Gave ResTech another shot after moving to an apartment complex that only offers their internet services. Had it briefly a few years back when I lived downtown and swapped off it. Had heard they were better now days but sadly that is not the case. Been here a less than two months with their service and have already had 4 outages, one which lasted around 6 hours. Avoid rental apartments that do not allow any alternative options, especially if you work from home and need to rely on the interent for being able to work. Their customer support like also for some reason seems to go down during outages often as well - during 2 of the 4 outages so far I have not even been able to reach their support line as the line itself seems to go down when they have larger outages. One of the outages I did get a chance to talk to someone, it was a week after the first 2.5 hour outage and I asked what the issue was and if this was normal and they suggested I just use my phone as a hot spot and I said that doesn't really work due to being in an ATT deadzone for speeds and the rep ended up just hanging up on me...never thought I would say I miss Spectrum interent but man their service was was so much more reliable and their support team was always professional. I have also noticed that rain for some reason causes drops in connection briefly and oddities with the speed so be ready for that as well. The speed itself, when working, is solid at 1gig up/down. read more

Do have to say, the customer service Ive received has always been wonderful. unfortunately the internet service itself is awful. didn't have a choice sadly, since it was prepackaged as the only internet provider at my apartment complex. It all started when me and my boys moved into our new apartment in scenic downtown Madison. We tried to connect our phones to our data in our apartment, but that was so slow, we knew we needed the wifi. We called up ResTech Services and we were blessed that Ian was on the other side of that line. Ian helped us dolts through the trials and tribulations of setting up the router as well as our connection with patience, expertise, and communication skills beyond anything we could have ever hoped for. I've dealt with ResTech at Hawks Landing and Baldwin Corners. Their reps are nice enough but the service is spotty and slow. It was the only provider option for both apartment complexes. Routine outages at all different times of the day and week. Each time the internet goes out I call them immediately. Each time the rep tells me I'm the only one out. Then, after an hour or two they finally admit it's a building-wide outage. It's going on 24 hours without a connection. Occasionally I need to work remotely. They suggested I buy a hotspot through a separate provider so I can work when their service is out. Wonderful problem solving!! read more

We already have had terrible problems with how slow it is for months, even after we upgraded, and now it doesn't work at all most of the time. Pathetic. I'm a student who has homework that requires the internet, and with work and class I don't always have time to be at the library. So not being able To rely on the internet is a huge issue. Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Tom and the service techs that recently upgraded our wiring at the Sheelin Apartments. Our residents are SO happy not to have to deal with "that other provider" and their horrible customer service any longer. Tom was extremely helpful in getting the project completed quickly and efficiently so our "working from home" residents can be more efficient. To complete the project, the installation crew had to enter each apartment. I had several compliments from the residents commenting on how quick and polite they were. Dealt with Res Tech twice in the last 4 years in two different locations, Park Regent and Waterfront. Both times had continuous internet issues with dropped connections to every device me and my roommate used. They are polite enough but have yet to show competence in resolving issues. Service wise I was told they should always leave a voicemail when returning calls about any ongoing issues and they've failed to do so with my most recent complaint. Speed isn't terrible but the continued interruption to service is becoming extremely frustrating. read more

If you're thinking to yourself, "what would it be like to subscribe to the worst ISP ever?" Look no further! (Over)pay for internet service with Restech and enjoy broadband internet at dial-up speeds! Downstream traffic that is consistently at least 10 Mbps slower than your subscription plan. Expect to go over your cell plan's data limit on a monthly basis because you'd rather use cell service to actually get work done online. Internet outage that you want to report? No problem! If their phones aren't down too, which they usually are, you can speak with a completely unhelpful CSR after waiting 20 minutes on hold. All jokes aside, I should probably thank Restech for getting me to read more books, listen to more records, and have so many more deep conversations with my spouse while pretending we live in the 1980s. read more

Network sucks... slow and usually unable to provide service. Routine outrages all the time 24/7. This provider truly sucks.

Several random outages per week and sometimes several per day. Random meaning day and night, weekday and weekend, morning and afternoon. I mean outage or the equivalent (meaning technically not outage but very slow loading, no possibility of audio or video, etc). Makes working from home or working remotely impossible to do reliably. In addition to these outages, speed tests routinely show 1-2 mbps or what the speed test calls "very slow." I would use any other ISP, but restech is the only option in my building. If you have options, choose anything else. I have to supplement with non-restech hotspots to make sure I can work remotely reliably during the frequent outages & crawls. It's not any other factor other than restech's service, as my computer works fine as soon as I have a proper connection via a hotspot from another ISP. read more

I've consistently tested my internet and have only once received the 20 mbs I pay for. When you call their customer service for help they offer no real solution. The few times I bothered calling the employee was rude. When I asked to escalate the call the employee refused to offer a manager. If you can, go with another company. read more

Avoid if possible. This is the worst internet service I have ever had. It is shoddy and unstable. I purchased a high speed package and the promised speed was not delivered on until I called and complained numerous times. But having high speed doesn't matter when your service is down so often. It seems to go down and then reconnect dozens of times a day. This sort of instability is terrible for any sort of gaming or streaming. Not to mention the fact that every couple of weeks you can count on an all day outage. The only points I can give them are that the customer service is pretty responsive-- but they have no long term solutions for you. I am in awe at how terrible this service is. read more

This review is based upon both customer service and internet service. My internet has gone out quite frequently with little to no reason given from the company. When trying to call in, it seems nobody is ever able to explain what the issue is. Now, more than ever, where working remote is more prevalent, this type of service is not efficient. read more

I've had ResTech at Springbrook Row and Park Regent. Loss of internet connection were consistent and constant. They would happen multiple times a day sometimes. Customer service was usually friendly but constant outage issues were never fixed. read more

