Called to see if they carried shock pumps for mountain bikes, the guy on the phone said he didn't know what that was and the bicycle mechanic was not there. Really a shock pump? You run a sporting goods store you should know the products that go with what you sell. Odd place.. Staff is less than helpful and very "unhappy" it seems to be there. The only reason I went was to get a PE uniform for my daughter. Won't be going back. I try to spend my money locally and buy here, but I've been let down by them too many times now. It seems the help there are really just going through the motions of a summer job. After being sent to their Fortuna store for a product that was out of stock in Eureka but in stock there, it turns out they had the wrong size! When I called to see if a replacement was available, the kid on the phone checked stock but was unapologetic when they actually did not have my size. As much as I hate to do it, the next time I buy my cleats will be from an online retailer or out of town vendor. read more

After my friend's head set seized on the pacific coast trail we took it here, the mechanics were all extremely friendly, not at all pretentious and very knowledgeable! They went above and beyond, for a 50 dollar tune up they included everything, even truing the wheels on the bike and cleaning it! They also offer a service to ship your bike home for you if you're done your bike tour! They're fabulous. read more

I have shopped at Sport and Cycle for the last 30 years. I bought my first wet-suit from the Fortuna store when it first opened in the Fortuna shopping center, and have purchased several other suits over the years, as well as many other products. I always shop locally to keep my money in the local economy, but I will be spending my money elsewhere in the future. After being a loyal, regular customer for thirty years, the first time I tried to warranty something (a pair of Danner boots that fell apart after only one hunting season) the employees and management of the Fortuna store treated me as if I were trying to pull a fast one on them, insinuating that I had purchased the boots somewhere else, and refusing to honor the warranty. I paid out of pocket to have them send my boots back to Danner, when they could have just given them to their rep, only to have Danner issue only partial credit for the boots. This experience has left a sour taste with me. I shopped locally so I could deal with people I knew and trusted, and who knew me, and who I thought would stand behind their product. Apparently I was dreadfully wrong about these things and I will no longer be spending my money at Sport and Cycle. read more
