After 30 years of seeing Dr Schwartz I am seeking a new Dr…read more I was sent to collections for $45, from my last visit(July). I had inquired about paying my bill in full each visit, but was told insurance billing caused 2 part billing, copay upfront, and the undetermined until insurance responds balance, later. I have always reconciled my bill when I paid my copay. I never complained about the amount, and would gladly pay any late fees(I never looked). It was never about amount, but timing. I thought that I had a working solution, because I had offered to pay in full at each appointment, and was told that was not possible. Appearantly, I was not supposed to have a problem with being sent to collections. I was not supposed to take it personally, despite having always paid my bill. Decades of track record meant nothing. "We have to treat all patients the same." rang hollow. Yet the (all new since July) front desk staff was free to take my being upset, and complaining, as personally offensive. I did not curse. I was spirited and maybe louder than I should have been, but I was not insulting or demeaning. So if you want to be a number on a screen, this is the office for you.

Because of my sensitive eyes, I opt for the retina photograph instead of getting my eyes dilated - just let the front desk know upon check-in and the tech that takes you back. It's an out-of-pocket cost, but worth it. The techs take you to a different room to have your eye pressure checked and retina photos. Once in the exam room, it's usually a quick (& thorough) visit with the optometrist. I see Dr. Baziz - he's always patient and ensures I have a good understanding of what he sees/looks for. The front desk, techs and Dr. Baziz are all kind and knowledgeable individuals which is why I can't recommend them enough to my family/friends in the area. Though I've moved away from the area, I am happy to make the commute to this practice because I am confident that I am always taken care.
