Inflatable Kayaks
Travis T.

Since I was young, I have always wanted to visit the Redwoods and kayak down the Smith river. I like to book outdoor activities whenever I travel to national parks and decided to book a half-day scenic kayak trip with Redwood Rides. This was my first visit to Redwood National Park and felt this would be the best way to jump right in. Redwood Rides offers all sorts of tours that include biking, hiking, and kayaking for all ages and skill levels. My trip down the Smith River was very relaxing and enjoyable. The Smith River is located within Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and is accessible only by non-motorized watercraft (which makes it so peaceful). Andie was our tour guide and did a great job of educating us about the surrounding area. The scenery was so beautiful and water was so clear. We even stopped and did a mini hike at Stout Grove. Redwood Rides made this process very easy for us and made the overall experience enjoyable. Thanks for a great time!

On a road trip and decide to stop at Society Hole early in the day. The beach is completely empty. Then a van for Redwood Rides pulls up and parks as close as it possibly can perpendicular to the front end of my car blocking me in. The driver exits the van and walks up the path and disappears. It took me a few moments to realize he wasn't coming back anytime soon. 100% dick move. Do not recommend based on employee artitude.

Smith River, Del Norte, California

Priceless and unforgettable experience. It's breathtakingly beautiful. Felt super safe and well cared for by the RR team. A must must do in Del Norte County for all ages and levels of comfort in water. Can't wait to go back to try a different run!

Four of us went on the South fork rafting trip and had the best time. It was absolutely gorgeous and the guides were great. We will definitely be doing it again.

We decided kind of at the last minute that we wanted to go kayaking on the Smith River a few days out. I was able to make a reservation online for kayaks, which includes a shuttle, and we were all set. Communication was good with this company, and everything went very smoothly with our trip. Alex was extremely helpful and friendly and accommodating. He gave us lots of options for things to do and to plan our day. He also took photos with his own phone and texted them to us after the trip, which was pretty cool. I would definitely be interested in taking another trip with this group.

Rock jumping into the beautiful Smith River!

Wow!!!! This was the best experience of our trip. I had some anxiety because of a close call on the Truckee last year, but the AM portion of the kayak trip was perfect. Eric's calm guidance allowed me to feel safe navigating the fun but mellow rapids. The Kayaks were inflatable so strong but forgiving. Eric took us on a hike through The Stout grove and was very knowledgeable. The other family was in the raft with him and had little kids. He know how to keep them engaged while also keeping my teenage kids interested (the rock jumping was a highlight for them). My family and I could not have asked for a better guide and everyone we dealt with at Redwood Rides was fantastic! They had everything we needed to outfit us for the trip but the most important were the people. I wish I could give you more stars. Thank you!!!

We had such a fabulous time on our day rafting trip on the Smith River! What a beautiful day! Great sandwich lunch by the river! Chris and Ryan did a great job!! Chris had to keep getting out and pushing us off the rocks....what a great attitude he had. We had fun watching Ryan and the kayaks! What a great day!!!

Just finished a ride with Liam and Chris who went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. They even didn't seem to mind when my daughter was talking their ears off and took us on an amazing hike. My 5&8 year olds had a blast and the rapids weren't too much for us.

Awesome!! Bike section was easy and rolling right through some of the largest trees I've ever seen. Lunch, set up by Matt, was very good!! The kayak part was the best! Saw the largest tree in the woods. 10+ mikes on bike. 5+ mikes on river. Was the best...would definitelydo again and recommend! Liam...our guide for the day was, patient, knowledgeable, fun and a great guide!

Beautiful view.

Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.

Also, they give you exactly what is needed to paddle in Trinidad so you remain warm & comfy. I was so impressed with our guides, Nick and Alex, and their local knowledge of seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal species. Whales are cool, but there are also a lot of other really cool animals & birds in Trinidad Bay. And these guides know just where to take you. They were not afraid to take us into a little rougher waters, when we asked them to, likely because they are so skilled and experienced. I also really appreciated all of the paddling guidance they provided making sure I was using my core/legs more than my arms. I was with a very large group and the guides handled everything with such class and professionalism. It is a step above any outfitter I've ever paddled with. We are really lucky to have them in Trinidad to help us access some of the most fantastic coastline along the California coast. They also do a great job interpreting the California Coastal National Monument! All of those rocks and islands are part of a statewide national monument that runs from the Oregon border south to Mexico! Wow! What a treasure. Thank you Kayak Trinidad for providing A+++ service where it is needed and appreciated!

They had me use this very old chainsaw with now muffler installed on it and with absolutely no head phones to protect my hearing while I run this very loud chainsaw to cut these trees down that would be in the way of their new cabins that are going into RV park. This woman Connie law and other employees of hers lied and said I didn't use a chainsaw and if I did use a chainsaw they would have given me chainsaw protection hearing muffs for my ears to be protected while running that old extremely loud chainsaw they had me using. This woman lied about everything so I couldn't get her company to pay for my hearing injury. This is fraud theat she has committed in my hearing injury case. They did not follow the laws the correct way as far as safety goes when operating a chainsaw and making me use some old junky loud chainsaw without a muffler on this chainsaw or even a pair of chainsaw head phones to protect my hearing?? Total disregard for safety laws for me as an employee and totally lied that I didn't use a chainsaw on her property, business those days I was employed working for Connie law. I would never ever stay at her campground because of this horrible situation she and other employees put me through! A good employer would have investigated what happened to me and did everything in their power to fix the damages ? No this woman did everything in her power to hide what happened to me and tell these lies about my use of this chainsaw on her property! What a horrible experience and totally bad position this woman Connie law has put me in? This woman is a lier and a crook . I will be hiring an attorney for this injury that has a lot of fraud involved in it. She has broken every law in the books about safety and workman's comp laws. Businesses should not be able to do this to employees they hire to do physical labor? My civil rights have been violated as well as my constitutional rights have been violated in this case ?
