We had dinner here a couple of nights ago. At our request we were seated outside. It was pleasantly warm but everyone else sat inside or on the enclosed patio. The food was excellent. I had Sesame Ahi Tuna with Tempura green beans, my partner had Salmon. I really like the Ahi Tuna here. For app we had Banginn Shrimp. It had a different coating than most places and was not my fav but it still was very good. Noah and Scott were our servers and took good care of us. We will definitely go back. 59 Almshouse seems to be the place for large groups to get together which is both great and tough. Great because they accommodate large parties, and not because the restaurant can get very loud, very quickly. They have three seating options- their inside bar area, an outdoor covered area, and an inside dining room. We sat in their dining room which was nice until more guests came in and it became increasingly harder to carry a normal conversation. That aside, the staff was super nice, attentive, and great with menu suggestions. Now the food- damn (excuse the language). The portions were HUGE (the sticky rice bowl easily could have fed two people) and delicious. We ordered the tempura green beans side as an appetizer along with the bangin' shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was in a more cornmeal-like batter versus a tempura based you would have expected but good nonetheless. And you can't go wrong with tempura green beans with various dipping sauces. For entrees, the turkey reuben was crispy yet saucy, paired with coleslaw, grapes and pickles. The sticky rice bowl was packed with all your favorites and topped with crispy wonton chips (yum). Coupled with a trio of sauces, you also have eight protein options to select from. Aside from the noise level, good experience overall. Wow...excellent dinner tonight...hit all but one box. I may as well start with the one negative. The one box it missed was the noise level...glad we were a party of 4 bc we found ourselves almost shouting to have a conversation. But that truly was our only negative. Our server, Rachael, was excellent and we credited her great service to adding to our awesome dinner at 59 Almshouse. Started with a round of cocktails. I normally get a dirty martini but those short stubby martini glasses ruin it for me...I dislike those glasses. I took the lead from our friend who raved about the Smokey Old Fashion. He was right...one of the best cocktails I have had outside of my regular dirty martini. I look forward to ordering that every time now. It had a bit too much ice so next time I will request less ice for sure. And wow...the smell of the smoke and the drink were outstanding. The menu choices are all so good...difficult to choose bc I wanted about 10 things...I was ready to switch it up from my normal ahi tuna which I get every time. Well, I picked the mahi-mahi fajitas. This has now taken first place and moved up to my new favorite. I loved it! Sooo much food that I hope to share it next time. Leftovers are fine too. They do the fajitas extremely well and I highly recommend. Hubs ordered the Thanksgiving dinner, which is funny since Thanksgiving is in a few days. But that too was outstanding. (I had to taste it) It was a generous portion and he "gobbled" up a good amount and raved how good it was several times as he was eating. Hubs rarely gets that excited about his food which says a lot. Our friends enjoyed and raved about their food as well. Not sure there is a bad thing on the menu. First off we had our reservation at 6:30 and we were sat immediately, which was perfect. Our waitress was awesome for a table of six. She was engaging, personable, and very attentive. As for our meal simply delicious. Their roasted cauliflower is awesome. Drinks were on point. My only complaint is that the rooms are loud with a lot of echo so when in the area we were seated it was tough to hear as much. Otherwise I like the ambiance. After my grandson's competitive soccer game, where he scored 4 goals and an assist, I might add. My wife and I set our focus on this restaurant for an early dinner. We both ordered the roast pork entree with a cup of crab bisque. The pork was moist, and the spinach was flavored to our liking. We both agreed it was a fantastic dinner. My fiancé and I ordered two drinks and French onion soup to start. I was very impressed with the presentation of my old fashioned, but the taste was a little too bitter for me and there was too much pulp. The French onion soup was great. Our entrees were good as well. Everything came out nice and hot, and the portions were big. My only complaint is the service. It's pretty busy and seemingly understaffed. We have been going to 59 Almshouse for many years. My brother and I and our wives really enjoy ourselves when dining there, and Anthony and his crew take good care of us. We were there tonight and our server was Ashley and she really went above and beyond. She provided us with our single best experience at your restaurant. She was the icing on the cake! Our first time at 59 Almhouse and we were very pleased with our lunch. I had the Turkey Club an it was amazing. Crisp bacon, fresh bread, greens, perfect chips and a proper coleslaw. They also gave us a sample of their pickles, which were delicious. We also had the Hawaiian Tuna Poke which we also loved. Portions are large and we took home a generous portion of leftovers. Love this place! The food is consistently good with generous portions and fair prices. Friendly service and a great bar with lots of imaginative drink options. They have a decent wine list as well, with the upper end wines quite good. They have a broad and interesting menu with lots of options for appetizers. Their tuna dishes are excellent and my carnavore friends love the steaks - always cooked just right. The desserts are also very good like the pan baked apple crisp. The only negative at all is the much too small parking lot. They are busy every day of the week, so be sure to make a reservation. There is also a very nice enclosed patio in the front, which is a favorite of mine all year around. read more

