    Sausage, egg and cheese
    Ade B.

Johnny's Hots are known for their hot sausages. You can get a variety of hot sausage sandwiches. On one of my morning walks to Penn Treaty Park I decided to stop by and see for myself if the sausages lived up to the hype. I ordered a Sausage, egg & cheese. It comes on like a hoagie roll. I also saw a tasty looking apple danish and grabbed that too. I sat in the park to eat my meal. I am happy to report that the sausage lived up to the hype. It is just the right amount of hot, not overpowering. And It's very juicy. The sandwich was made with the perfect ratio of sausage to egg to cheese. I devoured it! It was soo good! The roll was slightly chewy, which makes me think it wasn't the freshest. The apple danish was a tasty treat I'm glad that I ordered to end my meal with. The big negative to Johnny's Hots is that it's a cash only business. That's ridiculous in 2022. You lose far more business than you save in fees when u don't accept credit cards. I rarely carry cash, so I can rarely stop here for those mouth watering sausages. Such a shame.

Ordered an egg and cheese and received this? How can any employee make that and serve it to a customer? I'm basically eating an empty bread roll. Second time getting breakfast here and have been disappointed both times. I'm all about supporting small businesses but that's insane to serve to someone

    Hot sausage with pepper hash

Absolutely the best sandwiches in Philly! Johnny's has been around a long time. It's a fave spot of truck drivers, laborers, union workers and business people. The hot sausage is the best according to my husband. ( I don't eat hot sausage) He loves the hot sausage, egg and cheese. My son eats hot sausage with pepper hash. I love the fish cake sandwich with pepper hash! The fish cake has a soft filling and is deep fried to a nice crunchy exterior. It is delicious! What is pepper hash you ask? Well it's a Philly thing! It's chopped peppers, onions in a light vinegar sauce similar to cole slaw but without mayo. It gives the sandwich that little extra kick. Johnnys also does an award winning cheese steak, hot dogs and some other things. They have fountain sodas and tastykakes too.

Tasty roll, good dog, delicious kraut. I remember it was cash only at the time.

Went to Penn treaty park and found this lil stand across the street. While breakfast had just ended, I figured a few lunch items would hold me over. Asked about making a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, and they said while they didn't have blue cheese, they would use sauce, cheese, and ranch to make it. Also tried the meatball sandwich with parm and long hots. The buffalo chicken hit the spot perfectly. The meatball park was cheesy and saucy, with good quality bread on both. Cash only, and you have to pay for most toppings, but it's a good option for the park if you need a quick bite. Average price for everything otherwise

Classic Philly spot on the waterfront
    Jeff H.

Johnny's Hots is a classic Philly tradition. It opens at 4:30 am and serves up its sandwiches and other treats until the early afternoon. It's location on the Philadelphia waterfront across from Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown means there are always people driving by - including late night revelers who can take advantage of its middle-of-the-night opening hour. Johnny's Hots is takeout only so the pandemic has not affected it at all. And what to order here? .... well everything is quite good. But of course you have to go with their famous hot sausage. It reminds me of an Austrian wurst. Add some Pennsylvania pepper hash and long hots and you have one very tasty sandwich that shouldn't be missed if you are living in Philly. I also usually get a Philadelphia fish cake sandwich - not because they are my favorites - but because they are hard to find elsewhere and I want to support traditional Philly foods. Everyone has prob been to Johnny's Hots at one time or another. But if you haven't been. what are you waiting for?

Couldn't wait to get my hands on some items from The Little Hot Dog Wagon. I noticed the logo in…read morethe food court a while ago, but wasn't sure when it would be opening. I stopped by today when I overheard a colleague mention that they were serving customers. It excited me even more when I saw vegan dogs and sausage on the menu! I got the Vegan Hot Dog combo which comes with fries, sauerkraut and a fountain drink. I subbed my waffle fries for sweet potato fries for an additional $1. For the whole meal, it was roughly $21 with tip and tax. Being in a mall food court, I wasn't expecting that hefty of a price. However, if we're being real, it was one of the most delicious hot dogs I've ever eaten. The roll was buttered and had some sweetness to it. Fries were super crispy and hot. I even had the employee making my food walk my tray over to the table I was seated at. She smiled and said, "I hope you enjoy it!". The staff were friendly and extraordinarily welcoming. I peeped the homemade vegan cookies and carrot cake (my fave) so I will be back to try those. This is not an everyday lunch spot but I'm looking forward to several visits when I feel like treating myself.

Disclaimer: this review was originally posted last week and then Yelp moved it to a business of the…read moresame name but in NY with the same owner and phone number. Now Yelp has added this business with no reviews to the right place so I cut and pasted my original review here. Hope it stays. So I was walking to the Reading Terminal Market (see my Review!) and cut through the Fashion District. Lo and behold, The Little Hot Dog Wagon was open! I've seen the sign up for a while and was anticipating the opening, which happened to be today. I wanted to try the place out, but today is a Friday in Lent and I don't do vegan meat which they offer. However, they had a "Wild Caught Salmon Burger" which definitely fit the bill for me. Being opening day, there were a lot of staffers making the orders and all were friendly if not a little discombobulated being the first day and the oil in the machine of running a restaurant was not fully smoothed out yet. But, even with the minor headaches of semi-long waits and orders delivered out of order everyone was excited to have a new opportunity within the food court. I ordered what turned out to be the most expensive item on the menu as it was the combo meal of the Wild Caught Salmon Burger. It came with waffle fries, sauerkraut, and a choice of water or soda. I was hoping to get the special pineapple lemonade but was unable to substitute and was not paying an additional $5 for it. Others were in large numbers, though. I got my meal to go, and once back to my office was prepared to see how good the food was. The waffle fries ended up being quite cold and bland. But, the Salmon Burger was outstanding! Huge pieces of salmon coupled with the lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a decent bun made my lunch so good. I was full and happy. Additionally, the sweet sauerkraut was excellent, too. They promote it as a special to them recipe and you can buy jars of it if you wish. I should have. I hope to see the long lines continue for this newest business and would like to try the hot dogs or fried chicken sandwich someday. A bit on the expensive side for lunch as a combo. $22.98 for the salmon burger, fries, kraut, and water. If I got the salmon burger alone it would be $13 before taxes, so $10 for fries and a water with kraut doesn't seem like a deal although it is about a $4 savings if priced à la cart if I had a soda. Best of luck to The Little Hot Dog Wagon!