I experienced internet outages that I tried to troubleshoot myself, putting off and dreading having to call a support line. However, once I did the gentleman on the other end of the phone walked me through various fixes; none of them worked because it was a problem on ResTech's end with equipment in the building. One of their techs worked to fix the problem, called me back, walked me through what I needed to do and I got internet back! He was patient and understanding and quite apologetic for my losing internet access. While I have never experienced this magnitude of problem while I was a client with any other cable/internet service, I would bet ResTech handled it better than many competitors would have! read more

Only option at my current apartment complex, but I have never had any issues with ResTech. Just month-to-month w/ no long-term contract, no installation or equipment fees, and the support is very responsive. I pay for 50Mbps down and that's what I get. Never had any issues with outages. read more

Do not stay in the Steve Brown's apartments if you want to have any decent internet services. I've called many times for months in the past for numerous connection issues and it's very ineffective, and I used the same device at many other locations without issues, plus, my modem is only 1.5 year old. They did not solve any issues at all and kept calling back and asked the same questions again and again like they had never spoken to you before. It appears to me there are serious flaws in their network that has been there for a while that DISCONNECTS YOU ALL THE TIME. Try the speed test (www.speedtest.org) and ask them to explain to you the internet performance you receive. read more

I've been calling customer service for the past 2 months due to slow speeds, and they keep on saying that "their network engineers will look into it." They keep on giving excuses on why my issue hasn't been resolved yet, but I'm fairly certain they just didn't provide enough hardware for our building. They have a 100Mbps line for the building, but offer 20 units 20Mbps service. If you are looking for someone with reliable/stable, consistent internet, I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

If I could give ResTech zero stars I would. Their service is terrible, they offer what appears to be fast internet but when measured it performs far below the advertised value. Their customer service is quick to respond but completely useless. About the only thing they will have you do is measure the internet speed when plugged in, which anyone can do in their own time. They said they had resolved our issue and upgraded our connection to the advertised speed but that was just a blatant lie as our connection remains both slow and extremely unstable. It's sad that I cannot respond to an e-mail's regularly because my internet is to slow. I would suggest avoiding this company at all costs, the services they provide are disgraceful and if I had a choice of providers, which I unfortunately do not, I would switch to anyone else in a heart beat. To sum up my experience... I downloaded yelp on my phone because I couldn't use my computer (slow internet connection!) for the sole purpose of writing a terrible, but accurate, review of ResTech. read more

Look, customer service only goes so far, at the end the day its an internet provider and that performance should dictate the quality of the company. That being said, they have the worst internet I have ever encountered. Its not even about getting close to posted speeds, thats way way out in left field. Its more like paying service for 20 Mbps but usually getting under 10 and commonly below 1. Service will cut out randomly all the time regardless of time. Obviously peak traffic hours are even worse. DNS servers constantly fail, and on top of it all this has happened consistently for the last 18 months. (I would change in a heartbeat but the provider is locked in with my apartment complex and installing a new trunk cable and fiber would be inordinately expensive via charter) Its so bad that if you were checking out apartments and your apartment subscribes to this service, leave immediately. You have no idea how bad the struggle can get when you have internet at the behest of a coin flip. And pricing wise its not that much better trust me. For like 10 bucks more you can get better service with charter. whatever you do NO RESTECH read more

I never left a bad review, but this ISP deserves it. Worst possible service. I was forced to use their service just because my landlord signed a contract with them. I've been using their service for 2 years and since then, every 2-3 weeks there will be a 2-3 day period when the internet just kept dropping for no reason (well, they said it was their server). It was extremely annoying and they somehow could never fix it. I called them probably more than 20 times, and the reps were nice but they just told me "we are working on it, no ETA at the moment". Every time I called. Which is absolutely useless. If you have a project/homework due soon and need to research, good luck. It has happened more than 3 times to me. I had to go to the lab at mid-night to submit homework just because the internet sucks. And btw, im writing this review on LTE, because the internet died AGAIN. Between living in 2 states, Res Tech is the worst internet service I have ever had!!! The apartment complex I live in only offers Res Tech, and the "standard" option is 2 Mbps. If you want "up to 10 Mbps" you have to pay an extra $15 per month. What they don't tell you is that you may get up to 10 Mbps (if you're lucky, average around 7-8 Mbps here), but your upload speed is AT BEST .25 Mbps (which basically negates anything your "higher" download speed may do for you) and your internet is going to cut out AT LEAST 3 times per day and sometimes for several hours at a time. In the last 6 months I have spent more time talking to Res Tech support than I have my mom! DO NOT GET ANY SERVICE FROM RES TECH!!! If it were possible to get a grade lower than F, they would certainly be Maxima Cum Laude. read more

Speed is pretty good relative to what is advertised. However, it is definitely unstable. Frequent brief interruptions in service. If you have voip phone service be prepared for the unstable internet service from Restech to cause phone calls to drop in mid-conversation. When our building had Five Nines as a provider we received very stable service. read more

If I had known the service would be like this I would never have signed up. Luckily there is an option out for me. Troubleshooting and service has been appalling as far as I am concerned. there "troubleshooting" effort was minimal, and was the exact same results as I said there was, since I had done that much on my own before calling. I actually had to hook up a computer to the wall to confirm the issue existed. No they weren't there. I could have been calling from Hawaii at that point. Finally they admitted a problem, but it would be a few days for repair, then I found out it wasn't just my service. Clearly if their are multiple people with the same issue at the same time, maybe you want to send someone out to look. Even worse was their Idea of customer service. No information, never calling back, unwilling to help out in anyway or be upfront with the situation, Sarcastic replies to boot. One star because you can't give 0 stars. read more
