While I was sad to see Humpty's Dumplings close, I am glad we have Revival BBQ. There's a lot to love.
Love that there is a walk-up window where I can pick up food while walking my dog. Love that they have vegetarian and vegan options. Love that they are open late.
I've had tofu burnt ends, which were pretty good, served over rice. The sauces are not my style (I don't like sweet sauces so most BBQ sauce is not to my taste). The Korean BBQ was too sweet for me. The aji verde tasted similar to green goddess dressing; again, not my style but not a bad sauce.
"But how is the barbecue?" you ask. I'm into it!
The brisket is tender and flavorful. They clearly take their barbecue seriously. I believe good BBQ doesn't need sauce; this doesn't need sauce. (Though at times I do like a good vinegar-y mop sauce.)
If you get a bowl, the available toppings (pickled onions, peppers/onions, cheese, salsa) are all pretty good examples of each thing. They don't appear to take shortcuts here.
Tried the brownie, and it did not disappoint. Fudgy with a nice chocolate sauce. I heated both up at home and we loved it.
The staff are friendly and seem to really care about what they serve you. They are proud of their food.
Tip: order at the window instead of online. Prices on Toast were higher than at the restaurant. read more
