This was a super unique coffee spot that reminded me of New Orleans! It's a converted house with a ton of character that still has the living room and sitting room feel but a coffee shop just in the middle of it. The old furniture was fun but a little worn and grungy. I also asked the barista for her opinion on a drink combo and her response was essentially "it's your drink, do whatever you want" so wasn't very helpful but that's ok. They had basically any flavor combo you could want. It is on the end of the strip so it was a little bit less traffic but worth a stop. read more

Fact....easily, hands down- the most stylish Café I've ever been to. And if you're looking for somewhere good to enjoy your hot- or cold beverage on Warren St. in posh Hudson, then look no further! Throw in a magical and funk design inside, from the black and white geometric area rug, to the table accents and accessories- down to the Velvet chairs and red Velvet sofa to soften the blow- everything at Rev is meant to be snapped. The overhead menu is equally unique from what I saw. There's a big coffee list, different flavored Hot Chocolate (not sure how authentic or rich they are), Teas and Chai- in a few different ways and pastries. It was really an in and out for me as we'd just finished with a late lunch a couple of doors down. My Iced (little ice as requested) Turmeric Chai with Almond Milk- was very tasty. I'm not sure what's Rev's method, but I really liked how the guy used the right ratio of Turmeric to Chai to Almond Milk. This was a nice Chai-tastic day for me. This is an awesome hidden gem up in the Catskills town of Hudson, NY. On a recent road trip adventure, we discovered Rev Coffee & Tea, located in the adorable downtown district. The interior of the coffee shop is homey and memorable - especially if you love Gothic Victorian design aesthetics like I do! Take a seat on one of the vintage velvet couches, and you'll instantly feel transported to another era! The attention to detail in the decor is awesome and Instagram friendly (too bad they don't have a shop Instagram at press time! :( ) There are a variety of creative beverages, from Italian sodas to custom coffees, but I stayed true to form and ordered some iced Pomegranate White tea (light and fruity, the perfect complement to an unseasonably warm fall day), and a hot Apricot Brandy tea (deep with comforting citrus notes and cinnamon finish) after being intrigued by the name. My boyfriend is boring and got a coffee, but he said he very much enjoyed it, and actually ended up buying a bag of their coffee to go. The owner who was at the shop generously offered to grind the beans for him after he purchased it. We also ended up getting two of their homemade chocolate chip brownies and LET ME TELL YOU, they were the best darn brownies I'd ever had. I usually don't like coffee shop pastries - they are often stale and lack flavor, but these were moist and chocolatey- every bite bursting with chips. Yum. While the owner of Rev was very friendly and personable, as some other reviews said, some of the baristas are uneven when it comes to customer service. The person serving us seemed disinterested, and it was disappointing because I loved every other aspect of the experience of getting tea / coffee here. Nonetheless, this is a new favorite of ours, and we will absolutely be back the next time we're upstate! read more

The perfect, homey, warm and inviting, independent coffee shop is such a thing of the past, that I never see them anymore, and so to find this gem was such a breath of fresh air. During a weekend visit in Hudson, I stopped by to do some work and grab a coffee. They made people like me, with work to do on a laptop, feel welcome with a outlet splitter that lets multiple people plug into one outlet. It shouldn't be such a big deal, but these kind of small details are so few and far between these days, that it makes a big difference. The ambiance is also the best! It's like going to a bed and breakfast living room in an old Victorian house -- lots of couches, cozy arm chairs, tables for people on laptops, great lighting and a nice selection of bites and coffee. Good prices too. Overall, THIS is the coffee shop to visit in Hudson -- you'll feel like you're visiting an old friend in their gorgeous house to sit back and melt into the cushy atmosphere. read more

when i asked for a matcha, the gal behind the counter made a face like, oh what a pain. i said "is something wrong?" she looked at me with a totally annoyed face & said "what?" so rudely that I thought it best to pretend she hadn't heard me & repeated my order. I agree making matcha is a more lengthy process than pouring a cup of coffee, but that's what she's there for, isn't it. Meanwhile all the people waiting in line must be very patient, because after i sat down, each order seemed to take 3 times as long as one would have expected. read more

