We loved it! Legit home cooked meals with lots of flavor! Make sure you make a reservation. Seating is limited.

We leave happy, full and satisfied every time we eat at Y'Vette's. The staff are welcoming and attentive and provide excellent service. The general ambience is nothing special, but you do feel a little like someone's Auntie has invited you over for a great meal.

Okay, this place is the best St Martin has to offer. It was so good we came back three times for dinner. They have odd hours but if you can work around them you should stop by for a bite. I tried their Goat Curry, Stew Conch, and Oxtail which were all fantastic. Each meal is served with Johnny Cakes which are always pleasant while visiting the island. The owner and servers are great and attentive. Parking is just past the restaurant past the lower line pole. If you are visiting St Martin then you have to come here at least once for some authentic locale fare. You will not regret it!

Yelp helped me find this gem today when we went looking for local food. Yvette's was on the French side of the Island so about a 30 minute drive from us at Simpson Bay. They're open for dinner 6:30-9:30 so we wanted to be there at 6:30 incase there was a wait. We arrive at 6:35 and there were already 4 of the 10 tables filled. We sat immediately and our waters were poured. (1L water for the table for $2, not optional) We ordered about 10 minutes later after all finally deciding on what to get. Myself : creole snapper with veggies Husband: Curry Chicken with rice and beans and a Presidente Daughter: brewed snapper with fries Son: grilled chicken with fries Starter: saltfish cakes and the free Johnny cakes Free plantains with your meal as well. Every.Single.Thing.Was.Amazing. We all shared to taste it all... and even my 9 year old son couldn't stop eating his delicious garlic grilled chicken. The salad dressing was like nothing I've ever had. You could taste the love they put into this place. Their momma would be so proud. Attached a menu, because I searched high and low for one and there isn't one anywhere on the web. It's definitely not your normal US restaurant, it's a home, off a bumpy road, but you won't regret your meal! $71 before tip. No tax ;)

Stewed Chicken, meat fell right off the bone! Amazing

Finger Licking Good!!!!!! Best meals we had on St Maarten! Family owned. We were greeted at the door by the son who took our orders. His father is the chef and we could take all the love in his cooking! Flavorful and delicious (nevermind the costs were reasonably inexpensive) I ordered the whole pan fried snapper!!!! Definitely try the oxtails!!!!!!! Can't wait to go back for more!

Stewed chicken Saint Martin style with veggies and rice and peas and salad with homemade dressing. All for $10

Incredible, can't-miss dining when are in Saint Martin. The food delicious. The experience so authentic. You will feel like family when Yvette's descendants welcome you in to their home. Everything's homemade. Be sure to bring cash as there are no ATMs nearby. They have lived in the French quarter for generations and they speak excellent English too.

As I stated before the waiters and servers were top notch. With that said, the kitchen was the issue. My wife ordered a lobster bisque or should I say a soup. To add insult to injury, there was literally one chunk of lobster that was almost half inch in size. The family did enjoy the bread, but the main meals had several misses that caused this restaurant to be a two star. I will start with my wife who had the lasagna. She said it was really good and could have been a dish from Italy (We were there last December). My daughter had the gnocchi and a side of meatballs. She stated the gnocchi was bland, but the meatballs were good. My son, started as a couple failures. First he ordered a beef tenderloin fillet. After being told that they were out he ordered the New York strip medium rare. When the food finally made it to the table it was rare. After sending it back the second one was cooked better. However the steak you could taste the rosemary, but was still no salt. Once adding salt to the steak it tasted good. He ordered a side of pasta which he really enjoyed. Finally, my order, I ordered the whole lobster. To start, the size of this lobster for $79 was a joke and if the lobster was good, I would have felt better! Not having a Caribbean Lobster before I was not sure how it was supposed to be and I wished I would have asked when I took my first bite. The lobster was supposed to be a grilled item. I was so looking forward to this lobster to be TOTALLY disappointed! The lobster was actually over cooked. I only found out after I was leaving because I asked how the consistency was supposed to be. If you only care about scenery and pasta this is the place for you! Anything else, there are a lot of options in the area to choose from.

I asked the chef owner for water and he said the server would get it, which was his wife but they were both too busy sitting at other people's table and chatting it up while I'm over her parched for water for 15 minutes! WTF! I can't even get some water in this hot muggy crappy place? I ordered a pie because I was starving bc I guess this Italian place doesn't give bread. I had to get up and order it and my water with the other chef that was standing around bc no one was helping me get anything. Ordered the most horrendous clam pasta I have ever had with extra bitter and old arugula on top. Nothing about this place was palatable. The service sucked. Didn't realize this clam pasta was not coming with linguine but instead penne with some thick tasteless cheese sauce. This was definitely easily that worst restaurant I've eaten on the island. I should have left as soon as I knew I wasn't going to get water right away

On the other side of the road from Cupe Coy (if you're not into bathing au naturale, beware!), this towards the rear of the complex towards the boat docks. The staff was laidback, friendly, and gregarious. When asked for a recommendation, our server was knowledgeable and perceptive. The apps were excellent. There was a decadent dip and plantain cups with different meats in them. Very good, great value. The mains (so, meo culpa here, I forgot what The Scientist had, I was busy with item number one, supra) are hearty portions priced well below other spots on the island. Never having had lobster thermidor before, it had to happen. It was spiny lobster, which was appreciated. The more firm/dense meat, along with the less sweet (neutral) flavor of the spiny lobster lent itself to the cream and shallots I tasted. If you're going for decadent without a hefty price tag, this is your spot.

One of the owners Max was there both nights we went and we were impressed by his attentiveness, kindness and the pride he took in the bar and drinks he was serving. He was so passionate that it was contagious; seriously - if someone was giving out tattoos I probably would have gotten a Ratafia tattoo on the spot and signed up to be a groupie. The most impressive thing Max pulled of was the fact that he made a gin drink (Clover Club) that my husband actually liked even though he's sworn off gin since a night of drinking and getting sick off of it in high school! I couldn't believe it. He took the time to explain the ingredients in the drinks, why they work and was even making the fresh ingredients for the drinks while we were there (raspberry syrup, chickpea water, etc.). We also had a charcuterie board one of the nights and it was fresh and great compliment to the drinks. Max even shared a sample of Ratafia with us and the story of why they chose to name their bar after it. Oh and we especially loved being able to catch the sunset from the patios so don't miss that if you go!
