I bought a keychain on a cruise recently. I had a hard time putting my car key on the key ring. I brought it to Home Depot and the key guy tried and tried. He couldn't do it either. He recommended Richard's Hardware. I am really glad he did because I was never aware of this business. I liked the sign on their front door saying they are awesome. It gave a good impression. It turned out to be true. Jeanine greeted me with a huge smile. I told her my story and she asked Dale if he could help. I looked around for maybe 90 seconds and he already put the key on. It was really amazing. I wanted to make a purchase but really couldn't find anything I needed. It didn't matter. They were just happy to help. I highly recommend Richard's for those hard to find things the big box stores don't carry. Which is hardware store is amazing place because this what it used to be before the big place is open they give you service if you need help they're right there for you. If you need anything they're very helpful. This service is amazing. I remember it was one time when I needed part, no one else had it and I showed it to him. Customer service is hard to come by these days, however it is alive and well here at Richard's Hardware. My Dad has been a loyal customer here for years and has always had nothing but good things to say about this store and it's staff. Today, I popped in for my first time ever and was pleased by the overall "feel" of the store. The gentleman who cashed me out was so friendly and sincere. He gave me some advice on the item I bought and did it all with a smile. The store has all kinds of hardware, tools, plumbing equipment etc. and they also make keys. I don't give many 5-star reviews, but Richard's Hardware deserves it. Home Depot and Lowes have pulled every dirty trick in the book to close these places down. Somehow, this one survives. They have almost everything you need at 2% the size. You walk in, take four steps, and BAM there's the thing you need. If you want help, there's the help right there - will help you get exactly what you need. Home Depot has gotten so awful since they killed all competition, and didn't need to satisfy their customers anymore, now when you walk in they just say "Don't steal anything you thief!" Lowes is better, but they've been boxed out of the most convenient locations. I was at Richards last Friday - bought screen, lithium grease, command strips, a dog collar, and it came to $28. That would never happen in Home Depot. You'd have to buy 50 feet of screen for $30, a two-pack of lithium grease for $16, and the dog collar? You'd have to make that machine run yourself; and it is probably broken. Here at Richard's, the guys right there - like - sure I'll engrave this for you. My message to Richard's? Raise your prices if you need to. Keep your business vital. You are the cornerstone of consumer's not getting screwed. Thank you! read more

It was refreshing when I walked into the store, the cashier near the front door greeted me in a friendly manner. You could tell she didn't mind doing it. The store is small, not a big box store, but it was well stocked. I prefer a place like this to a Lowes or Home Depot. You do a lot of walking in those big stores and usually have to wait at the cashier. At Richard's I got a key cut. The whole process took like two minutes. You will never do that at the big box stores. Since it was so quick I looked around since it was my first time there and was impressed. Their fastener section is very impressive. My dad visited multiple big name auto-part stores like Home Depot, Lowe's, AutoZone, Napa Auto-parts, and Pep-boys and none of them had a metric bolt in the size that he needed it. Richards not only had the bolt but they had it in a selection of sizes! He walked in and the staff was able to find what he needed in less than 10 minutes. After being greeted at the door, I was directed to the back of the store for a piece of strap metal for an A/C filter box. When I asked an older gentleman where I could find this, he showed me a rack with threaded rods. When I asked him again and explained guy at front door directed me back, he told me to go F*** off. My brother and I visited Richard's today to try to come up with a fix for the inside driver's door panel for our mom's old VW Beetle. The inside door handle was failing and it looked like we would have to replace the panel for at least $275 to make it work right. With Jeff, the owner's great service and advice, we were able to find just the right size machine screws to come up with an effective fix - for 3 bucks!! There's nothing like a good old fashioned hardware store, and this one is one of the best! You don't find many these days in the era of the big chains, but Richard's truly stands out. Not only is the customer service great and extremely helpful, but they often have some of the more obscure parts you can't find elsewhere. Broward residents who want to RE-SCREEN while saving a lot of bucks... bring your own Screen door to them , leave for three days and Voila! there you have a new screen door and rollers for $85!!! This small place contains many fixes inside, just ask them for the "it" thing or the alternative. Very laid back service, be patient and wait for your turn. read more

I cannot say enough about this business, or about the customer service they offer. With Hurricane Irma knocking on our door, we realized we were out of a couple of essential items. I approached the door, as did 2 other customers, as they were closing the door to lock up and go home to prepare themselves. They let all 3 of us in and spent so much time, as usual with each of us, finding substitutes for what they didn't have or recommendations where we could go possibly get them. They never rushed us out the door and helped with a smile. Their knowledgeable staff can assist with time or money saving ideas for almost any project. Hi. I don't usually do this, but I believe that my trust and initiative of always helping the small business is disappearing. I have been going to this hardware store for a year now. Is small, convenient and not too expensive. The times that I visited this store in the past year is not less than 20, and always found that the guy in the front of the store has been very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, my last visit to this place was due to the inconsiderate owner. First of all when I greet how are u doing and his response was that he was tired. Too bad. Then I explain what I needed from his store. He wanted from me the most minuscule detail of what I was doing, I tried to explain that I was in need of some screws to hold a small sign in a concrete wall. Then he ask if I had it with me. No, I reply. He put this face, like suggesting that it was a bad move no to bring it. I knew where this was going, so to cut to the chase I pick something from the counter which had almost the same width and told him that it was like I wanted to hold that specific item in the wall. OH well, He look at me again, with this unique face of complete misunderstanding and asked me why I didn't brought the sign with me. I didn't see the necessity of doing that, but, then again I rely on the good judgment of the front staff who were always helpful. Anyway, he then wanted to know what I do for a living, in a kind of way of telling that he need the most information as possible to serve me the best. From there on, it was completely rude and unprofessional. Even a lady who helped me once or twice was kind of indignant with the whole situation. As a small business owner myself, I try to help as much as possible going to the small local community business. It was very sad that after a year of going to this place, finally had the bad fortune of dealing with the owner to get such a bad experience. My suggestion to those who need to get something from this place is that you should, but if the person who is going to help you is a fat four eyes kind of a midget, then walk around and get someone else. read more

Richard's is the quintessential neighborhood hardware store, where the owner's family can often be found manning the front counter. While certain items can be got cheaper at Home Depot, the incredible home improvement advice I've gotten there has saved me a heckuva lot more than I would have spent in trial and error at an impersonal big box hardware store. Also, they use a lot of South Florida distributors for their stock, so you're helping support the local economy a bit more. Lastly, they've got solid prices on pool chlorine here, so I've usually a got a few empty yellow jugs in my car when I go. read more
