We did this trail ride through the redwood forest with our three sons and it was fantastic! The trail leaders were knowledgeable and friendly. They took photos and provided information about the forest as we rode through. The horses were very calm and clearly experienced trail horses. Lorie was a very professional, knowledgeable guide. My two daughters ages 6 & 8 and I really enjoyed our beach ride. The horses are trailered in and you meet at the trail head. Fabulous scenery and she shared some great information about the area. I'd suggest bug spray as the one wooded area is thick with mosquitoes. The beach trail ride was everything I had hoped for and more. We saw it all - grasslands, forest, sand dunes and the beautiful ocean. I felt safe and in good hands the whole time. Hubster and I booked the 3.5 hour ride in the Redwoods. Booked the trip about a month before we arrived. We ended up getting a private ride due to the time of year. What drew us to this company was that they do not discriminate regarding your weight. I'm a big girl. Most places will not let you ride if you weigh over 185 pounds. All they need to know is your height, weight, and experience riding in order to pair you up with the correct horse. Lorie was an absolutely wonderful trail guide! We are inexperienced riders as we have not ridden in about 40 years. Lorie brought really wonderful horses for us to ride. I got a lovely draft horse named Ginger, while Hubster got a beautiful mount named River. Lorie gives you information about what you are riding through and answers all of your questions. He is so smart and helpful, so was his grandmother. Great team. Lori is pleasant to work with, friendly, and professional. My horse, beautiful Britney. Britney is such an awesome animal. It was as though we bonded, she knew where I would get concerned and be extremely cautious for me. Lestat even mentioned to his grandmother, " Britney is being very cautious when going down the hill." I truly felt safe with Britney and she had a way to let me know she knows. I would love to return for a beach excursion with Britney. Ginger was another horse, grand in size and gorgeous. Reminds me of a Clydesdale. Ginger does not like any horses riding close to her back , she may kick I'm told, but it did not happen to Britney while we were behind her. After a while though Britney had enough of following Ginger and passed her and another horse and passed them up( cut the line lol ). I booked A 2 1/2 hour trail ride for my 7 year old granddaughter and me. It was a wonderful experience for both of us. The weather was perfect and our trail guide, Lorie, was great. We met her at the designated area ten minutes before our starting time. She was there with the horses saddled and ready to go. we road thru meadows, wooded areas, over sand dunes and on the beach. She is very knowledgeable and patient. My granddaughter led quite the conversation with her on all the facts and information about ecosystems she had just learned and answered all the questions she had. Many other places will reduce the riding time for mounting/dismounting, safety, etc; but with Crescent, the time selected is the actual riding time! it was a great experience and I highly recommend it! read more

What a wonderful experience! Took my 6 year old daughter on a beach trail ride while we were in the area visiting family. It was last minute and turned out to be a super windy day, and I'm so glad we went! Yes, we did get blasted by sand coming down off the dunes to the beach, and I'm still getting sand out of my ears, but oh, it was so worth it! To see my little one enjoy riding a horse by herself, the feel of the sun on our face, the wind at our back, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, the gorgeous scenery, the beautiful, well trained horses, perfection! My daughter is a horse fanatic and so we (sometimes begrudgingly) take her and the rest of our family (of 4) on riding tours. This was the best of the 10 or so rides we've done as a family. Even my son who couldn't care less about horses enjoyed it. Unlike many horseback riding tours we've been on, these horses don't seem to be over-ridden, following the same path 6 times a day, in fact they seemed to enjoy the trip. As others have said, the horses all have their own personalities. We rode through the forest, on the beach, and even though it was summer we were the only ones on that whole stretch of beach that day. My horse actually wanted to gallop, so I let her even though my riding skills are minimal. And as riding tours go, this is one of the least expensive ones we've been on. Highly recommended if you're in the area and want to ride horses on the beach. read more

Fun adventure when looking for activities to do while visiting Crescent City. The owner Lorie was great in scheduling a ride for date and time that worked well for me. The horses were well trained and easy enough to maneuver through the rugged Mills Creek trail ride. I chose the 2 hour ride and that was plenty of time to ride down the the creek and back. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. There is also a beach ride option you can pick when booking your ride. The prices are reasonable and I definitley recommend this company and giving the the experience a try if you're looking for something fun and different to do in Del Norte county. For my 59th birthday present we did the Towola Dunes, forest and beach trail ride and it was fantastic. I haven't been on a horse in 20 years and was a little anxious.
