The location is obviously amazing!! I honestly thought, judging just on appearance, that this place would be super pretentious and snobby. I was so wrong! The service was wonderful! They were super nice and quick and the food was delicious! We had a great table, for 6 of us, and it had an amazing view of the beach as well as a fan pointed straight at us. I ordered a few different apps because there were too many things on the menu that I wanted. The octopus croquettes were delicious! I also ordered the tuna ceviche. My friends all loved their meals as well.

Great food, quality ingredients, well staffed and right on the water, the food came out in a decent time even with a lot of people there, the parking is a challenge but you can walk right out to the beach

Visiting St. Bart's? Taking a day trip away from St Maarten? This restaurant located on Shell Beach is a must-add to your list of places to go. With amazing food, stunning views and friendly service, it's hard to be disappointed with this piece of paradise! They offer valet parking if you have a rental car. Reservations are recommended as it can get quite busy. Lounge chairs can be rented for 50 euros a day each and come with a towel and waiter service. We chose to eat lunch at our lounge chairs while enjoying the blue water views. I ordered a mojito, which was super refreshing. We started with an assortment of olives, bread and the grilled squid. We watched our lounge neighbors order the grilled skirt steak with chimichurri and fries. It looked so good that we followed suit. Everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Shell Beach also offers an assortment of water sports. From paddle boarding to motorized body boards. If you have a yacht, feel free to anchor in the cove and come ashore. Many people also bring snorkel gear (which I took part it) as this beach is also home to many kinds of fish. Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Hubby and I were on a cruise that stopped at St Barth. I looked at trip advisor and yelp to see what we could do for lunch. Shellona looked like a perfect place! We walked from the ship to the "Shell Beach". It's a lovely walk through town, and not very far. The beach was empty and it was about 90 minutes until our reservation for lunch. We sat down on some lounge chairs to pass the time. We quickly were greeted by someone who let us know it was $70 per person per day for a lounge chair. I explained we had a reservation and would leave at that point.... Still $70 per person.... Ok, I get it. That's their "rule". We chose two lounge chairs in the shade. No one else was there for another hour. We ordered some sparkling water and enjoyed the relaxation of the quiet beach scene. At the time of our reservation, I went to the front desk. They said they would come get me when they are ready. They waited a bit and dem for us. We were seated at an inside table, even though we were the second table seated. (Another couple that was there after us, was seated before us). I ordered a spicy cocktail and the mahi-mahi burger. By this time two larger groups were seated right in front of us. They were, as would be expected, noisy, and it created a vibe that was more of a party atmosphere rather than relaxing. Our food and drinks were great.... Very fresh! The wait staff was nice and attentive. I would go back if we ever go to St Barth again. We were never charged for the lounge chairs, which I think was appropriate since we were really just there to wait for our reservation, and the place was empty so we weren't taking up a space they could sell for the day. I think they should have an hourly price for those of us with a reservation... just a thought.

As I stated before the waiters and servers were top notch. With that said, the kitchen was the issue. My wife ordered a lobster bisque or should I say a soup. To add insult to injury, there was literally one chunk of lobster that was almost half inch in size. The family did enjoy the bread, but the main meals had several misses that caused this restaurant to be a two star. I will start with my wife who had the lasagna. She said it was really good and could have been a dish from Italy (We were there last December). My daughter had the gnocchi and a side of meatballs. She stated the gnocchi was bland, but the meatballs were good. My son, started as a couple failures. First he ordered a beef tenderloin fillet. After being told that they were out he ordered the New York strip medium rare. When the food finally made it to the table it was rare. After sending it back the second one was cooked better. However the steak you could taste the rosemary, but was still no salt. Once adding salt to the steak it tasted good. He ordered a side of pasta which he really enjoyed. Finally, my order, I ordered the whole lobster. To start, the size of this lobster for $79 was a joke and if the lobster was good, I would have felt better! Not having a Caribbean Lobster before I was not sure how it was supposed to be and I wished I would have asked when I took my first bite. The lobster was supposed to be a grilled item. I was so looking forward to this lobster to be TOTALLY disappointed! The lobster was actually over cooked. I only found out after I was leaving because I asked how the consistency was supposed to be. If you only care about scenery and pasta this is the place for you! Anything else, there are a lot of options in the area to choose from.

The appetizers took an hour to come out and I have no idea what the cooks were doing. The food was cold and spoke to the chef and all he did was take off for the cheapest meal and which was cold also. If I could give a no star I would. Food was cold and tough. I spoke with the head chef Carlos not really wanting to appease to our experience. We didn't even get an apology for the long wait. This is my family's first and last time going there. Especially being on vacation. I highly doubt not recommend this place at all and it's highly disappointing due to the location of the place that set the ambiance off from what could've been a memorable moment.

On the other side of the road from Cupe Coy (if you're not into bathing au naturale, beware!), this towards the rear of the complex towards the boat docks. The staff was laidback, friendly, and gregarious. When asked for a recommendation, our server was knowledgeable and perceptive. The apps were excellent. There was a decadent dip and plantain cups with different meats in them. Very good, great value. The mains (so, meo culpa here, I forgot what The Scientist had, I was busy with item number one, supra) are hearty portions priced well below other spots on the island. Never having had lobster thermidor before, it had to happen. It was spiny lobster, which was appreciated. The more firm/dense meat, along with the less sweet (neutral) flavor of the spiny lobster lent itself to the cream and shallots I tasted. If you're going for decadent without a hefty price tag, this is your spot.

I asked the chef owner for water and he said the server would get it, which was his wife but they were both too busy sitting at other people's table and chatting it up while I'm over her parched for water for 15 minutes! WTF! I can't even get some water in this hot muggy crappy place? I ordered a pie because I was starving bc I guess this Italian place doesn't give bread. I had to get up and order it and my water with the other chef that was standing around bc no one was helping me get anything. Ordered the most horrendous clam pasta I have ever had with extra bitter and old arugula on top. Nothing about this place was palatable. The service sucked. Didn't realize this clam pasta was not coming with linguine but instead penne with some thick tasteless cheese sauce. This was definitely easily that worst restaurant I've eaten on the island. I should have left as soon as I knew I wasn't going to get water right away