I went to Rev on a Friday evening to get some serious paper-writing done. My cappuccino was smooth and rich (made with really tasty organic beans and local milk), the place was mostly empty, and the wifi worked well. I sat at a table, but most of the seating is in the form of couches and armchairs. Rev is the kind of cafe you start to imagine yourself living in, from the parlor vibe of the front rooms to the way no one minds you spending hours there. In fact, there are power strips plugged into the outlets to accommodate the chargers for your many devices. And the music--which is invariably hipster but quite good--is playing at just the right level to not be distracting. There's a giant old bathtub in the restroom. Just sayin'. But short of moving in, I'll be back for another dose of caffeine and calmness soon. And next time I won't pass on vegan sweets. Note (since a dozen customers asked over the course of a single hour) about whether Rev has almondmilk/soymilk/agave/honey: yes. All of it. But unless you're lactose intolerant, allergic or vegan, don't replace the Ronnybrook dairy. It's heavenly--and I generally despise milk. Plus, it's made and bottled half an hour away. Rev serves coffee and tea and okay to mediocre baked goods in uncertain supply in a catch-as-catch-can environment of old furniture, often disinterested servers. Sometimes it's a handy place for a quick meeting. Other times it's a pain in the a*# because there's only the sinking, uncomfortable couch, and it turns out to *not* be a good meeting place. Sometimes it's good for coffee and a snack. Sometimes they're completely sold out of non-sweet things, and you don't get the snack you needed. Haphazard in friendliness of counter servers, food availability, volume of music, seating space, etc is not a good business model. Coffee and teas come in a good selection. Some people behind the counter are nice. Some are non-communicative. You don't know what you'll get. Sometimes there's food. Sometimes they're sold out. Take your chance. I prefer Supernatural or Verdegris. read more

To be fair, I admit, I did not order coffee. I had scalding hot tea. I know. I spilled some on my hand trying to carry the paper cup 15 feet to the couch. If you're going to serve a liquid THAT hot in such a non-cup, please warn people. Went back to the counter to get napkins for the tea I spilled. "They're right there." Said in as unconcerned a manner as a monotone could possibly be. There was no smile with my service. There was no "Hi" or "Hello" or anything really that smacked of a human soul. I will see your meh and raise you exactly one star for customer service. The tea tasted good. The chocolate chip cookie was good. I enjoyed sitting there and reading on a couch in the sun for a while. But I won't spend my money in a place where the service indicates no one cares whether I live or die. read more

Doing her job seemed to be an inconvenience to the barista, as she made my little sister feel so bad for asking for an iced tea that my sister started apologizing. I've gotten better and more enthusiastic service at McDonalds. Apparently the most basic customer service skills and ability to interact with another human being was not a job requirement. Very quiet, very chill. Probably a great place to study, but I mistakenly met here for a business meeting. Because it's so quiet, there was a concern for privacy. I would recommend they add some music or turn it up a notch. There is not a lot of table space but plenty of lounging spots. Service was typical that you would get from an angsty teenager, unfortunately. Scone was good but not a "true" scone. Unbelievable. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and never have experienced such apathetic and dour service multiple times. Not a 'Can I help you' not a 'Good morning' and not a 'Thank you.' I literally almost told the counter person this morning to do herself a favor and quit. We were the only people at the counter and it seemed that reading her phone took precedence over serving us. The atmosphere is lovely and it's a great, little space. I don't know who the owner is or who 'trains' and 'supervises' these people but there is a serious problem here. I want to feel welcome when I'm supporting local businesses, not alienated. So, I'm looking for another coffee shop. read more

Never got passed the $10 minimum sign for credit purchases. I was stuck on the road waiting for my wife's delayed flight to come in. I had $2 cash and was willing to pay for two drinks up front. When it town, like today, i make a point of stopping at Rev for coffee. Not only is it a very large space with several chairs, couches and tables to occupy but it has an extensive coffee and tea menu. I get the cappuccino usually which is always delicious but have gotten their coffee as well. Another reason j return is because of the excellent service. Nice little coffee shop on Warren. And by little, I mean huge. Very inviting space with a bunch of old furniture and tables. Hipster feel without any of the snobbishness. The coffee's consistently good and served by a guy who knows what he's doing. Once, he ran out of iced coffee one hot afternoon and instead of faking it and icing hot coffee, he explain why he didn't want to do that and made me an americano that was spot on.My girlfriend likes the lattes as well. This is and will always be my favorite café in Hudson. Its further up Warren St but I lived in Washington DC, Paris, London, Dubai, Sydney and other global places and Rev (formerly Muddycup) reminds me of The Living Room in San Diego. Free Wifi, cool music and the BEST server in Hudson ... Yes, Meagan. She is polite, respectful, remembers who you are even years later and deserves the HUGE bowl of tips people give her throughout the day. Every waitress in Hudson needs to talk to Megan about what a great server is really like. I wrote an entire book in Rev and its comfort is without equal. Swallow, Le Perche and Verdigris, Nolita are all nice but Rev is the real café in town. Its cheap and has San Pelligrino soda now. All they need is lower tables out front and it would be PERFECT. read more
