However, we ordered delivery and the food was so good and hot and perfect to order. I had the baked potato with brisket, butter and sour cream. I also ordered a side of bbq sauce and it was amazing! Truly, it is enormous and could have fed three of us. My son ordered the catfish and it came out so incredibly crispy, even after being packed for delivery. My husband had the rib combo and it was so huge! They were meaty and satisfying and so much left over. My daughter loved the Mac and cheese but the fried okra and fries didn't really travel well. Excited to take my son to eat his first "dinosaur" rib today. Joke was on us, sat for about 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order, he finally did then never brought it. Then ANOTHER person came to take the drink order, finally got it after another 5/10 minutes. Asked for lemons, nope didn't get those either, my wife went up to get them at the bar herself. Waited a little more to place our food order (we did), guess what?! They never put the order in. Finally ANOTHER server asked if we "needed anything " guess they saw the happiness in our faces. We told him what was going on, he went to "check" and were told we were moved to "the front". Why wouldn't we be? We were the first ones in the restaurant. We were done! This was my first visit to the Rib Hut! So this is during the "no dine in" CoVoid 19 time. So I went in to place order. I ordered a sliced beef sandwich with beans as my side. I wasn't real hungry so was planning to eat part of it, then save the rest for lunch the next day. The sandwich was delicious with plenty of meat and good smoke on the brisket. I ate about a third of the sandwich and had plenty for next days lunch. I wasn't real crazy about their beans, but they were pretty decent. But I live in East Texas and we do some serious BBQ back home in Longview, Tx. On a scale of 1-10 I would give Rib Hut a 9.5 on the sandwich and a 6 on the beans. Horrible experience. Everything is doused in one bland BBQ sauce. The spot seems to be a nice place for a meal, yet it seems most of these reviews are outdated. My other two companions got a mixed meat platter, very disappointing to say the least. It comes with turkey(dry, bland, pointless), some sausage(also bland, tastes pre packaged, also pointless), and a meat of your choice. One ordered the toughest driest brisket you could imagine, and the other ordered mediocre baby backs. The best thing they got was mac n cheese, and there is nothing special about it, under par with kraft. Keep in mind there is one Barbecue sauce completely submerging all of this, and it was watery, bland, and like most things, completely pointless. The best tasting thing would probably be my beef ribs, however I could barely eat one without destroying the roof and sides of my mouth. These ribs were tougher then the brisket. Although massive, it was the same bland BBQ sauce, I wasn't able to eat more then 1 and 1/4 because of how hard it was. The baked potato i received was HUGE, however the toppings were only able to cover about 1/20 of the potato, however i must say it was good, but it's not hard to mess up a baked potato. I am so disappointed with the meals we receive from here. Where to start... I ordered the 3 meat 2 side combo. The Meat tasted like someone microwaved at a had a cookout 3 days ago. I whole heartedly feel this way because my ribs were warm on the outside and chill on the inside. They were at least edible. The ribs my son received were so tough that he could barely bite through it. The brisket was dry like it had sat in the sun all day. I had a side of steak fries and baked beans. The fries were undercooked causing me to take a closer look at each one before I ate it. All of the fries were black/grey in the middle. If you have ever cut a potato and saw it grey like this, you might cut that bit away or if it takes up the majority of the potato you might just toss it. Well this place just cut up the grey center potato and served it up. Idk. Maybe they are manufactured fries but I still wouldn't serve this to a customer. I didn't even try the beans. Nice people and great smoker! There are some people who prefer to chew ribs off the bone, others who prefer the meat to fall off. I am of the latter fan club. The sauce was excellent, the right amount of chile and herb flavor to give that warm BBQ taste. The meat had great smoke, however the gristle was not rendered and the meat had not pulled back from the bone. I tossed the ribs and sauce into my sister's crockpot on high. In 4 hours the meat was tender and gristle rendered nicely. The pineapple coleslaw was a little on the bland side for me. Maybe more of the pineapple juice or some lemon to raise the acid and bring out some brightness. The beans were mild and tasty. Recommend you know what you want when you get there! read more
