Who knew Warminster was the place to go for good Mexican food?? I got the Steak and shrimp. Really, it's a fajita but not sliced or on the sizzling pan. Call it whatever, it was good! My wife got the shrimp tacos (or was it the fish?) and was very pleased. Nothing too rubbery as shrimp can get if you don't cook them well. Unfortunately, we aren't driving through Warminster any time soon but if we do, we'll be back to Rey Azteca. read more

A little disappointed from Rey Azteca after ordering takeout from them for the first time. We ordered 5 meals and they messed up one of them. I contacted them via email because we live too far to go back and they haven't gotten back to me. It's disappointing when you spend almost $17 on a combo platter not to get everything. I enjoyed the salsa that came with the food and the guacamole but otherwise I thought the food was pretty mediocre. My family always loved going there at the York rd location, it was not my favorite, and honestly I don't think I'll be back. Too $ for what you get. And obviously the online ordering is not that convenient if they don't remember all of the food. It was very very fast too. Here's a revised version that keeps it accurate but still hits hard: --- I moved to Abington about three years ago, and it's honestly frustrating to even write this. I used to really like Elbow Room. It's a small dive bar, nothing fancy, but me and a few of my friends, all in our early 30s, would go there to play pool and hang out. The old heads there always treated us with respect, and there are definitely some good people there. But things around it have taken a turn. To say there are "characters" would be an understatement. Some of the people in and around that place are straight up sketchy. I've had someone sell me a fake watch and get aggressive about it, which is my mistake for even letting him in my car as he threated me with a knife after I got the money. And while the bartender I spoke to is a good guy and was right not to get involved, it still leaves you feeling like there's this unspoken "look the other way" culture. That doesn't sit right with me, it almost feels like it enables the wrong kind of behavior. And it's not just inside the bar, it's the surrounding area too. I recently saw an older couple i there fucking 50's, grown people, screaming and fighting outside while kids were walking by with their dad getting ice cream. That's not something you want to see in your own neighborhood. It makes you wonder, if people are comfortable scamming and acting aggressive like that, what else is going on? Who else are they targeting? It's a shame, because there are good people there and it used to feel like a solid local spot. But between the behavior and the environment it's attracting, it's not somewhere I feel comfortable being anymore, especially with a family to think about. read more

If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the Willow Grove/Hatboro/Horsham/Warminster/Warrington area, then my recommendation would be Rey Azteca. My brother and I found out about it by not finding much in our area, and ended up wandering around the Hatboro/Horsham, PA area one night, and their original location was an old Pizza Hut. The food was excellent and plentiful, and the staff was efficient and friendly! There was music from their culture playing in the background, and wasn't loud to the point where you had to speak over it to whomever you were with. Well, they have moved from that original location, to a much bigger and better one! They now have a bar (we don't drink, but for those who do, you no longer have to bring your own), and ample room. The food still tastes fantastic, and amazingly the prices have not changed much. This is rare nowadays! I remember when the person who waited on me at their original location, who is now running their new one! I give Rey Azteca five stars because I feel that they: A, kept the same decor and didn't try to be something it wasn't. B, they hired more people, and had the original wait staff train them to the standards that they have had ever since I had been going there. C, they know their customers by sight and by name. This last one, is something that many new restaurants that I've been to don't seem to be taking into account. Normally I would have a photo or two of my meal, but I keep forgetting to take one when I get here! But please do yourself a favor, and go check our Rey Azteca on Street Road in Warminster, PA. *Indoor dining review* I used to go to their York rd location with my co-workers regularly, the service, the food + the fresh homemade salsa and chips are always a plus. I decided to come here and visit their new location with couple of friends, new location but same great food. Restaurant: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Parking: Free parking lot ~Restaurant~ This new restaurant is almost 3x the size compare to the one on York rd. The atmosphere is very similar to the York rd location, nicely decorated and everything's clean. ~Service~ Service was good, staff is friendly and helpful. No complains. ~Food~ What we ordered: -Huevos Rancheros (Very good) -El Ranchero (Very good) -Chicken Tacos (Very good) I've been to few Mexican restaurants where they drenched the protein in heavy amount of oily, makes my stomach very uncomfortable afterwards. It is comforting knowing that both of Rey Azteca's locations are on point with their food. In conclusion, I would definitely go again. I just wish they were closer. I had no problem visiting prior to the Pandemic because we were working hybrid Office/Home. Now we're full time remote and I hardly go to that area. Rey Azteca has always been our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. We were hesitant to visit again after hearing people stated the food quality went downhill. Even though I don't live in the area anymore I'm so happy to see another Rey Azteca location open up! While I've never dined in here, my friends and I have been ordering takeout for years. The cheese sauce is impeccable and the number one reason we continue to return. I typically order fajitas as my main. The vegetables are typically perfectly charred and no complaints about the cook of the meat either. As for accompaniments, you get 3 flour tortillas, refried beans, lettuce, guac, a sprinkle of cheese, and sour cream. The ratio of toppings to meat and veg is sort of lacking, though. The only downside of Rey Azteca is the service. We were told our order would be ready in 30 minutes...we show up 45 minutes later and the order is still not prepared. At an hour wait, still not prepared. My friend had to threaten the waiter and then our food magically appeared. Additionally, the host(ess) does not speak English and we witnessed a diner helping the restaurant call names to be seated. It's just a bit of a mess. If you know what you're getting yourself into, it's totally worth returning. read more

