Shane, Andrew and Justin are great to work with. They know their products, they're patient, and genuinely friendly. I needed an e-bike to get up the steepest street in town. Justin said the bikes he had in stock wouldn't do it, and suggested I order a Trek bike and have it shipped to the store. I could try it and return it, no charge, within 30 days. After my test ride around the parking lot, Justin and I rode through town to my very steep street and, yep, it was a bit of work but the bike got me up to my house. So many levels of great in both Revolution Bike stores (Arcata and Eureka). The most important take-away is that they're innovative if you have special needs (bad hand arthritis in my case). Because I'm fussy and cheap, I bought a bike online through a different company, not great quality but suited my needs, and Revolution Bicycle received it, built it for me, fitted it to me, and walked me through some of the issues that the online purchased bike came with--such as a fractured rim. They fixed the issues for me, tested the bike, and were pleasant and cheerful through the process. These folks are SO smart, innovative, informed, and downright enjoyable that I will always go to them for my bicycling needs. I've never had such an excellent go-to shop for my cycling needs. read more

I had a bicycle that needed some brake work so I called the first place that came to mind and expected that they would have everything I needed to fix up the bike this afternoon. The female representative that answered the phone told me they had the cables I would need but seemed unsure of her answer, I almost asked to speak to someone else who was more knowledgeable, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I promptly biked all the way across town and arrived at the shop. I asked for the cable and was told they only had cables that needed to be cut to length. Store rep A said that he was standing next to the person when they took the call and said we only discussed prices. I chose not to stand there and argue because I knew the only reason I biked across town for the cable was because I was told they had something I could just install off the shelf. I asked for some tips on how to calibrate the front brake and instead of politely taking 30-40 seconds out of the workers day I was told "I'm too busy, to watch some YouTube videos" seriously?! How much work could you possibly have with bicycles? Someone who knows how to work on a hike should be able to do a full tune up in like half an hour. To his credit, he did offer to "check in" the bike to work on it. This would have been reasonable if i had agreed to overpay for a simple fix in the first place. I will be buying my parts online. I do not recommend supporting this business. In response to the businesses reply. Correct I only know about my poor experience with the communication skills of the staff and the way I was treated by them when I showed up. That's what I came here to share with everyone. I purchased a Trek bicycle over 20 years ago. It is a mountain bike but I ride it on roads. It is not an expensive bicycle but it works for me. I try to ride 6 to 8 miles 3 times per week. Over the years my bike just wore out. I have taken my bicycle into Revolution Bicycle Repair on several occasions and each time they treat me as if I purchased an expensive bike. They are always willing to help, extremely responsive and quick. On my last visit they said my bike had so much wear, they recommend a complete overhaul, which was 1/2 the cost of a new bike. Reluctantly I said yes. I am so pleased with the results. I would strongly recommend Revolutions. They have the top end bicycles down to the low range like I own. Everyone is important to them so you can be assured that they will take great care of you. read more

If I could give this bike shop 6 stars I would. They really are the only true bike shop in Arcata. Their bike mechanics are friendly, fast and very knowledgeable. I bought my son a bike from Revolution in June. It was more than I wanted to pay, but after months of research I discovered my son truly needed an extra large (he is 6' 3") size bike which was hard to find used. My son was encouraged to really ride the bike (TREK MARLIN 7) before we purchased it. We also purchased a Bontrager Keyed Ultimate Chain Lock with the bike. The lock was not working after about 2 months, so I brought it back to the store and was immediately given a brand new lock, no questions asked. Shortly after that the chain came off of the gears and it would not stay on. My son had a taken a spill on the bike so I figured it was due to some damage he had caused. I dropped it off with the hopes that I'd have it back before our weekend trip. They fixed it, tuned it and it was ready within 24 hours. There was no charge since I had purchased the bike there and they provide a free tune up on every bike they sell. It was the best customer service experience I have ever had at a bike shop. Plus they sell only quality bikes and bike gear. I have been to other bike repair shops in Arcata and not one of them matches the quality service provided by Revolution Bicycle Repair. Don't waste your time or money going elsewhere. This place is the bomb! read more

Once I needed a rear tire replaced, they fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Another occasion I need some locks for my children's bikes since people steal tires now! The employee was very helpful in deciding which type of locks to buy to secure the entire bike. read more

Brought my bike in on an early Thursday afternoon just to get the brake cables/housing replaced and the rear hub tightened (fairly straightforward job). Was called the next day and was told it would be finished by end of day on Saturday. When I came in to pick up my bike I found they hadn't started the work. They told me they would have it ready on Sunday, but when I drove into town again to pick up my bike I found they still hadn't even started the job. They finally started working on my bike Monday morning and were able to finish it before noon. Having moved from Humboldt to an area in Oregon with a much larger biking community, I've been to shops that have to serve a large customer base with an equivalently sized staff (or smaller) to Revolution and have never had to put up with such inexcusable service. Staff was friendly upon my first visit but showed little respect to me or my time once my bike was left with them. Not sure if this poor customer service is a result of reduced competition from Life Cycle's absence. Very frustrating experience, nonetheless. read more

