I met Dr. Mary Boname nearly a decade ago on Twitter. At the time my eye sight was perfect. But…read morethen I was hospitalized for 4 days with an abcess in the intestines. I was given fluoroquinolones (Cipro and Levaquin) IV. By day 3 I could not see. Everything was blurry. It did not go away. I decided to see Dr. Boname because she was nearby where I was hospitalized. I liked her immediately because she did not try to defend the medical system the way many practitioners do even when they've clearly erred. She said those kinds of fluoroquinolone antibiotics damage the retina. You'll need glasses now. Any time I have met with her or been cared for by her, I have felt that I'm being cared for by family that has a special interest in me. She doesn't just care about the two eyes in our face because she knows many serious conditions show up in the eyes first....diabetes, cardiovascular disease etc. She knows there are no fences in the body and the body is a whole system that works synergistically together. She takes into consideration genetics and their support, what I consider the "laser approach" to personalized medicine. I know I will get the best care from here which is why I have driven from Rhode Island to her office outside of Princeton, NJ for many years.

I am thankful not only for her care for me but as well as my Dad when he needed cataract surgery. Ben - who runs the eyeglass/contact side of the business - is one of the nicest, knowledgeable professionals I have met. He provides quality frames and lenses. He provides clear information about lenses and has a good eye in picking frames to suit your face. I am a bit clumsy and needed frequent adjustment to my frames - to the point I felt guilty coming In so often- but am always reassured it is no problem and come back anytime. This is a first class organization.

It's not a walk in the park and the second time was more harsh than the second and yes there is aftercare -- lots of eye drops! The procedures were about a half hour each. The actual cutting was just a minute or two. It's far more strange than painful. Then it's over. It's only a day or so before you're able to do things again which really isn't bad considering the benefits. However, it's been 3 years now and it still is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Dr. Wasserman is INCREDIBLY kind, steady, patient, and knowledgeable. His staff is quick to remedy any issues that come up. I've been going back for eye checkups there ever since. Office is clean. Wait times are reasonable. Location is perfect. I've sent my friends there for checkups and Lasik consultations and they've had good experiences as well. HIGHLY, highly, highly recommend!

Then proceeded to wait for over an hour in the room for this arrogant dismissive know it all to show up and not even acknowledge how late he was. I went through my 2 biggest concerns one by one and without me even finishing my explanation he told me it was nothing and just wanted to examine my daughter. When she wasn't cooperating (because she's just over a year old and had been waiting for over an hour) he was getting more and more frustrated, stopped the exam, told me nothing was wrong and to try again in 3-4 months the when my daughter was a bit more cooperative. Worst bedside manner I've ever seen from any doctor/medical professional. There are other eye doctors that will actually care about you and your child

The diagnostic tests are state-of-the-art and the customer service procedures are smooth and web-based so that you can get in and out quickly. I completed the online questionnaires in advance, so that the day of my appointment I was brought in immediately and never presented the dreaded clipboard and golf pencil. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Then just pop over to LensCrafters to have your new prescription filled. Glasses ready in just an hour! The doctor and support staff were skilled and personable. Note: the online forms did provide descriptions and pricing of several optional diagnostic tests. There was no pressure to accept or decline these tests.

I scheduled an eye exam for 12pm and was told that no appointments would be honored if I arrived 10 minutes after the appointment... meaning 12:10pm. Sure, no problem. Totally get it. During COVID-19 I'm willing to adhere to whatever policy a business lays out. I was running a bit behind, but breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I had beat the cutoff when I arrived at 12:06pm. Whew! So, as instructed, I called from the parking lot to announce my arrival so they could come out and take my temperature. By the time I finally connected with the receptionist it was 12:08pm. Instead of taking my temp, I was told that I would have to reschedule since I was late. Then I pointed out the time and that it I was, in fact, only eight minutes late, not 10, as their own policy had laid out guaranteeing cancellation. Then she put me on hold, and came back on a minute later saying that they would be happy to reschedule me for tomorrow. I admitted then and admit here that eight minutes is cutting it close, but by no measure of mathematics does 8 = 10. After some unpleasant back and forth, and me restraining as much as possible from using any expletives, the receptionist finally said it was now 12:12pm and there would be no way they could take me today as I was no longer within the 10 minute cutoff anyway and that I could reschedule for tomorrow. Pretty sure my blood actually boiled. Finally I just said I wouldn't be rescheduling since there is no way they will ever get my business. I'll end this by saying any of the other negative reviews on here for Eye Care Associates of Princeton are well deserved.
