased with this business. read more

I needed a new key so that I can utilize functions like remote start. I should have known not to go through with it because the "technician" they sent cam with his own vehicle and not uniform, with tools in the back of his SUV. So he makes the key and leaves. But them I realize the car does not recognize it. I call him. After 1 hour of wasting my time, he tells me I need an OEM key. What's the point of a locksmith existing if I need to go to the dealer for a new key? Lol. So I decide to demand a refund. It takes forever and a day to get it because the owner thinks he's too good to reach out to customers to solve issues. He did not contact me until AFTER I left a review on google and even then, he was only talking to the technician and not me. So later he calls and tells me he will give my money back if i take off the review. Why would i do that when not only are your services janky but your employees are extremely rude over the phone. STAY AWAY from this company. Hired to install panic bars and from the start the panic bars were poorly installed and kept falling off. When called to honor the warranty, their response time was unresponsive, Ron would seldom return my calls or give me false dates as to when someone would correct the problems. Company initially did a good job with the installation. We have had some issues with the quality of the lock and have had 2 repairs for it jamming. Called a few times and eventually someone was able to come out and help. However, the dispatch center was not great. I had to call several times to get a repair completed and complete payment of the invoice. In the end it got taken care of. I do have to say the last time we had someone come out to fix the jamming issue (the door would not open from the inside) the 2 guys who came out were extremely helpful and kind. Locked myself out of my car, called 3 locksmiths in town, and Ron was the first to call back. He was upfront immediately and warned me about other locksmiths. He told me the exact price and kept his word. The others were trying to make more money. One guy sounded like a straight-up scammer and only quoted me the service fee. He refused to offer a solid price and told me his max price was $150. The other offered a fixed price but it was $20 more and wouldn't reduce his price. So be careful if you look for quotes. And reading reviews helped immensely. Alamo is definitely trustworthy and I would use them again. read more

I locked my self out of house luckily had my iPhone. I read reviews and called for a price which was reasonable and included every not just a trip charge. Francisco gave me a time and called then texted updates. He came got me in replaced locks to match key which was inside. He was courteous, did good work and made it a positive experience leaving me satisfied with the work and. Having had this happen before. Would NOT recommend!!! Call the guy scheduled a time to come. He stood me up, I called spoke to a lady about the situation. She asked what I need, asked for my number and stated someone would return my call. Needless to say I waited 2 days and No call. If you didn't want to make money just say that. I contracted Alamo to rekey all my locks less than 3 years ago. All the locks now have turned stiff and break keys on monthly bases. None of my houses' locks show this type of behavior - other houses only the ones that Alamo serviced! Very suspect quality Response to Ron ( Business Owner) - No- Less than 3 years ago... They said "NO PROBLEM" and proceeded to chrge me $450.00 for a $67.00 cheap Kwikset handle and lock. He did offer to key it for free! Geez buyer beware (especially if you want something done the same day! Outrageous. Look these people are SHADY. The owner is the one who suggested would refunding me for the removal of the bad review (which admittingly I should not have accepted.). On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, I contacted Alamo Key & Lock to come to my home to repair a door latch that was stuck in my garage entrance. The technician arrived and took a look at the door and said he could repair it. Because my home has only two entrances--one through the door located at the front of the house, and the other located via the garage which is the one used on a daily basis, it was imperative that the latch be repaired. I agreed to the repair, and the door knob and latch was replaced in about 15 minutes at a cost of $335.00 ($85.00 for the latch and door knob, and $250 for labor)! Once the tech left, I contacted Alamo Key & Lock to speak with the owner/manager just to discuss why the labor cost was so high. The person I spoke with (Ron) seemed surprised that the charge was so high, and asked that I send him a picture of the door knob and receipt, which I did via text. To my surprise, I received a response saying that this was not his company. Once I viewed the receipt, it did not have Alamo Key and Lock displayed--it was just a general receipt that showed "Locksmith Services". I then sent a copy of the Zelle receipt, and was told again that this was not his company. I then contacted Ron again to ask how could this not be his company if the only person I contacted and spoke with on the phone the day of service was a lady named Sabrina who sent the tech, and the tech named Alex. I also indicated my concern that his company would send someone to my home that was not a rep of his company. As a follow-up, I have contacted this company everyday since October 4 (speaking to a different person every time--Sabrina, Chris, Ernesto, Valerie, Keny, etc.) just asking to have a discussion about what occurred, but have not received a response. Just want anyone who is planning to contact this company to please be aware and cautious, as I do not believe the company is as "honest" as they have indicated on their website. I was scammed by Alamo Key & Lock. I know this to be true because they did something that did not make sense: After jiggling one tool in my new three-month-old doorknob for a few minutes, the technician pronounced it unopenable and said he had to drill it out. I had my doubts about this, but I had no choice because I urgently had to leave for work. He then proceeded to replace it with THE EXACT SAME DOORKNOB. He even specifically told me it was the same one. So... why on earth would he not have been able to open the same run-of-the-mill doorknob that he carried in stock?! In the few days since this incident, several mechanically inclined friends and coworkers have insisted that it was laziness, or very poor skills, or the goal of making more money from me. I was quoted $75 (15 for service call, 60 for labor) over the phone, and what I ended up paying was $194 (15 for service call, 95 for drilling out the doorknob, 69 (yes, 69!) for the doorknob, and tax). My technician's name may have been Ben, or Eidan, or some similar-sounding name, but I'm not sure, despite the fact that I asked several times. When I called a few minutes ago to make sure my information was correct, they were very beat-around-the-bush and their voices became very muffled, accusing me of "hiding something" when I would not express my complaint without first being sure of who I was complaining about. Pretty sure I'm not the one with something to hide, Alamo Key & Lock! After the roundabout and frustrating conversation I just had, the man I spoke with over the phone said that within a couple of hours they will have a supervisor call me. I will update this review in the future with whatever they did to resolve this situation and/or any further action I took. In the mean time, I would suggest you try your luck elsewhere. The price they quoted me was $15 for the service call and $35 per hour, with the assurance that our simple lock could be opened in less than 20 minutes. The technician that came out said that it was $15 and that the service, that took less than 10 minutes, would cost $79! When I told him about the quote, he was very embarrassed and had Alamo call me. The man I spoke with was completely unremorseful and uninterested in making things right. There are countless lock and key services that are surely more ethical than Alamo - call them because from other reviews that I've read here, this company is not above board. This guy not only installed my lock backwards but refused to come back & fix it. But when the owner finally became aware of the problem, he was prompt in coming out & fixing my lock. Got locked out my car a few days ago (2/10/2017). I made the rounds to obtain quotes and Alamo was the most reasonably priced out of the 3 (cheaper than the 2nd by $15). My tech, Albert, arrived within 25 minutes (with Friday 6pm traffic at that) and was done in minutes. I didn't have exact cash and he didn't have change, so he offered to follow me to the nearest gas station and waited patiently for me. Albert was polite and his work swift.