I came in from out of town to visit family locally. I needed my son's bike repaired as the brakes were not working at all. I spoke with Andrew over the phone and he was very helpful and friendly. They even offered to make sure that we got the bike back within a couple days so that it was fixed before we returned home. So, I got there and they were totally accommodating and I got a great vibe from all the people there. I dropped the bike off at noon on Tuesday and I got a text message at 10:31am the next morning that the bike was ready. These guys could have absolutely taken advantage of me because I know nothing about how much it costs to repair bike brakes. They replaced the whole system and had the brakes working perfectly and the total was about $65 with parts and labor! I can't thank them enough, the smile on my sons face was awesome. Revolution Bicycles in Arcata is a class act and they deserve your business. Thanks guys!!! I've never bought a bike from there, but I've had them take care of some maintenance on my daily toodler. They are professional yet casual. Friendly. Andrew and Justin are great. One small example: On bike-to-work day last year, had a first time commuter with me. When her light went out, I went by there to pick her up a light for the dark ride home. THEY PULLED OUT A LOANER and let me borrow it for the night ride home. WHAT?? AMAZING. Needless to say, they just want you out riding and will help get you on two wheels! read more

I bought a Raleigh Record from the old Henderson Center bicycle that is now Revolution. For the past 32 Years I have rode the same bike. Every two or so years, I will take the bike in to Revolution for a tune up and occasionally new tires. I am always amazed how well this bike performs after a tune up. Tight and smooth. I am getting a little older and the ergonomics of my Record are not working for me so I have decided it is time for a new bike. I have spent the past couple of months doing my research. I have visited bike shops in Humboldt and the Santa Rosa area. I seems like everyone wants to just "sell you a bike and get you out the door" and not listen/answer my questions. With exception to a kid named Avery from Revolution. The kid answered all of my questions, made some really good suggestions and seemed interested in listening to me. I haven't bought a new bike yet but I do plan on buying the next bike from Revolution. read more

Stopped in while touring from Portland to San Francisco because my freewheel was making a terrible noise. The shop owner whisked my bike in for service and diagnosed the issue, which unfortunately was irreparable (cheap wheelset wasn't serviceable). Thankfully they had a reasonably priced replacement wheel. They swapped the tire and cassette, but the brake disc wasn't transferable so the shop owner threw in a suitable center lock disc for free, and even offered to ship my old wheel home for me. All the service (including lubing the chain) was included in the price of the wheel. These guys could have gouged me hard since I'm 350 miles from my destination, but instead they provided a good product at a reasonable price and absolutely top notch service. This is clearly a shop that's owned and run by dedicated and passionate cyclists. A+ all the way, thanks guys! read more

I sold a bike on EBay and was having a hard time getting it boxed up to ship. I called around to different shops and they either didn't provide that service or wanted me to schedule for the following week. Talked to Revolution in Arcata and they told me they could box it up and suggested I ship with a company called BikeFlights. I went with the suggestion and BikeFlights gave me a ship date of the following day. I took my bike over to the guys at Revolution and explained the time crunch. They made it happen and the bike was picked up on time and they called me to let me know that the bike was on its way. My customer was happy when he received the bike, all the ship prep was done meticulously. Thanks Revolution! Even though I live in Eureka (and there is a Eureka Revolution store), you will be getting my business in the future. read more

This a nice little shop that does service and sales for higher end bikes. its a good shop and they do everything you may need for tune-up etc. but they are also the most expensive shop around.....it seems by quite a bit. i think you can get similar service for a better deal elsewhere. read more

Took an older Shimano wheel with a broken spoke in Sunday, told the clerk that there was no hurry (I had a spare wheelset) and give me a call when it was ready and since it wasn't a top-notch wheel, don't repair if parts are hard to get, or not feasible for any reason. Low & behold, a call on my cell Monday morning, the wheel is ready! So I go to pick it up and whip out my trusty debit card (expecting maybe a $30-$40 repair bill, no problem) and was pleasantly surprised at a bill under twenty bucks. WOW! Fast service and a more than fair repair bill. I've used this bike shop many times as have many of my riding buddies and they always come through, fast, reliable and super-reasonable. and they're a great group to a person, as well. Now, a bit of advice for Justin & company, you need to charge a bit more for such excellent service. I don't want to have to go searching for another shop because you can't make it simply because you don't charge enough! Keep up the excellent work & Thanks! read more

In my two visits to this store I was first ignored for the five minutes as I walked around the store looking at bikes and components. Then I came in with my bike to get a derailleur cable and housing. Instead of doing the work the mechanic (who never speaks directly to me) gives the cashier all the parts for me to do it myself? How would he even know that i could do the reapir myself? And on top of it I was charged $26 for a derailleur cable 8' of housing ferrules and end caps. Being a mountain biker for 15 years and working in the bicycle industry as mechanic a mountain bike guide and professional trail builder for 10 years I know better about the cost of this service and $26 would cover that repair done by the mechanic in any other town in America. My service was horrible I was overcharged and I came in with my bike to a store that has service in its name. Unbelievable. I have been in bike shops around North America and this was by far the worst service I have ever had in an industry where we understand that there is a certain "shop dick" mentality but this was above and beyond the worst service I have ever had. Super bummed this is the main bike shop in the town I am trying to move to. read more
