O Haesanmul Jjim Seafood braised in a spicy sauce with bean sprouts
Ness S.

This restaurant is not closed as reported. It's taken over by new ownership. The food continues to be excellent. I like the seafood pancakes a lot the softshell crab was also very good although a little on the fried side. Their Galbi Jjim was excellent. The meat was fall off the bone tender. The Haesanmul Jjim was spicy but a reasonable level. The flavors were deep and delicious. It's been a while since we've been here. The ambiance under the new owner is completely different now. Looks new and vibrant. The owner was serving us and she was very friendly and talkative. Excellent all around. I'm looking forward to returning.

Such a cool little hidden gem!! Amazing Korean food and karaoke was so fun. Owner was so sweet, brought out some lovely complimentary tasting plates and beer.

Outside of the restaurant

Never got her name, but the owner was the sweetest person ever! Inside had a really comfortable setting vibes. Their foods are a HUGE portion AND very very delicious for the price . Definitely worth going to!

First timer at this well thought of Korean destination. It's "down the alley" in this strip center, with no street frontage presence. Take note. Some of their features: Open late, #1 karaoke bar, super helpful owner and staff, huge menu, great food. Owner was very helpful in the ordering process; and they force you to use a QR code to order. Everything we ordered was great, and the kimchi pie was unique. Beer and wine is self serve out of the coolers. We left before karaoke kicked in, but it was very crowded when we left at 830. We will be back!

Silla has you covered for alll your Korean food cravings- especially those late night ones since they are open until 1 AM! Late night food just hits different and this meal was absolutely hitting the spot. Soondae (Korean blood sausage) is one of my favorite things to eat and luckily I was able to get soondae stew at a local Korean restaurant. Although I'm not big on other pig intestines in my soup, owner encouraged us to get it and surprisingly it wasn't too bad. If you like chewy textures then I recommend giving the full experience a try! If you're less experimental with your food choices then you can't go wrong with the Korean fried chicken. It was crispy and coated with a savory, slightly sweet sauce. The fried soft shell crab was so good. It had tender and savory meat on the inside and the seasoning was amazing. I liked it even better than the fried chicken! The assortment of banchan (side dishes) were also great with a mix of savory favorites like marinated spicy squid, marinated fish cake, kimchi, and pickled veggies as well as sweet dishes like the sweet potatoes. The owner and worker were very friendly and service was quick since you order online and they bring the dishes to you.

This place has been around forever. It opens late for karaoke as well so it's great for people who want to hang out and drink with decent food. They also have weekday & Saturday specials. The ajumma who greeted us at the door and seated us was very friendly. Shout out to Susan! The gentleman who waited on us was friendly, but a little bit more reserved and we really didn't see much of him. I would say that the service was a little slow that day because we had to ask for rice twice, & there was a misunderstanding, whether or not they had purple rice...which they called brown rice? That was weird. I was also told to just go and get my own drinks from the coolers. They brought out our water in paper cups, which was also kind of weird. Their ordering system is from a tablet at your table. I like the efficiency of it, but it took a little bit of the personal touch out of my dining experience. I came with a few people who had never been to the restaurant and they had questions so it was harder to get them answered with the tablet ordering system. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was good. The bibimbop did not have the sizzling Crunchy rice at the bottom so I think the hot stone was not hot enough when it was brought out. That's the main reason you get bibimbop, so no bueno. The Bulgogi was also a smaller portion than it looks in the pictures. I probably wouldn't order those two things next time. I would say the Bonchon is on par with some of the other Korean places around town so nothing really special & tgey were a bit less generous in their portioning of them compared to similar places. Everything has always been consistent though and a true staple for Korean food. I also like supporting small OG spots like this especially when Korean barbecue all you can eat chains are taking over these days.

The restaurant is tucked back with a welcoming sign. The environment is very cozy, with decorations and nice lighting. The food is incredible and they have a vast menu for all your Korean favorites. Their side dishes are always fresh and in season. What truly makes this place special is the owner. She is so kind and loving. The food is great but I keep coming back for her!

I came here a couple of years ago and didn't have a fantastic experience with the staff but I think there is a new owner who has revamped the place. The interior is very cute with lights and a karaoke stage. My family and I enjoyed the food and the staff was very helpful. My favorite dishes were the seafood pancake, banchan, and the Budae Jigae.

Entrance

Food was flavorful and came out right away! Owner was immediately extremely sweet and welcoming. Atmosphere is beautiful and picture-worthy. Colored lanterns and cute vibrant decor! Feels like i'm under the sea! She has jazz music playing in the background which is a nice relaxing vibe. Portions are big so you get a good bang for your buck! Nice and big portions perfect for family or friend meals and smaller portion options for yourself. The entrance is a little hidden--on the side alley of the other Asian restaurant! String lights leading to the door welcome you. My friends and I ordered the wings and dumplings--all delicious! We didn't feel rushed while eating like a lot of places do. The owner made us feel welcome the whole time even though we were the last ones in the restaurant. She let us take a tour to look around at the decorations and take pictures. No complaints honestly, my friends and I had a great experience.

This place is absolutely delicious! Don't let the location (hidden down a side alley) fool you - this place is great. The budae jigae I had here was absolutely delicious - it was definitely the real deal. The side dishes were equally delicious - I was particularly impressed by how good the kimchi was. Needless to say, if you're craving Korean, check this place out!

