Another 5 star review! So easy to set up appt and he was on time. Estimate was accurate. I just requested to have two sets of doors to be keyed the same so that was extra. It was 1 hour for $108.25 and he also disposed of my old Keysets. Highly recommended for any key needs! He was just so popular he wasn't able to make more keys today. Highly recommended. I really like him! read more

Great service and honest. I have done business with Reeds for several years and they have consistently been excellent.

Extremely knowledgeable. Knew how to repair a Baldwin, double-keyed, thumb-latch, mortice lockset.

One of the doors in our guest room was not closing . The service technician came promptly and fixed the door very quickly . I highly recommend this service . read more

If you're looking to rekey a lock, lock no further. I requested a quote from Yelp to have several locks rekeyed and the owner of Reed's Key Shop, Jamie, responded quickly with the cost to come out and the cost per lock. Jamie arrived on time and was ready to work immediately. While rekeying, Jamie even explained how the mechanism of the locks worked - it was really neat! He was extremely nice and remained professional the entire time. And he did a fantastic job for a great price! He thoroughly checked all my locks and knobs and went above and beyond what was expecting - he noticed one of our knobs was acting janky so he wiggles and jiggled and fixed it on the spot for no extra charge. I HIGHLY recommend Jamie for any of your rekey services! He was a pleasure to work with and I will definitely be calling him for any key needs again. read more

Highly recommend, they were upfront and transparent about pricing, while also being very affordable.

Jamie Reed is a gem of a locksmith. Old school but still with the times and supremely reasonable in his billing practices. I had a lot of old work to go with some new work - keys needed for old mortise locks and some old hardware in need of repair or replacement. Jamie worked patiently in an unhurried manner to deliver enormous value to me. I will definitely call on Jamie again and I know I am far from finished with all the locks in my old house so let me tell you how happy I am to know he's available for housecalls. read more

Excellent service. Punctual and courteous. Hard to find professionals like Reed's key shop. I would not hesitate to use their services again. Highly recommended. Thank you for coming out in the evening just to fix a mailbox. It's so rare to find someone willing to work around my schedule instead of the other way around. Worked tirelessly outside i. 90+ degree summer heat. Didn't ask for anything extra. Pricing was extremely reasonable considered the work and the speediness of service. If you have a busy life and needed someone you can trust Reed's Key Ship is the choice for you. Also they were extremely quick in responding to request on Yelp, I message late at night and got a response that evening. What a gem of a company. Please ring them up with your request and you will not regret it. read more

They did an awesome job. Responded quickly through the app. Showed up on time, did a great job and charged a fair price. Will definitely use them again for our next key needs. read more

I had high hopes for this. I called last week when my key broke to get my fob replaced. The man on the phone said he'd do it as long as I brought the parts. I bought 2 called on Monday to make an appointment per his request. I had an appointment set for Tuesday at 9:30. I called to say I was running late and he said he was too but he'd call me when he was in town. I awaited his call and nothing. I called again at around noon and left a message and I STILL haven't gotten any type of response. I wouldn't even mind if he had said that he wasn't interested in doing it anymore but to avoid or ignore me when I was 100% willing to pay is ridiculous. I'll be going in person to see if I can actually talk to someone and hopefully change the review UPDATE: Wow oh boy I wish I could remove even that one star. My mom went to see him and he brought up that I left this review. Instead of, you know doing something to fix it. He no calls and no shows an appointment my mom made for that Saturday Here's a tip for you, if you want good reviews maybe provide better service? It's not that hard. read more

Came out same day to fix the lock on my gate. Super reasonable pricing. Hire with confidence.

Reed's Key Shop is a humble little shop in the Montrose neighborhood, situated on the Commonwealth "curve" (it'll be on your right side, since the street runs one way). I managed to forget my keys in another city, and didn't realize this until I was already seated on the plane. I'm brilliant like that. Luckily, it wasn't catastrophic, so I was able to preamble ( I forgot my car keys too) to Reed's the next day to order some spares. The shop is a small, cramped place, with barely enough room to position your arms akimbo to do a chicken dance, but from the looks of their packed to the ceiling shop, you can hand them just about any type of key or lock and they can take care of you. The day I was there, I believe it was the patriarch and one of his sons at the helm. They were charmingly hospitable and reminded me of just why and how much I love my neighborhood. If you live in Montrose: Southland for hardware stuffs, Reed's for keys.* *That is, until they transplanted themselves to the Heights! Montrose's loss, Height's gain. Sad face. read more

