Just a lovely experience! Visiting from out of town and stopped in for some fishing licenses and supplies. Store didn't open till 10 so we waited outside and then walked in right at opening. Staff was ready to help and they gave us great advice. We headed up stairs and met employee Jeff who clearly likes his job. Not only did he make great suggestions on where to fish he happily printed out directions for us. We picked up bait and weights as well and headed back down stairs. Waited in line for just a couple minutes since they had 2 employees behind the counter working it didn't take long. Both the young lady and guy working behind counter were very friendly, pleasant, full of good information and just fun to chat with. We found the fishing spot with ease and had a great day. What a great store with super helpful/nice people. A surprisingly great selection of fishing tackle, better than the other sporting goods places in town. Bought some halibut and salmon tackle as well as a bike lock for my kayak. Nice selection of swim baits for rockfish in all of the popular colors and sizes. Nice selection of kayaks including Hobies. Being a kayak angler, it is rare to find a store which has an extensive inventory of both fishing tackle and kayaks. Hey you local guys I met kayak fishing out of Trinidad in shorts and cotton sweat shirts, please come here and get some IMMERSION CLOTHING. Sorry about the rant but that's just plain stupid. I hadn't held or used a firearm in over 20 years and wasn't even comfortable holding one. This course is unbelievably amazing! The course covered every single thing I could have thought of and so much more, but it also gave me the knowledge I needed to feel confident handling a firearm, and the practice session drastically improved my confidence in using one. I am thoroughly impressed by Jonathan's expertise and the amount of information and experience I took home! I am signed up for the next class already! I HIGHLY recommend this class!!! read more

I was not a regular to begin with and when I chose to buy my first shotgun here I was disappointed that the sales clerk felt the need to assemble and disassemble my new gun, in the process he stripped a screwhead on the gun so when I handle the gun it I get scratched by a large burr he picked up... He tells us he can order a new one and 6 weeks later we are told it is a factory issue and we should go directly to them. Really? You screw something up in shop doing something you had no reason to do and expect ME to fix it. "Oh wait, heres a $20 gift card! No we still won't fix what our employee did but hell you can still shop here!" I could have gone to the Bay Area and paid less but I chose to shop local. There is no question in my mind why people shop online anymore around here. Be aware that MOST of whom they employ are wanna-be kids, looking to handle equipment they can't afford, and have no respect for. I will not shop here again. Very poor after-market customer service. read more

Place was busy. Was greeted as I came in the front door. So far so good . Went upstairs looks like three guys in the gun dept . They all were helping customers. One was just chatting the whole time . I waited patiently right at the Counter for over. 10 minutes no one even said they would be with me soon. When the guy behind the counter helps a young women that had arrived after me I didn't say a word. 5 minutes later he started helping another young lady. I was tired of waiting. I turned around and walked out . So much for shop local. Thank you Aaron for your response. As much as I would love special attention. I think it would taint the review process. The owners must take really good care of their staff, because the same people have been there for years, and every staff member I've encountered has been five-stars, even when I had a problem that needed to get resolved. I've only bought archery gear from here, so my review is just focused on that. Dean is great. He knows his stuff, is super friendly and helpful. He's always gone above and beyond when I've been in there. However, when he's not there, there's a younger guy who fills in the in archery department who is useless and downright insulting. Last year, I was helping my younger sister pick out arrows, and mentioned the type I used - 1515s. The guy came up and told me that I was wrong, there was no such type of arrow and I replied that I knew what type of arrow I had, I had shot with them the day before and had bought them there a few months previously. His answer for that was that I must not know very much about archery. At the time, I was competing on a collegiate archery team and when I told him so, he told me to go ask my coach, since I was wrong about the type of arrows I had. I left and to this day refuse to buy anything from there unless I can deal with Dean directly. read more

He is great at explaining the anatomy of my bike in an accessible, intelligent and efficient manner, and as a total bike n00b I learn something each time I take my bike in. I have to say, right off the bat here, I had some issues with the bike shop part of the store. I came in looking for a mountain bike, and left with a decently priced Cannondale. Unfortunately the fork was not working, and when I pointed this out to the associate he told me it just needed breaking in. Two fork rebuilds later (covered by warranty so no charge) I finally got the bike running smoothly. The people are knowledgeable and want to help. Greg has been very helpful in particular in getting things settled between Cannondale and the store. read more