Drinks and service were terrific! Food was good with the exception of not really being hot when served. Popular place so when checking in for our reservation we were told we had 90 minutes(as other reviewers have also stated) . That made me immediately feel uneasy. I purposely mar reservations on the early side so I can have a relaxing experience. Upon seating I felt like I needed to quickly decide and order a drink etc . Our appetizer took some time from ordering until served to us so that made dinner feel rushed and left no time for dessert. (Carrot, Broccoli, Cauliflower-all fresh and cut in easy to handle pieces.) Main Buffet: Salmon, Chicken Francaise, Rice, Salad, Fresh Rolls - all fresh, delicious and plentiful. Traveled from NJ out to this PA restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Nicely decorated and also an enclosed patio section available. I do suggest reservations as this place does book up. Treat yourself to the Bucks County Social (see pic). Instead of Vodka (sub for Gin) The French Onion soup features a balanced broth and a generous amount of cheese. Would definitely recommend you try it! The Brie platter appetizer was very large and had an array of pairings for the toast points and cheese. The Thanksgiving Dinner was of quality Turkey and flavorful Stuffing; honestly the perfect comfort meal if looking for something simple yet elegant. The Prime NY strip special was phenomenal as the beef was cooked perfectly and had a very strong beef presence. It melted in your mouth and needed no sauces to enhance it; although it wouldn't be a big deal if you did use one. Deserts were homemade and presented well. The only reason for 4 stars is the service was stretched thin a little with some gaps on checking in to the table and bringing additional drinks etc. Overall pleasant and professional. I will definitely make another trip out and highly recommend this restaurant. read more

It was a beautiful night so my friend and I opted to sit outside as they have a beautiful outdoor seating area with a bar. My friend ordered the grilled octopus and I ordered the steamed edamame as an appetizer. My friend said the octopus was delicious however there was only a few pieces of octopus as the rest of the plate had an overabundance of chickpeas and potatoes. I ordered the garden salad with blackened mahi-mahi. There was no love put into making the salad. It was just a bowl of spring mix, tomatoes, red onions and roasted peppers and and a piece of blackened mahi-mahi. Honestly, it didnt look like a salad should look. Everything was just put on the salad. No mixing at all. It tasted meh. We weren't offered any bread either. My friend ordered the chicken caesar salad. Again, it was just romaine with grilled chicken on top. No love whatsoever. Our waiter was just ok. He seemed to disappear a little. Had a quick dinner here before heading to AR Workshop in Newtown. The place is small and crowded. Reservations are 100% needed, even at 4:30 or 5:00 in the afternoon. The bar crowd at 5:00 was rowdy and loud. I didn't mind though--they were just having a good time! The menu has something for everyone! I really want to go back and try something different. I had the white sangria, which was pretty good! I also ordered the tuna poke entrée. It came with three sauces--one was pretty spicy, one was wasabi, and one was a tangy mayo-type sauce. I didn't need too much of the sauce because the dish was flavorful enough. The only problem was that it was VERY heavy on the toasted sesame oil--that's all I could taste. The ribs seem to have changed. They're not as good as I remember, actually a real disappointment because I came specifically for them. They strangely were both saucy and dry at the same time. It's as if they sat for a long time, were reheated, and then covered in sauce to mask the texture and flavor. They were very salty, too. One of our go-to restaurants after trying for the first time a couple months ago. Been back at least 5 times since. We bring someone different with us every time and everyone has been impressed. Haven't had anything bad yet. My wife loves their French onion soup and sweet potato burger. Their spinach/artichoke dip is really good and I've had a different entree every time and they were all really good. Their cocktails have all been delicious and the smoked margaritas is fun to get. Why the salmon sticky rice bowl you ask? Well, because the salmon has always been cooked well with the skin nice and crispy, even after coming out of a takeout container! The veggies and fruit are great, cucumber, tomato, red peppers, edamame, and avocado....and more. Then the rice it's good and sticky as it should be. Also, they give you so many sauces! I don't use most of them, because there too spicy, but sometimes I try a little. The sesame oil one is my favorite, and the sauce is a great added flavor to my bowl! 59 Almshouse is a restaurant that has a lot of different foods to try, and they always seem to add that extra touch, like a great sauce or home made whipped cream. I love this restaurant, but it will be the last time we come here. Why have a reservation system in place, when you still must wait at least 30 minutes for a table? It's poor management. Plain and simple. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it will be the last. 30 minutes after our reservation time and there were still 4 tables ahead of us. We left. (btw, the food truck, Fry's Scratch Kitchen at Warwick Farms Brewery down the street was excellent!!!) Honestly, I can't imagine what the staff has to deal with. Not fair to them and it's painfully obvious they don't know how to handle upset customers. It is so frustrating. I am a manager of client loyalty and understand when things go bump, but this is obviously systemic. I'm very happy for your popularity and success and I'm sure you will have others who will take our place...but you've lost me as a customer. read more