I was on my way to one of the home improvement stores to have keys made when I saw this place. It is simply a place to get keys made, and they sell locks and other key related paraphernalia as well. We were immediately helped, and had our keys and were out the door in less than 10 minutes. The whole thing only cost a few dollars. If will definitely go back here for all of my key related needs. read more

I needed 8 keys made this morning. I yelped key shops and decided to try this one based on reviews. The guy was super polite and quick. He also made sure to keep them separated the way I had handed them to him. I was out of there in less than 10 mins. Also, they have tons of neat stuff and decorative keys to choose from. Great prices, as well! Will be going back in the future. read more

I love this place. Got my keys made by Walmart and they didn't even work. Came here after reading some Yelp reviews, and wow, best decision ever. I came in around 4:30pm (30 minutes before closing). Walked in. Keys were made within 30 seconds. It was magical. I made two copies for $2. Goodbye, Walmart. Hello, Reed's! Also, the owner is so nice. I wish the best to him :) read more

So, I bought my own rekeying kit and disassembled my lock from the door per the instructions. Well, things were going fine until my wife's somewhat grumpy morning attitude made me lose focus and bam! I pushed something too hard and parts when flying all over the place. And these were small parts that practically require a magnifying glass to find. Even after finding all the parts, my lock was disassembled to the point of no return... Here's where Reed's Key Shop came to the rescue! I called the shop and explained the situation. As soon as I told him that I tried rekeying the lock myself, he immediately said "so you need me to put it back together for you?" Heh. So I went to the shop with a bag of parts and 10 minutes later he had everything done! He even rekeyed the lock for my new key! All this at a super reasonable price (between $5 to $10, I don't remember exactly). Thanks Reed's Key Shop! read more

Great service. On time. Best Locksmith I have ever used. Very nice and professional gentleman.

Best locksmith / key shop ever. I've been going to Reed Key Shop for about 15 years as they've moved locations twice. I used to own a rental property so I needed a good dependable locksmith regularly, and I've always gone to them since. Mr. Reed is extremely knowledgeable and professional, very honest and fair - just like his father was when he ran the shop before. I won't go anywhere else for lock/key work. I usually take locks in to him to get re-keyed and get keys cut, but he'll come out if needed too. His prices have always been lower than other locksmiths, and I have complete trust in his service. When I've called other locksmiths before, I never got a good feeling about having them come out to my house and work on my locks. read more

Jamie arrived promptly as scheduled and provided excellent services at very reasonable cost. He is so good that we not only highly recommend his business but also added him to our contacts for future service. read more

I recently had trouble with my truck tailgate lock and went to the nearest locksmith I could find, Reed's Key Shop. When I told the owner of the shop my issue he grabbed his can of WD-40 and came outside to help me. Although we weren't able to get my tailgate unlocked, he offered advice and let me work on the issue in his lot. As I was taking apart my tailgate another employee stopped over to see if he could help despite the owner's previous efforts. He must've had the magical touch because he was able to unlock the tailgate with no issues. He sprayed the lock and cables with WD-40 and recommended that I go to the Ford dealership as it is not a key issue, but a lock/cable issue. All of this occurred on a relatively hot, sweaty day in Houston where they had no problem leaving their A/C to help me. O, and they didn't charge me a thing. read more

All around excellent experience, quick turnaround and reasonable price for rekeying my new home. Thank you so much!

Very responsive. On time and performed quality work for agreed upon price. Exactly what I was looking for.

Jamie is awesome. My locksmith of 20 years retired and a neighbor recommended I give Reed's a try. Jamie was super quick to respond, showed up on time, knew his trade and didn't break the bank. He was fair and gave solid advice on a tricky older lock that needed attention. He works fast and is very easy to do business with. I highly recommend him read more

Convenient, fast, locally owned locksmith in The Heights. I found the owner to be very friendly and he was able to quickly rekey 2 locks and make several copies within a few minutes. He's also very reasonable with his rates... which begs the question of why you would want some random person or automated machine to make copies at one of the big chains when you can have a local locksmith hand copy keys in a matter of seconds (my copies were perfect). What really sold me was what seemed to be regulars coming in to get copies made. read more