Service: Never asked us if we wanted refills on the drinks or even more napkins. He disappeared after bringing the platters. Hard to get the check. Ambiance is fine. Prices: be advised that the prices in the restaurant are 50% higher than the prices on their online menu. For example: Grande Special $13.75 online vs $19.99 in the restaurant. These vastly higher prices run through the whole menu. Worst margherita ever. Taste was similar to grapefruit juice. Served in a water glass rather than a margherita glass. "Free" tortilla chips and salsa were were not as tasty as Tostito's brands. Seafood tortilla was very good. My tortilla and burrito tasted exactly the same with a really disgusting red sauce. The taco beef is way too spicy, and was present in 3 of the 4 items on my plate. The rice and beans are OK. We have been going to Rey Azteca forever (mostly to the York Rd location) but hadn't been there in about 6 months. Last time the check was about $39.00; this time it was $61.00 for far inferior food, drink, and service. York Rd. store seems much better. $71. check for Mexican food and 1 house drink? Never again. I've been going to their original location for as long as I can remember and this newer location doesn't disappoint. It's good food with quick service and it won't break the bank coming here. I usually go for the Grande Special with a side of a Tamale and it's delicious every time. I have been to the Warminster location numerous times with no complaints until this last visit. Margaritas were weak and we were charged $11 for a side of cheese dip. $11 DOLLARS! The food came out too quick in my opinion. One dish came out with shredded chicken and salsa clearly microwaved producing soggy chips. Service was great as always. Kitchen made a small mistake with another dish and sent a hard taco instead of the soft taco that was ordered. The server brought out the correct taco and left the hard taco for whoever wanted it. Four of us stopped here for a weekday lunch. This location is new but not sure when it opened. Apparently they have another location on York Rd also in Warminster. This one is right near Costco. As soon as I walked in I said "cute place" out loud. It is larger inside than what appears from the street. It even has several rooms with cute chairs and tables, and even booths in each...a Mexican theme and colors of course. I can see this place being very popular. We were seated at a booth...and that basket of nachos and salsa quickly put on the table. Nachos and salsa are my weakness...like a drug...I have no control...so darn good. It was a generous basket for the 4 of us. The menu is huge. The lunch menu choices were great and everything on the lunch menu seemed to be under $10. I picked shrimp fajitas. That shrimp was amazing. Seasoned and cooked perfectly and it was as tender as could be. I would choose that every time. I highly recommend. The others enjoyed their choices as well...tacos, Chile relleno, and fajitas. Service was right on and fast. Looked like there was a room with a full bar. Wonder how their margaritas are? So let me start by saying I love the food and the service at Rey Azteca and have been to the York Road location at least 100 times in the last 14 years. However, today after driving an hour to get here for lunch they were closed for a private party. It's not the closure that I'm upset about, but rather the lack of notification on their website. We've been to the York Road location many times, but wanted to try the new bar at this one. The server we had was one that we recognized from before, and she is very good. The food was pretty much the same, but the prices did go up, but not as much as some others so that's good too. I was not impressed with my drink, but I ordered something that I don't usually get.
