We decided to come here for lunch on a recommendation from my gf. The establishment is rather small. More of a take out place. They do have two sets of table with 4 chairs. As we entered, we were greeted by two host/ waitress. They were very friendly and helpful. From the ceiling hangs cute array of colorful origami cranes. The left has a stand refrigerator with displays of a few food items. I saw a couple beautiful salads. I ordered the panko baked salmon. The portion was very good. The salmon was juicy and the flavor was bursting and so oishi. I also like the small garnish of pickled cucumber. My bf said he enjoyed his chicken the chicken was moist and big pieces. They do have two tables that seat four each. Since we were going to have a heavy dinner, we decided to share and eat light . We ordered the Nishime and the Somen salad. Nishime: It had lots of lotus roots and carrots. A couple of pieces of mushrooms. and bamboo shoots. It had no kombu, konnyaku, or araimo. Taste wise, it had a mild shoyu flavor. Got an order to go at this location. Parking is interesting but can get nuts when busy, but we were blessed with a spot that was close to the restaurant. Had the salmon katsu and garlic chicken. I will say I wish we had two orders of the salmon katsu because that was super good. Would recommend this to anyone. Prices were as expected not too bad. Service was fast as I ordered at the front and they allowed me to wait in the restaurant as they have a few tables jus tin case you wanted to eat there. Found this place on Yelp while I was in Mililani and was excited to try bc it was a new business. We ordered the salmon katsu and chicken plate. I had the salmon and it tasted really good. Idk if it's the sauce but it kind of reminds me of Zippy's hoki with tarter sauce lol. But still really good! Only complaint is that the veggies are placed on the rice so it's really warm by the time you try to eat it. The edamame on the rice is fine but the cucumber radish veggie warm wasn't the best for me. Maybe If they put it in a separate container it would be better ? Saw their posting this morning that they were opening today so I had to go check it out since they're right down the road. It wasn't crowded for 12:30 but the cashier said that they didn't really have a huge grand opening announcement. It was on IG. They have a good menu.... Not too much selection but I prefer that because when there's too much to choose from I take too long. I asked him to suggest something and he said the salmon katsu or the dynamite chicken. We had a playdate this past Sunday in Mililani and a friend said she wanted to try this restaurant that recently opened close to her house. Plenty parking in the shopping center. We ordered 4 plates to bring back home. Dynamite chicken, garlic ahi, shoyu pork, and miso eggplant w agedashi tofu. Our kids devoured all the miso eggplant w agedashi tofu and shoyu pork! I was so shocked and happy that all our kids loved this vegan dish. Oh, they also ate all the soybeans and pickled cucumbers in each plate. This was my second visit to Ricebox Cafe since they opened and I didn't want to give them a review the first time I went in case I changed my mind. My first visit, I tried the garlic ahi plate which I did not care for. The ahi was raw in the center (seared) and I can't stand seared fish. I prefer either fully raw or fully cooked fish so I wish they called it "garlic seared ahi." The taste was also just so so. My second visit, I ordered the garlic shrimp and miso eggplant with agedashi tofu plates. The garlic shrimp was pretty good but the shrimps were smaller than a 16/20 size. There were 10 shrimps total, two scoops rice, soy beans, and namasu. The miso eggplant with agedashi tofu plate was delicious. Eggplant was fried perfectly along with the tofu. There's also some choi sum on the side which was good. The miso sauce was excellent! The rice was dry and mushy in some spots so I barely ate any of it. The prices here are quite high, around $15-17 per plate but isn't everywhere else super expensive too? I'd say, give this small business a try! read more

It's awesome living within close proximity to eateries, especially local food kine. I'm glad Rice Box is in Mililani Mauka, and I hope they're doing well enough to stay. I've done takeout a few times and other than one order, haven't been disappointed. I've gotten their yakisoba noodles each time, very good flavor and can't go wrong with bacon inside. Plus the price is good for the amount given. Their chicken katsu is a great choice, I mean, who doesn't love chicken katsu? Even better was their furikake garlic chicken, very tasty! Also very impressive was their salmon katsu, probably one of my faves by them. The aioli topping set it off. The one dish I didn't think was that great was their garlic ahi. It had way too much garlic, and the fish was very bland and too mushy in the middle. It just needed a little more attention maybe, I dunno. Hopefully it was just that one time.
