HOW TO STAY ALIVE IN THE WOODS
Joel P.

This place is amazing on many levels. Lots and lots of workwear, plus the outdoor gear is fantastic. Oh, I'll be back the next time I'm in Eureka.

Would give it 5 but it's not as customer oriented & helpful as it used to be. Great family owned local store!

Love the Outlet store! My bf can't get enough of it, he's always going in to see what's new or find a treasure he may have missed last time.

Great stuff. Sometimes a little pricey but they are local and makes a difference to me. Career to local growers it would seem.

This place needs more reviews! Put it on the map ya'll!!…read more The owner is a kickass badass woman and is so friendly. I absolutely love local businesses and hers was a mash up of different artists and collections from across the US in one place. It's a great place to get a Knick knack or souvenir. So many amazing trinkets. I couldn't catch the owners name but she was so cool and I would be her friend in a heartbeat. She was sharing some amazing recs in the area and it definitely helped me plan the rest of my trip!

The owner has a very friendly, cute dog and you can bring yours in as long as your dog gets along with other ones. There's an array of stuff here, my friends bought pants there and they love them. There's a tons of shirts and sweatshirts with cool designs on them that are really good quality. There's a lot of art and jewelry from local artists, and there's really unique things like a rolling pin that says "I like big buns" and some really cool etched glassware. The owner told us that she's a screenprinter and she prints on stuff and that's how she opened the shop. She had friends make designs and she would put them on things. Super nice owner with great quality stuff. If I'm in the area I'll definitely be back.

And right now, in a shopping bag under a bench a few steps inside my front door in Oakland is a beautiful sweater from the Irish Shop, procured for aforementioned tractor-rider week before last during my visit to this fine little town lost but not forgotten near the top of this silly state of ours. I hadn't planned on leaving with a sweater. I had planned just on going inside and seeing what was what in this place I had passed over the years wondering briefly of its contents and other things. But once inside with the Gaelic crosses and toffee and wool from the North Sea and the nice shopkeeper that was five inches shorter without her shoes, inside I got to thinking of the trips I've made to the Emerald Isle with my mother the tractor-rider, the Scots-Irish lass who can't sing you Danny Boy without crying. And then there was this sweater. And it was really, really beautiful. And in a few weeks it will be her birthday. And then the rest all seemed to happen so naturally. Please, you must keep this to yourself. She'd feign surprise when the postman arrived even if you did tell her but I'd so much prefer that it be an all the way surprise. And if one day you're at a bit of a loss for how maybe to show your love and appreciation for the woman who made all this possible, make for yourself a long weekend and head up the coast. There's something here for her, I promise you. And it matters not from whence you hail, lovey. As there's a little Irish in all of us.

The employee that day asked me several times if I needed help, when I clearly didn't, and seemed to be hovering hear me as I went through the store. Their attitude was very suspicious of me, and made me extremely uncomfortable. I left when I could no longer stand the type of attention being paid to me. The other time I've been in this shop recently, I was with a white friend who was dressed quite well, and we were left to our own devices.
