Everything about today's appointment was smooth, from the nice woman I talked with when I scheduled, to being seen punctually at my appointment time, to the office manager submitting to insurance and being clear how much insurance would cover. The array of machines used to test eyes are state of the art. The friendly practitioner who operated the machines wiped them down with disinfectant right before I put my chin or eyes against them, which I appreciated. I also am impressed that this office did a retinal scan, which screens for other health problems beyond just how sharp ones vision is. Healthy eyes are important for a happy life! I give a 100% positive recommendation to anyone who needs an eye doctor, to come to Dr. Hanlon!

They were afraid I might try to get contact lenses elsewhere for cheaper price, therefore refused to give me a copy. Again, it is my right to have a copy whether it's expired or not. I came in for a concern about a spot in my eye, and without much explanation, he immediately dismissed it as dirt and attempted to approach my eye with a needle. I was already feeling anxious and lightheaded, so I calmly asked if I could reschedule and bring a support person to help me manage my anxiety during the procedure. Instead of showing understanding or professionalism, he became extremely rude and dismissive. He repeatedly called me a "baby" and mocked my request for support, saying it was unnecessary and "stupid." I explained that I am neurodivergent and that having support is important for me, but he continued to belittle me. He then told me that if I didn't allow him to proceed immediately, he would refuse to see me again and asked me to leave his office. I left feeling humiliated and ended up crying in my car. No patient should be treated this way--especially when they are being open about their mental health needs. This was not only unprofessional, but completely lacking in empathy and basic respect. However, it was after I brought my 4 year old toddler to her recently that prompted me to review her outstanding rapport with young children. My kiddo does not like medical visits of any kind. I thought he was going to be okay going in at first because of all glasses on display that got him curious and interested. But once we sat him near an examination machine and Dr. Ha started asking me questions about him, he knew it was yet another medical examination and started to bawl. Once he starts crying, it's not easy to calm him down. Dr. Ha immediately gave him attention and asked if he wanted to play some games, with numbers and letters. Told him that he will see a balloon inside. Asked if he knows his colors and to tell her the color of the balloon. I'm stunned that she got him to sit still (we're talking 4 year old here) for about 20 minutes for various exams. Highly recommended! On the phone, she said as long as the child knows their alphabet, they are old enough to get an exam with her.

The staff is very professional and friendly. I tried Franklin Eye 2 years ago but decided to go to another place last year. I was not happy with the other place because the prescription provided was not accurate even after getting a 2nd one. I went back to using the original prescription provided by Franklin Eye Care because my eyes felt better. I came back to Franklin this year and was able to get an appointment the same day. I just picked up my new glasses - spectacular ! I also brought in an old pair of frames to upgrade the lenses. The most important thing is that my vision does not feel strained. I can see clearer and sharper now. I am very grateful to Dr Josephine for taking good care of my vision ! I will definitely come back next year.