Ordered: oh sam dolsot Ok can confirm that the oh sam dolsot is very good! And I think they are the only place in Columbus that does it?? To be honest, I've had better banchan but the lady working was super nice about offering us more so it's ok :) I also don't know if the oh sam dolsot normally comes with an extra bowl of rice but I was happy to receive lol. I think I might have come at an unexpected time? It kind of seemed like they didn't have waitstaff so there was borderline only one lady running in and out of the kitchen with one boy helping her clean and serve. So like massive kudos to her. Also, she was soooo nice and friendly. Definitely helps, too, that she was not a Chinese nationalist. She made it clear that she recognized the difference between China and Taiwan so she's a sweetie

Haven't been back to Restaurant Silla for ages and had some great time dinning in. The set up inside is quite different from what I remember. Right when you entered the restaurant, there is some beautiful décor. They also have a karaoke bar on the side as well. Once you get seated, you will scan the QR code at the table and order through the phone. I did noticed some place start having a similar pattern. I assume that would take some load off from the staffs. The food come fairly quick and the owner actually come periodically to check up on me. I got myself a bowl of Soondubu Jjigae and it is totally my go to order for something comforting.

We spent $230 (w/ tip) and it was worth every penny. Probably the best Japanese restaurant in the city. We passed by this place multiple times on our way elsewhere. We're Mario fans, so the name Yoshi caught our eye, but the cramped strip mall exterior doesn't exactly scream culinary dream. We decided to take a chance, and let me just say--wow. It's an intimate space with just a few tables and an 8-10 seat sushi bar. We didn't have reservations (make one, they fill up fast) but managed to snag seats at the bar. The service immediately stood out. We had better attention here than at some upscale steakhouses--glasses never went empty, and their menu suggestions were spot on. One minor heads-up: at the sushi bar, staff sometimes walk behind you to talk to the chefs, which can be a bit distracting. For starters, we grabbed the gyoza and asked for a standout small plate. They pointed us to the beef tongue. It arrived hot with shredded onions and spicy mustard, delivering a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness with a deep, beefy richness. The gyoza was equally flawless. Instead of the overly chewy or burnt wrappers you find at most spots, these had a delicate, golden-brown sear with an intensely savory, garlicky umami filling. We paired this with Sayuri sake, a creamy, unfiltered pour that perfectly balanced sweetness with a dry, clean finish. Since we love nigiri, we ordered a spread: tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, sweet shrimp, and Japanese scallop, plus a salmon/avocado roll. The cuts were impeccably sourced and practically dissolved on the tongue. You rarely find this level of consistency. Just a heads up--they prepare it the traditional way, meaning there is a dab of wasabi tucked directly under the fish. We also tried the Wagyu A-5 roll. It's about as "meat and potatoes" as a roll can get: steak, carrots, asparagus, and rice. The seared Wagyu fat melted instantly, creating a decadent, buttery glaze over the crisp vegetables. It's one of those rare foods that genuinely forces you to pause after each bite. At $40, it was 100% worth it. I can't say enough about this experience. Next time, we're leveling up to the fatty tuna and Wagyu experience on their special menu. That's the exact culinary peak we've been looking for, and incredibly, it's tucked inside a suburban strip mall. Absolutely brilliant.

it a great time for a first visit since I wasn't totally sure what to expect…read more Our server greeted us right away and did a great job explaining how everything works. Sushi rolls travel around the restaurant on a conveyor belt right next to your table -- if something looks good, you just grab it as it rolls by. Easy and kind of fun. The restaurant is all-you-can-eat for $35.95, which includes sushi, appetizers, soups, a limited salad bar, and hibachi. You can order as much as you want, but they are serious about food waste -- anything left over gets charged at $13.95 per pound, which honestly feels fair. We started with a mix of appetizers, soup, and a couple of sushi rolls, and everything was fresh and flavorful right out of the gate. After that, we ordered beef hibachi, an order of wings, and a pork belly bun, plus tried the crab salad and seaweed salad from the bar. Once again, the flavors were on point. My only real complaint of the night was the chicken wings -- they tasted like frozen, reheated wings. Not awful, but definitely the weakest item we tried. We went back for a few more sushi rolls (because... obviously), then finished with dessert. We had an orange-flavored sponge cake and a coffee-flavored sponge cake. Both were light, delicate, and surprisingly good -- a nice way to end the meal without feeling overly full. So the big question: Is it worth the price? For the quality of the food and the variety of choices, I'd say yes. My recommendation: go hungry, keep an open mind, and try a little bit of everything. You might just discover a new favorite.

I was meeting friends at North Market for dinner, so I grabbed take away from Song Lan. I typically order their rolls but heard great things about their other entrees and decided to get the Chicken Hibachi. Super filling and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I also ordered the Coconut Shrimp roll (minus mango due to allergies) to share with friends. It was okay - I'm sure it would be a lot better with the mango. I'd likely get their Spicy Tuna Roll in the future if I want a smaller one - or I'd go for my favorite of the Angry Lobster Roll or the Pink Lady Roll. Like, I could count the number of tables occupied on one hand. No real explanation, no attempt to accommodate, just a hard no and a shrug. It felt less like a restaurant and more like we accidentally walked into some kind of private club we weren't cool enough for. What's even more frustrating is that we weren't trying to be difficult -- we were ready to wait, split tables, whatever -- but they didn't care at all. Just zero effort. I've never been turned away from an almost empty restaurant before, and honestly it was kind of surreal. Ended up taking our business somewhere else where they actually wanted customers. Funny how that works. Would not recommend unless you enjoy being ignored and turned away for no reason.
